Hi Isaac, don't go to mad clearing ever thing up. The roots of those plants are what is keeping all that soil from sliding down and if that happens, it will bring the big trees with it. I'd be thinking of getting someone in to take those big trees that are on the edge of the drop off down too.

May be fun researching natural ways of keeping stuff from growing where you don't want it, may keep your environment less pharma chemicalised. It usually involves planting what you want in the area which achieves your preference and is good for your environment x

Isaac you need to get some gutter guards to cover the gutters to prevent leaves from clogging it.

Gutter screens would serve him good. Eliminate some cleaning put gutters. Still needs attention to make sure gutter screens are cleared once in awhile.

There's an attachment for your weedeater that will allow a circular saw blade to hook up in place of the string trimmer. It WILL handle those bushes you were cutting with hand pruners. I know, I know - always another tool or accessory to buy. That's what homwownership is. Happy your kitchen sink leak fix is holding up. 👍

Plant things you want on the side of your hill to hold the soil back. Otherwise, the plants you don't want will take over. It can be anything... grass, vines, flowers, small bushes. Just fill it in with something. Azaleas or Rhododendrons would be very pretty in the spring. You did a fine job! Take care! 😀

You can create wood chip mulch from the branches of your trees. Great for pathways, tracks, play areas or vege garden

Isaac I don't think you have done to much yard work in your lifetime. But your getting it done. I've taken down trees, trimmed hedges and all that stuff when I was younger. Your just going through another adventure in life. Will say this much you sure make for a great Father as the Love shines thru. Also you might want to blow some of that stuff off the roof. I had those little tree sprouts in my yard and had to cut them while they were short to keep up on it. I think you could get some edge guards, then put down weed kill, then put garden plastic rolls down and put mulch, or rock on. But I definitely would get all those trees down behind house so they cant fall on the home now or later. Plus they drop seeds so you always have them growing up. There should be someone in your community that knows how to do it without them falling on house. Take care Issac. I know Jaylena needed your hugs when she got home!

A reciprocal saw will work fine on cutting those branches. But you have to get a blade that cuts branches.

That looks like it will be a full-time cleanup job every year. I'd definitely replace it with low-growing ground cover. You don't want the hillside to be bare, of course.

You made quick work of those vine plants growing everywhere on your hillside. I’m sure it was frustrating trying to figure out the best tool to use for the job. It looked like the pruning tool worked well. But in reality it was you, the one wielding the tools, that did the work. Nice job. Issac you are learning new tools to work on the property. Gutters need cleaned out every year get covers to protect the gutters from filling up w debris. You have acidic soil because of pines so need certain plants. Ember is growing up so fast. ❤❤

I am so happy that Jaylena and her friend found a safe place to stay and that Jaylena finally got home safely. You may need to invest in some heavy duty tools. You've got some rough terrain to deal with but it beautiful. Maybe you can plant some type of grown cover on those hill side that will retard growth of other unwanted plants. Thanks for sharing.

Invest in a brush cutter blade for your string trimmer.. and a few new chains for your chainsaw. Do you have a reciprocating saw? Poor Isaac.. welcome to home ownership.. it's work for sure man but that place is looking so much better than when ya got it. Just keep at a lil at a time 😊

What you need is a gas powered weedeater with a bushwacker blade on it to get thru all that brush. Just too big a job for electric tools. Looking good what you did get done! ❤😊

I used to use a gas powered weed whacker with metal blades. Worked great. Took out all the berry bushes very easily.

Oh Isaac, the joys of homeowner! Lots of neglected maintenance you bought. Gutters are so important, clean twice yearly but you're so fortunate you don't need a ladder. I've never had luck with gutter guards, depends on what's landing on them. Bad for your shingles if overflowing. I'm concerned with those large, lovely trees that are on the edge at that spot. Ask a local but if the soil gets saturated will the roots keep them up? You're new to this, just appreciate you're home during the day and not doing this just on weekends.

Glad you got the leak fixed! I was worried for y'all and mold growing in the house. FYI... They have gutter screens you can install that keep the debris out of the gutters and keep the gutters and down spouts from clogging. And, those bushes you were whacking away at kind of look like poison sumac. If that's what it is, don't touch it with your bare hands! Read up on it. Nasty stuff. Worse than poison ivy or oak and dangerous to burn. If you inhale the smoke while burning, it'll cause some major issues in your lungs, etc. Very dangerous. With you being in a wooded area, it could very likely be that. Hope it's not, but wanted to let you know just in case. 🤞🙏

Issac get gas powered tools work much better. Or I have corded hedge trimmer it works excellent. I have gas chainsaw and they are awesome use very little body energy or energy or gas. Can cut stuff so much quicker. You’ll never go back to battery once you try a real one.

Those battery operated tools are for little jobs here and there. Not designed for real jobs. City jobs cutting branches once in a while. You’ll see how much quicker the job goes with the right tools.

Gutter screens still need to be cleared and in my experience they are more of a pain than having none, because everything gets caught up amongst them. Regular inspections, with that many trees, pine needles and leaves is the best. Guessing by the size of those trees, they were there before the house...? Not great positioning for sure, of either trees or house but probably trees there simply to stop any landslides..?

Looks like your chain saw is dull. Chain saw needs to have higher RPM to cut faster too. They make metal blades to work on string trimmers that work better than using the string attachment.

Your hard work is paying off. It looks great. Just don't be surprised if a lot of that grows back quickly this spring. I agree with others, make sure you have something growing there. The root system helps prevent erosion and the plants absorb some of the water. Pick something you like, possibly a low-growing, spreading plant. Just be careful because things like decorative ivy can be hard to get rid of and cause more of a problem. Go to your local nursery, Lowes, etc this spring and look for things sold as native for your area. Better yet, talk to a specialist about what would be a good low-maintenance ground cover for that area. Keep up the hard work!

3/6/24: 🙏💪Beautiful piece of PROPERTY, WOW,😮 you are lucky those GUTTERS are still attached, that's alot of WATER WEIGHT, Thank Goodness, you checked the Down Spout, looks GREAT getting all that Shrubbery/WEED, Blackberry Bushes....outta there, thats Beautiful wall of StoneWork laid, Gonna powerwash the MOSS OFF??? Doesn't always go as planned, wellll, it's all about being productive and it's your Investment and SAFE Haven... It's looking Really GOOD 💯 ISAAC 👍, WISH I lived closer, I LOVE Getting rid of overgrown shrubs, Weeds, Etc.. It's WILD THISTLE, used for Medicinal purposes, it's a tough Plant ... You need to get a gutter mesh put on there, it catches leaves, sticks etc but lets the water drain. Your chainsaw blade is either too loose or needs chain oil or needs sharpening. ❤
