I just had my 4iiii dual crankset installed. Can't wait to try it outside.

I've got the 105 version for almost for 2 years now. Bought it for 200€ new, you can't beat the value you get for your money. Never had a problem with it indoors or outdoors (about 14000km). Now that I have a smart trainer, the numbers are pretty close. Just make sure to recalibrate it now and then when the temperature changes a lot. I would recommend to tape it with black electro tape around the battery cap if you ride in the rain just to be on the safe side.

The 4iiii single sided crank arm power meters are a great option. I've got Favero Assioma dual sided power meter pedals that I use on my road bikes, but I wanted something inexpensive for my gravel bike and found the 4iiii GRX crank arm was a really nice and inexpensive option for me. Works flawlessly and appears to be pretty accurate.

Spot on with the assessment of the value of single-sided for training. Even if you're a super pro, a single-sided meter is all you need for training so long as the readings it gives are accurate.

My power meter is on its way from Canada. Is there an alternate to the shimano tool you used? I don’t have it. If it is needed then I will have to use my LBS to install mine once it arrives. I have Ultegra on my Canyon Ultimate CF SL. Rim brake for life😂

The 4iiii worked great for me for about a year. It then started to show nonsense numbers unfortunately. The scaling also got messed up: I used my kickr for adjustment. 200w and matched them evenly. After 10 mins the 4iiii then showed 170 w ...

I have 2 of these power meters on both of my bikes (an R7000 and an R8000 one). Like you, I got my R8000 one days before the v3 announcement (but I paid full price lol). The 800h of the v3 would be nice, but I'm happy with the v2. It's an excellent power meter.

I'm returning to cycling after about a 9 year hiatus after retiring from racing. We used Stages on on my last team (single sided) and we didn't have an issue. We when compared with an SRM or Quarq the differences were marginal and didn't impact out training. This is a new company and I'd be interested to see how it stacks up against a stages.

I that 4iiii crank too and it's been great, highly recommended for anyone starting out. NOTE: You will need a bike computer! 4iiii does not link to Strava. It can upload files to Strava but they are not very detailed. Get yourself a Wahoo Bolt v2 computer.

I got the Ultegra left crank Precision model and 210 Euros yesterday which is good deal as long it works :). Now have to wait 3 weeks to get it delivered.

I have had a single sided and a dual sided. Why I prefer the dual sided even though my left / right balance is good? Because if one of them goes haywire then I will know because the left/right balance will be way off.

Darn my right leg is probably my stronger leg, because I always have it clipped in, while the left serve as a stand when I am stopped. Which means when I have to go and can't get my left leg clipped in on time I rely solely on my right leg to power until I can.

What is your favorite power meter, and why?

I have the same (only 105 version on my otherwise full Ultegra drivetrain because… cycling is expensive 😭). I am a big fan! Like you I have problems with my Powertap P2s and unlike you I don‘t trust my Wahoo Kickr 2018‘s power readings as far as I can throw them as they drift out of calibration incerdibly fast 🤣 4iiii left cranck does the job without any issues!

A simple answer - No! It’s most definitely not the best affordable power meter. At least not in my experience. The one that I purchased has never worked properly - power readings are nonsense. I’m really angry that 4iiii sold this rubbish.
