14 днів томуAs Liz Truss's publicity tour for her new book continues, James O'Brien reacts to the former Prime Minister's latest assertion in an interview with the Telegraph that the 'power exercised in Britain by unelected people is a scandal.'
James wonders how the ex-PM can say such a thing when she 'was unelected on a national level and nodded through by a hereditary monarch'.
Truss also spoke to LBC recently and made a number of bold statements, which included urging the Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey to resign, branding Net Zero as 'economic suicide', and claiming critics of her mini-budget are merely trying to 'smear' her.

To be fair Blair awarded 374 life peerages from 97-07, even Cameron only awarded 245, so total 717 and of that 408 were awarded by Labour, so Labour has the majority. Please don’t see this as support for liz truss, just that it’s been going on for a long time by both.

When you vote in a general election, you’re really voting for a party to form a government. In this case the Conservatives won and the term is around 5 yrs. Labour will do the same if Starmer goes, and will be replace by who the party elects because we’ve already given them the authority to govern us for the term. Neither side will change this as if a pm has resigned it usually means they’re very unpopular so if you have a GE the government could be out after 6 months so not very stable for economy.

I worked with a manager who was like this. He was a company man with no real talent so he followed the orders to the letter whether they made sense or not. Liz Truss is raising the art of hypocrisy to new levels. Considering that her Kami Kwasi tax policies rapidly brought the U.K. economy to it’s knees within days of her coming to power, I think a sustained period of complete silence from her would be completely appropriate, and much appreciated. Her judgement has been shown to be so catastrophic that her political opinions have become completely irrelevant.

we keep going down this rabbit hole don't we... much as I hate Liz Truss and all the Tories to that matter - we DON"T VOTE FOR A PRIME MINISTER in this country.. The Conservatives won the election in 2019... they did win that election. The party chooses the leader... not the general public that is how it is here... stop promoting the myth that we vote for our Prime Minister - only people in that person's constituency does that... We vote for an individual who is supposed to represent us in parliament; be them Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, Green etc... the biggest party gets to be the government; they choose who will be their leader...
