Very informative, thanks. One of the issues I’ve always had problems with is an inverter supplying an electric cement/concrete mixer, when the mix ‘slumps’ the additional load doesn’t go down well with all of the inverters I’ve used, I now use a ‘redi -line’ 1600watt rotary inverter which copes fine. I’d be interested if, in your reviews you would consider testing inverters powering a mixer ‘ doing something’ as just spinning it isn’t a true test.

@practicalguy973
@practicalguy973 2 роки тому
There are pros and cons to soft start and some sensitive items may not turn on with soft start or act strange, Something with a control board and boot time could be an issue for example but it would be rare. Soft start is a must for power outage preparedness in running a full size fridge or microwave where the inrush current will trip most inverters. Owning both types is a good idea.

Have you measured decibels of fan noise under full possible load for this inverter? Prefer to be tested with silent loads, like with heaters with no fans. Mine must be placed inside a one room cabin, so noise matter.

Very good review! Seems like a good bang4buck IMO. Funny how all the Chinese units have no problem using a US 15amp recept, unfused, and with full 3Kw + available! Should have found out if the output supply had a real neutral/hot, or a floating neutral. The soft start is great for running one big power tool. That saves it from blowing up or going into protect. What worries me is that if the inverter was powering, say entertainment electronics, lighting etc, then the 5K BTU window shaker kicks on, will it brown out the electronics? I have a 24 volt Reliable brand 3500W unit. It has a soft start, but only activates when the inverter is powered up! I learned that these hi output units really need a huge battery bank to run right. I first tried just 2 12v trolling batteries in series and it shut down trying to start a de-humidifier (just a test). Some time later, purchased 4 6v 310 amp/hr flooded batteries put in series. Now it starts de-humidifer like it's on the grid! I think bus bars should be used to supply power to the switching transformers instead of individual wires. I plan on doing that to my inverter soon. Of course boils down cost savings.
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 роки тому
(2) legs create the 120V output. Pretty sure 60V each leg. 110V output is fine under heavy load, but you're right, you need a heavy duty battery bank to keep the DC input voltage from dropping.

I agree with all other compliments, superbly thoughtful and thorough review. Especially helpful for a real novice. I now plan to buy this inverter through your link. However, I am confused, as I want to wire directly into my RV 12V electrical system. In one comment, you said “ In your RV, use the inverter as is, don't ground it.” Also, you connected an AC plug to the inverter with only +/- wires without a ground in your testing. There is only a 2-wire connection for permanent wiring, but a separate ground connection. My confusion is because my present 2000 watt inverter has a 3-wire connection for permanent wiring AND a separate chassis ground connection. How do I safely wire this inverter? Both the permanent 3-wire connection ground AND the chassis ground to the same ground connection? Neither grounded? Doesn’t the direct connection neutral wire to my RV system have to be grounded? I don’t want to burn something up? I found a copy of the instruction online, but they do not explain or help. All comments and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you again for your wonderful reviews.

I've mounted an EDECOA 12/230V 50 Hz some years ago in my van and I am thinking of installing again the same brand in my new one. The only problem I've had with my first one was a slight noise (only noticeable on sensible devices like the TV antenna amplifier) which I believe was backfed into the 12V rail, and the reluctancy to start my ASUS PC's PSU (unless soft-started with the Inverter or tried a second time, presumably before the main filtering caps were completely bled). I'd really like to see an EDECOA whipped to the test ;)

@m80116
@m80116 2 роки тому
@@darylcheshire1618 It depends on the specific model. During the last 5 years I've bought two of these PURE sine wave inverters and I am pleased to report they've got even better. No humming of course and if you have short and beefy cables they absolutely deliver what they claim. My first one refused to stay on when I plugged my ASUS 180W PSU and I attribute 90% of the fault to that popping PSU: it's not normal to plug to the mains with such a loud popping electricity sound. The out-rush over current protection tripped and I had to resort to soft start to connect it. The newer one doesn't trip like the old one. I haven't taken measurements but the reassuring behavior was the first one not the latter. Still I am very pleased since the newer it's even got a built in instant power meter (in Amperes).

