If the plane really had a bomb and was detonated, the debris could be falling on houses and people down there, so the MiG-29 has the tootls to prevent that, to shoot it down where the debris wouldn't kill people on the ground. Because that's what happened in my country in 1989, a MiG-23 crashed in a house killing one person because nobody destroyed the MiG above a clear area.

@@jetterjohnIt's not the pilot's decision to shoot the plane. They're not there to play guess games but follow orders from their superiors who makes the decisions to shoot the plane before the bomb "could" be detonated. That's the purpose of the QRA.
