That's the first thing I thought. All of these women are now traumatized and may even experience years of PTS. Violent crime is supposedly down. Are they counting these misdemeanors as violent crime? Cuz they sure are violent! A punch to the head has often caused comas, brain injuries and death.

You are applying the term INCORRECTLY. They are being released on NO CASH Bail ; or you can say NO BOND Bail. " Release on your Own Recognizance" is basically NO-CASH ( a.k.a. NO-BOND) Bail. "Bail" itself IS the release from custody. Many people, NOT🚫 just you, apply this MISNOMER .

@north2green It's very common to show booking photos of people who are arrested of various crimes, if not video of initial court appearances. In fact, it's unusual to not show the photos, except specifically in cases of those under 18-years old. That's why.

PEOPLE WITH EXTENSIVE CRIMINAL RECORDS SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED. The legal system owes to citizens to do a better job of protecting us and keeping us safe. Sorry, not sorry. But if you have history of repeated crimes, you should lose your rights to be free in public. Authorities need to track if these "trends" are planned in internet chat rooms or homeless shelters? Just seems odd that it's different and different women in a short time span.

There are "One Punch" laws in Australia. “A person who unlawfully strikes another person to the head or neck and causes the death of the other person is guilty of a crime”. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment. The law is specifically designed to address situations where a single punch leads to a fatality or significant harm.

1:20 "I feel pretty safe but that's not an EXCUSE to let my guard down". Surely that is one of the most heartbreaking results of the state of violent crimes in the US these days. When keeping 'your guard up' is something you are expected to do 24/7 because nobody is safe and somehow you are responsible for whatever violence comes upon you simply because you were walking down the street with your guard down. Young adults these days have never known a society where you didn't have to have your head on a swivel every second of every day. You didn't have to carry a firearm. You felt safe at school. You didn't feel guilty for 'letting' someone get close enough to you to hurt you. This is just craziness! Walking down the street should not be a chore that.

This probably is not a new trend; it's just getting increased media attention because people are noticing the TikTok videos. A woman I work with was punched in the head by a homeless man more than a year ago while she walked down the sidewalk in downtown Portland, Oregon. I assume this happens every single day in every major city in the country.
