The best running back I've ever seen...he was so good it's like he had pity on the rest of the league and retired in his prime he would've played 4 or 5 more years he would've held every major rushing record by a mile today, another all-time great on a bunch s**ty lions teams...give him that Dallas offensive line Emmit Smith had and he would've rushed for 2,000 yards plus every year he was that great...second only to Jim Brown in average yards per game for his career with 102 yards per game with no real o line for ten years

Anytime anyone says yea but Barry has the most lost yards behind the line of scrimmage I say “ YEA, That’s just more proof of how BAD THE O’Line Was . “ Barry played with the worst O’Line of any great runners . OJ is the closest to that of still being 1 of Thee GOAT’s & did it behind a turd line. Also , OJ got His 2k in 14 Games But so did Barry . The Final 14 after only having 35 total through the 1st 2 weeks , 35 or 53 through 2 weeks and then EXPLODED For the final 14 weeks of the 1997 Season going over 100 every week 14 straight to break 2k Rush Yards on My 18th Birthday 12/21/97 My All Time Favorite Player Broke 2k for the 2nd Most Single Season Rush yards on My 18th Birthday 😊 Now 3rd after amazing AD AP insane comeback season Herman Moore was A Great WR The Best Player Barry played with on either side of the ball But the best QB was Rodney fricken Pete So when You have turd QB’s it almost notifies being blessed to play with a Herman Moore who got injured before they could do anything anyways Which was part of the reason why Barry retired His Best Teammates were gone Best OL Lomas Brown to Giants Best WR & Overall Player Herman Moore injured Maybe Best Defender MLB Chris Spielman to Bills Best Defender Barry played with was either MLB Chris Spielman or OLB Pat Swilling Bennie Blades & Mark Carrier were good players but not Great at all and none of these players I’ve mentioned all played together at once . So weak Defenses , Weak QB’s & Weak O’line’s is what Barry still made succeed So that tells You that Barry was literally Thee Reason Lions even made The Playoffs 🦁 20 🐐

Tom Mecom gave me a silver Saints bracelet and stickers and more. The old 70's Saints logo with the dude is one of my favorites. I have personal letters from him with his real signature on them. Al Davis was good to me also. Hell almost all the old owners sent me personal letters and merchandise. Ralph Wilson owned the Buffalo Bills and their team headquarters was in the Renaissance Center in Detroit. I have OJ Simpson high quality black and white glossy action photos of him. GREAT VIDEO. Thank you! No question in my mind that Barry is the GOAT running back. Also, no question that Barry is the most humble sports star of all time. His personality was just as jaw-droppingly interesting as his skills. Many people were dumbfounded as to why this man retired so close to the all-time rushing record. But they forgot, this is the same man who ran for over 2600 yards in a 12-game college season, and didn't want the Heisman. Didn't care about it. Was GENUINELY embarrassed and displeased to have to endure the individual attention of receiving the accolade. They also forgot that this is the man who, on multiple occasions from high school through his professional career, avoided chasing any records. If his team had secured the win, he sat down and let someone else play, no matter how close he was to breaking some record. This shows us what's important in Barry's mind: 1) team winning, and 2) avoiding as much individual attention as possible. Fast forward to the 1989; Barry retires from the NFL. His "desire to leave the game was greater than his desire to stay." Did he desire to leave the losing ways of the Detroit Lions? That's definitely part of it; he was a winner, and the Lions were not giving him that opportunity. But, based on his personality, i think that in equal part he desired to leave the looming prospect of earning one of (if not the) highest individual accolades in professional football; Leading Rusher in NFL history; i.e. the GOAT RB. I think that, like the Heisman, he wanted no parts of that. Especially since he had no team-success to accompany it. As 1+1=2, Team losing + Individual accolades = Barry retirement. Not dumbfounding at all, given his personality. By retiring prior to reaching Payton's mark, Barry did what he could to juke the title of GOAT. Too bad, Barry. Sorry to say, the vast majority of NFL players, former players and coaches still consider you the greatest RB of all time, stats or no stats...

Barry was incredible to watch even when he was on the opposing team. I'm a Vikings fan and he made my defense look like fools twice a year. I was still impressed watching him.

Damn! Glad to see a new Barry video. This is the best one yet. Been a Lions fan my whole life. 50+ yrs now. Never saw anything like Barry in my life. And I watched OJ Simpson's career too. God said "I'm gonna make the best RB today." And i thank God i got to see his handiwork in person. He broke my heart when he retired. I didn't cry! I had something in my eye!

The one thing every Barry run had in common, he handed the ball to the ref every time. The run itself is a celebration, no need for it after the fact. The thing that stood out was how humble he was as I grew up watching him play. Too bad the Lions couldn't have put together an offensive line like Dallas had back in those days.
@johnboehmer6683

One more thing every Barry Sanders run had in common, something I've never heard anyone else take notice of, is he ran not just with effort, but desperation, giving his absolute all to scratch out and get every last possible centimeter he could on every, and I mean every run! Most guys will give genuine effort to most plays, none played with desperation of effort like the quiet, unassuming Mr Sanders. Just one more thing to love about the guy.

Undoubtedly the greatest running back to ever play the game. I was born and raied in Detroit and was blessed to have been able to see him play in person, and believe me, as exciting as it is to watch him play on tv, it was something truly amazing to see in person.. I can remember trying to convince myself that what I just saw really happened and before I can , he does something, just as , if not more amazing.

I loved Barry for the reasons I still love him today. Humility, kindness, decency and class. There will never be another Barry Sanders. I knew what I was witnessing would never be repeated in my lifetime. He really showed what the "little guys" could do. All he ever did was let his actions speak for him and the rest of us small guys. Funny how the greatest of all time, Barry Sanders and Wayne Gretzky in their respective sports were not supposed to do much. No one realized what they were. The way they were brought up was a reflection of the class acts they were off the field. I lived in a time where the greatest ever played. I would love to put Wilt Chamberlain in this class but he wasn't the same. An unparalleled athlete but not the same humility. Wilt was supposed to be great and he was the greatest but these guys. Hats off to the underdogs and little men. There will never be another athlete like them.

Barry Sanders is still in 2023 the best running back the NFL game has every seen. No player had all around toughness, elite speed, joystick moves, above elite vision, and endless drive. Never seen it. With less never had a complement player on his team on offense or defense. He was the person everyone came to see and no one else in Detroit made you want to look at the TV.

I remember when everyone wanted to be like Mike. Yet I wanted to carry like Barry. I was never a Lions fan. But I was a Sanders fan. He brought to the game something that many had never seen before. His split second moves cutting thru the line broke many of ankles. Yet what is just as equally impressive? Is his humility. He let his blinding speed and neck breaking jukes do the talking. Him handing or tossing the ball to the refs after every score speaks volumes to the man that he is. No matter which RB holds the all time leading rusher title when it's all said and done? In my books Barry Sanders will be the greatest runner back ever!! Thank Mr. Sanders for the many memorable moments. GOD bless you always sir..

In my opinion hands down Barry Sanders is the Best Running Back of all time he was an electrifying runner everybody enjoy watching him play. If he didn’t retired early he would hold the # 1 running back record. The way he would make players miss juke stiff arm spin move stop on the dime go in one direction stop and go the other direction. He was awesome to watch. He is the Best RB of all time. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
