No. He's shocked because Ukrainian armed forces doesn't have advanced technology nor sufficient ammunition like the US armed forces (except the ones provided by the US). Artillery and bullets are rationed in Ukraine - they plan and prioritize who should receive supplies immediately due to lack of resources. It's like the westerners experiencing how hard it is to live in the global south. Russia doesn't have any of these supply issues but they failed initially because their numerical superiority, conventional heavy weaponry, firepower and air superiority couldn't overpower the weaponry provided by the US which were less but very advanced and lethal. Russia fell back in advanced technology because after the fall of USSR government didn't fund research and the corrupt oligarchs in defense industries with government contracts never really made any contribution.

Which was indeed a big loss. In the cold war loss, Russia got more damage than in WW2. In cold war Russia always sucked. That is totally true. But, not in military strength. I suspect I know why . The actual useful commited volunteers seem to have been able to adapt and seem to function well. Of course the attrition rate can be high. Switched on experienced people will always be welcome there, including non frontline volunteers. I doubt this bloke had a clue nor indeed much to offer. First, I remind them that we have no extradition treaty with the Russians. If your captured. They can do anything they want to you. Second, if you've never fired a rifle at a human being, don't start. Once you open the door, it can't be closed again. Who you are before you shoot someone and after are very different people.

I mean you look the polls when it comes to "Should we go to war/send troops to X country?" and the numbers are usually high. Then the question - "Would you enlist or deploy to X country?" and the numbers are dramatically lower. Troops are the VAST minority of a population that more often encourages them to martyr for peoples own ideas that they themselves wouldn never sacrafice for. Look at politicians, celebrities, oligarchs, and thier families. Dont see thier kids get blown away - but they'll send thoughts and prayers.

Going to war is no joke. The people you’re trying to kill also have a vested interest in staying alive also and will resist hard to ensure they survive and you die. If you go over to the Ukraine to fight, these are the questions you might want to consider. 1. Am I truly prepared to die for this cause? 2. Am I willing to risk being seriously maimed or disfigured? 3. Have I considered the consequences now and in the future regarding what war fighting will do to me physically and mentally? 4. Who will be leading me into battle, do I trust their competence, or will they be careless with my life? 5. What am I actually fighting for, do I really believe in the cause? 6. What if I change my mind, will I be allowed to leave? 7. How do the rules of war (The Geneva Convention) protect me if I am captured by the enemy? 8. Am I fit enough, psychologically prepared and militarily competent enough to go to war? 9. How do I actually feel about the concept of killing? 10. Will I be payed, compensated for injury or have access to medical care and pensions when I’m finished? 11. What impact will my service have on my family and loved ones? Neither NATO nor the US or UK are officially in this war. The (former) soldiers going there are mercenaries. You can earn good money over there. Around 1000 to 2000 dollars per day depending on your experience. The problem is, that these mercenaries are used to fight untrained people with AK47 in some dessert village after bombing the whole country for 40 days. This is how the US usually does it. This time it is different. They are fighting a well trained profesisonal army that is probablsy winning without air support. It is not only the weather. The job is really much harder this time. That is what he is warning other mercenaries about.

You need to realise - Odessa is Russian city, formed by Katherine the Great. Russian and Ukrainians ARE THE SAME PEOPLE! Except for the West Ukrainians, who are mixture of Russina, Polish, Hungarians, Romanians, etc. Most of Ukraine is former Russian heritage - reason why all cities have Russian names! Ukraine itself was turned into "a country" in 1991. There was no Ukraine prior to that. Additional proof - there are no Ukrainian-language books or documents in history that date earlier then 1947 - This language was created artificially. This is reason why Ukrainians are Russian-speaking population. So those who divide Ukrainians and Russians, and trying to separate Ukrainians form Russian culture - are nuts.

It's Obama who gave the idea of Ukaraine's NATO membership. Now Ukraine is suffering. Russians, with their experience, know that there cannot be anything like occupation. Their idea is to destroy Ukraine's infrastructure. And they have been successful in that. They have 'liberated' Luhansk and Donetsk. They have also destroyed the dam that Ukraibe had built, which had destroyed 90% of Crimea's agriculture. Ukraine could have taken a lesson from the loss of Crimea in 2014, but it didn't. If Russia didn't care about civilian deaths, it would have done lot more damage, lot earlier. Theur typical modus operandi is to encircle a city and announce safe passage and safe time for passage. Once that time passes, whoever is left is a combatant. That's why Ukrainians were not letting people leave. Now Ukrainians are placing their ammunition in civilian buildings and firing feom there. @fludblud

Now that the lines have somewhat stabilised, they've started dividing the international volunteers there based on competence. Trained combat vets get assessed on their skills before being assigned to a unit of their speciality while untrained applicants are now being put on a waitlist pending further needs. Ultimately the biggest value of the international volunteers isnt capability but morale. According to people I've talked to, the mere physical presence of a foreigner even if doing something mundane like checkpoint duty has been very reassuring to local Ukrainians in reminding them that the world knows their plight and is backing them up. After all its one thing to change your facebook profile picture or donate money from afar or even send weapons, but leaving the safety of your home to enter an active warzone and risk your life standing side by side with a complete stranger against a common foe? That resonates, especially to people who have hit rock bottom and lost everything. EDIT: They are currently not accepting volunteers unless they have VERIFIABLE combat experience, apparently the number of combat vet volunteers has been so much they are upping the requirements.

There is about a ten to one ratio for support and the troops actually shooting bullets. There was a clip about a week ago revealing that the Ukrainian's are fully aware that some people are just not suited for battle (one of the reasons they were looking for people with battle experience first) and the chap pointed out that many people volunteering to fight were simply not up to it and wouldn't be allowed to do so. Those people will likely find themselves helping civilians, running supplies, looking for bodies in the rubble of downed buildings etc. etc. etc. and would form part of that 9 person support group supporting the one with the rifle. Hence while the video is accurate from a pure battle perspective, it completely misses the idea that only one in ten actually shoots the bullet and their contribution is both valuable and critical.

Stop the bloodshed! GOD is telling us that we are living in the END times, the world is on the brink of the 7year Tribulation. Please get rapture ready: accept JESUS CHRIST as your Lord and Savior today!!! Don't be deceived by the coming ANTIchrist who will "create order out of chaos"! Study biblical end times prophecy, listen to Dr. Ron Rhodes on end times chronology. Blessings from Alberta

@@albertafarmer8638 No hell, no heaven, it's all just a illusion. Know right, know wrong, live free of delusion. Every step we take is one toward death. Today may be the last sun that sets. There is no paradise where there is no light. These dark ages breed forever night. It only takes one martyr to bring disaster. And war will reign forever after. No time to waste on making amends. When it's all burned up in seeking revenge. Follow no leader that invokes your rage. Preserve the past and then turn the page.

I agree with this, I am a former 68W/75thID (Iraq/Afganistan) and there is a reason we train in an enviornment before we deploy, to aclamate to the combat enviornment. I salute the courage to fight but without the training you are at best cannon fodder, at worst you may end up being or causing fratricide. War is not a game, there are never winners, and no one in it comes out whole.

Nice you went and fought for USA imperialism and filling the pockets of the top 1 percent. Good job destroying a region and then pretending like it wasnt your fault.

I won't ask what you did in Iraq/Afgan (probably brought some democracy there), but it's quite strange to see international mercenaries in a place completely detached from them (like it's not their country sending them there, it's just for the money). So... Yeah, strange

People flock to wars now from across the planet, we’ve seen this in Syria and Ukraine for the last decade. Could be as simple as people simply want to or enjoy it.
