For the past several year, their head coach has been unable to sign actual competent passing QB's who can complete passes for over 6-7 yards. So with that weak passing game and a strong o-line with quality running backs (and Lynn Bowden), it just made sense to play to their strengths. You don't have a clue if you think UK's passing game 'looks great'. What Wilson can get in the passing game is largely due to teams expecting the run game 80%, as you said, of the time. Check out what Wilson, Towles, Barker, Johnson, Hoak, Smith & Gatewood have done against teams with good or better defenses. It's not good.

@@kevinlakeman5043 no need for hostility. I agree with you, Terry isn’t the best passer KY has and I believe Gatewood, Allen or even Scalzo would be a better option for this offense. However one of the only reasons KY has made it by in the SEC is their consistently strong defenses. Kentucky struggles to put up good numbers against any defense unless theyre D2 or Vanderbilt. A military type of offense is predictable and won’t fair well in one of the toughest Conferences in the country with highly trained athletes and better defensive schemes. That’s why they axed both Gran and Hinshaw. Stoops saw that they were limiting their passers and their receivers and took action. Stoops is likely aware that while Terry is a lovable player, he’s not going to lead them to sustained success. KY’s new QB coach and OC were praised by Jared Goff, saying that they received some excellent coaches. Being afraid of change is what got KY into this slump to begin with, so be optimistic and trust the coaches to do their job well.

@@Noncollectable their aren't many teams like Kentucky out there running from behind demanding respect. Stoops brought this team from 2 wins a season to knocking out some pretty good teams. Props to the coaching staff

@@brantleytinnin6258 .....There's a lot more to the SEC than just 2-3 teams. Bottom level SEC teams like Ole Miss, Mississippi St., and Kentucky were winning bowl games against ranked teams from other conferences. Learn the facts.

A run-of-the-mill SEC team tends to be better than well-above-average teams from other conferences, yes. The strength of schedule is a big factor.

Of course there are exceptions...I mean anyone can beat anyone on a given day, depending on certain factors.

Kentucky is a good team. They're just not competitive in the SEC. The SEC should trade Kentucky to the ACC for Clemson.

I was going to make the same observation. The ACC has done performed well this bowl season, and should cast doubt on their rankings next year.

Well to be fair the SEC is a powerful conference. I mean look at Kentucky now. It was bound to happen as mark stoops has improved that team a lot in the past 8 years
