So many mixed feelings one year in....I remember when I first saw how beautiful the Museum and the graphics were...I wanted to cry with happiness.💞 I was initially impressed and loved how streamlined so many things were (from the perspective of someone who played since the first game) ❤ I also felt so much joy when I saw there were time zones for the Southern Hemisphere, how there were avatars for people of all skin colours, and when I could 📫 post things to friends online. 🌟 Letters were something my friends and I used to excitedly talk about at school and we'd get so excited at the idea of being able to mail to other online players. So having those new abilities was so amazing. I missed speaking with Rover, but I loved being able to pick my own appearance and seeing where the houses went (instead of on top of my outdoor chess board or hybrid flower patch) a part of me worried too much control and micromanagement would ruin the game......and in some ways after the convenience wore off I think the total control of the Island did take away the feeling of being in a community.... as opposed to just playing a worse quality version of the Sims. I did really miss Shampoodle and how all the NPC characters added to the sense of a real town. It's like we are too "omnipotent" instead of a neighbour or friend. I don't like that. I want my friend animals to be able to catch the fish and bugs too. I want them to be able to invite me over and visit again. And finally have the ability to hug. I liked that beloved characters couldn't stress me out by frequently moving away....but I also thought that all the control I had took away from the feeling of the animals being friends. Maybe there is a middle ground? The repetition of dialogue and lack of new personalities was sad. 🌟The way no new faces can just plonk themselves somewhere at first seemed good....but soon just having very few surprises wore thin. That said Pinky and Raymond moved into blank plots when I took a break - and they are some of my favorites now. I had no idea how much Raymond would live up to the hype for me. ❤ I'm so glad he just moved onto my Island - he's been so lovely. Things like that make the game for me as there are characters I've made friendships with after they moved in unexpectedly or I was looking for someone else and found them instead. ✨✨✨Recently I was looking for Judy or Pietro but then stumbled on Diana on a mystery Island. She was so nice to me that I invited her instead. I can see why she is beloved as she's really kind and also I love her pastel purple hair. 🌟 Having Pinky move in was heartwarming too because the last time I saw her was on the Gamecube and having her "come back" was more touching than I expected. Serendipity really gives the game a sense of magic, so the whole "auction" thing is a bit depressing for me personally. I do like getting a villager from a friend or online person in the sense they need a good home. I think that's sweet and I like that they remember the past. When I heard the hourly music and had to admit that was disappointing. I thought that wasn't much of a complaint with how beautiful everything seemed at first. But I think the move from "minimalistic and whimsical" to kinda loud band sounds was a bit symbolic. It's just a bit more generic. Then I loved the creativity of crafting - but soon bored of constant tool breakage and no ability to mass craft things. Overall it is a stunning game visually, but felt so empty compared to New Leaf. I also found the "aesthetic" community that came in with New Horizons to be stressful. Some aspects of the community were already creeping in around the New Leaf era. 🌟 I love the wonderful creativity of some of the Islands, but I wouldn't swap that for the time before players said sad things like "seeing this makes me want to flatten my whole Island" and get down on their aesthetics instead of relaxing and talking with cute animals. I'm both excited and worried about the Sanrio DLC. I'm going to get it if I can in Australia......but I worry instead of adding depth and content to the game that Nintendo will go the "easy cash" way of things and just start selling popular characters and items as payable DLC. People keep commenting they want more like Zelda etc...and I wonder if that's something they really want or perhaps QOL + actual content rather than more paid characters who will ultimately say all the same things. After the shine of the new features and graphics wore off I think NH is a good game, but New Leaf was an excellent game I'll never forget.

It's crazy how this game is only gonna be a year old by the end of this month and it's already the second best selling game on the switch the console that can sell water to a drowning man. Also I love the warp pipes I've used them to set up a fast travel system throughout my island which is so cool.

I don't know who their narrator is, but she has a beautiful voice.

If you have 2 pipes with 1 pipe being outside and 1 pipe being inside your home you can take a pipe to go inside your home (if you are outside) or outside (if you are inside your home) with a loading screen between them. [Also, you could put a pipe in one of your inside rooms and block of the entrance from that room in your home so that room could be used a secret base that is only accessible via a Wrap Pipe.]

Why did I just cry because my island looks the same again like the beginning, with the same trees and fish. This game and just the music alone brings me to a happy place. When I’m stressed I just play this game and be happy. All my problems are gone and I’m happy.

This game taught me how to take things at a slower pace and enjoy simple things as the changing seasons, blooming flowers and etc... Which is why it entered my list of favorite games. But yeah, ngl, I still hope for a big update though.

So what’s this about the animal crossing team for switch is operating on a “skeleton crew” ? I opened pocket camp on my phone for the first time in months and sure enough hundreds of new furniture items event on top of event on top of cookies on top of flower event like always dose it really only come down to paid content that they focus their time and energy on? Will we ever get the same level of events and content like the pocket camp gets or I’m I just getting my hopes up 🥲