These 12v inverters will be connected to large start lead acid batteries as tool use draw large amounts of current for short periods of time. But I'm also thinking of using a 3000w inverter with a 48v input using my 40v ryobi lithium batteries for use with my large bandsaw. Input voltage range between 36vdc to 50 max. Any thoughts? P.S. I noticed that your inverter mosfets were cooled with internal heatsinking and not the outer aluminum case like so many others.

Question. I've a submersible water pump that I intend to use , Off-grid, for 12 hours every day,. The water pump power rating is 1700w(1.7kw). I also have an array of Solar Panels of 3600w output capacity. I've no need for battery or charge controller, only an Inverter, as I don't need to store energy. I intend to use the power directly on the appliance. What size/capacity of Off-grid Solar Power Inverter do I need to buy. Thank you.

I just bought the 12v version of this inverter mostly because of this review. I need this inverter because I bought a110 v /60hz gas dryer 5.2 cu which has a sensor for the correct frequency since it is gas the electric one don't have the sensor and I shipped it overseas but the volt there is 220/50hz I used a transnormal but the dryer gave me an error (frequency not suffusion). My question is can I use Gophert CPS power supply like the one you are using instead of 12 v battery since I have power at home? and I only need it to transfer the Hertz or what other alternative power should I use?. Thank you very much for this video!
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 роки тому
Hi there. The CPS needs to be able to supply enough current. If your gas dryer needs 100W at 120V, then you'll need a 10A power supply unit. Thanks for watching!

Hey man I have a question. I am looking to open a small pop up coffee tent (under a gazebo). I have been searching everywhere for an answer. But I intend on using a coffee machine. (One where I just place a cup underneath and press the button on the screen and it’ll make the required coffee). Is there such a battery or inverter that can buy that can deal with this for say 6/7 hours? The machine will stay on at all times obviously - but won’t be USED as such until a customer wants a coffee. What would you recommend I do in regards to powering this for around 6/7 hours. Thanks for the video btw man, so helpful in my next steps!

Ive just bought this inverter, and I am glad you said it was ok, now I need to know why its bleeping and the batteries are full. I have connected 2 12v batteries 100 ah each with the wireing in Parrell, and as you know one wire is from positive to negative in the other battery, all connections are thick good quality copper, but the positive to the negative wire connecting both batteries is thinner could this be the problem? I had a modified inverter before and it had the same prob,so sent it back. also the inverter say you should not connect positive to negative, but if not how can one do parell conections?
@kylemedbery6664
@kylemedbery6664 Рік тому
Parallel wiring is positive to positive & negative to negative maintaining voltage output of batteries but increasing amp hrs. You have described series wiring which will increase voltage adding the batteries voltage together.. which is why you are experiencing issues by putting your devices into over voltage protection. Please be very careful working with any form of electricity. Batteries can be very dangerous!!

I am planning on buying one of these inverters but I already have a Micro-Air soft start for my air conditioning unit on my camper that I have not yet installed. Should I go ahead and install the Micro-Air soft start or would this inverter negate the need for it? Is having 2 soft-starts OK?

@huskypup3489
@huskypup3489 3 роки тому
All these inverters seem to use cheap, automotive fuses in parallel on the input, soldered to the PCB. Generally, fuses should not be put in parallel, and soldering them to the board makes it a PITA to replace them, but every inverter I've seen uses this protection scheme.
@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 роки тому
Yes Peter, it's the same for the great majority. The fuses aren't soldered to the board, you press them into female blade connectors that are soldered to the board. Thanks for watching!

@electronicsNmore
@electronicsNmore 3 роки тому
Actually, it's 60-0-60. Measuring from ground prong to either side is 60V. If installed in a shed, house, garage, etc, then you would connect the ground prong to the aluminum housing, then the aluminum housing to earth ground using a metal rod and clamp. In your RV, use the inverter as is, don't ground it.

You can buy a #12 heavy duty power cord(3 prong), cut the middle of the cord and separate the wires. Attach clamps to each end of the plastic box and insert the wires. Next strip 1/2" of the insulation off of each conductor. Then connect both white wires together using yellow wire nuts inside the box, both green wires together, and the black wires go to each side of the breaker installed inside the box. Drill a hole in a blank cover to mount the breaker. Very simple. amzn.to/3cPa7Dp amzn.to/390jTRP amzn.to/3lzKD0t amzn.to/30Zuk3J (Amazon Affiliate Links)
