British comedian Ben Elton joins Andrew Marr and shares his thoughts on the 'resurgence' of former Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Truss is currently on a book tour to promote her 'political memoir' titled Ten Years to Save the West.' Appearing on LBC with Iain Dale, she made a number of bold statements, including urging the Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey to resign, branding Net Zero as 'economic suicide', and claiming critics of her mini-budget are merely trying to 'smear' her.
Speaking on Truss, Elton says the ex-PM is driven by 'ego' and that he finds her attempts to return to power as 'depressing to the point where it's truly sad.'
Elton also addresses where he stands on 'cancel culture' in comedy at the moment, stressing that 'nobody is trying to close comedians down' and that 'people have the right not to be exposed to hate.'
