Hi, Nance! Great stories. And "no", the second story was not too long; the longer ones are just as GOOD as the shorter stories. As a matter of fact, the longer stories offer the listeners more situational info; it is like being right in the story; it allows our imaginations to picture the story in our own minds as you are telling it. Of course, your outstanding narration makes the stories ALL THE BETTER! So, keep them coming; short or long, we love them all! Thank you, Nance, and I pray You, your Husband and Family are all happy and healthy❣Blessings, Lindsay, Sacramento.

Nanc, Your story about the gentleman who didn’t like to pick up the Buckeyes in his grandmothers yard. And it reminded me of this interesting fact that I was brought face to face with the reality of it. Shortly after graduation from undergraduate school in Georgia, I started a job In the Mountains Of North Georgia in the early 1970s. I was born in the mountains of Western Virginia but moved to Florida by age 8 and really did not have any knowledge of the forest of the Appalachian Mountains other than loving to see them and to wonder of with cousins on visits. But back to my job and the Mountains. I was riding with my friend who had grown up there and he took me to a place named “Woody’s Gap” named after a man that had been a forester there and was hired in the early 1900s when the National Forest were founded and who was famous as a Forest Ranger who took care of the woods like they were his. Defending them against poachers, moonshiners, illegal loggers and if I remember correctly, against outlaws/robbers. Anyway the road was very winding and we pulled over in a very tight curve with a space barely large enough for 2 cars. He led me down a path about 60 feet below and tucked into a very tiny curve in the terrain were 2 large trees. We had taken plant identification for trees of Georgia, but I could not identify them other then they were the same. He picked up a fruit and handed it to me, but no luck. I still didn’t think that i had ever seen one. He chuckled, knowing that he got one on me and said, “these are the largest and second largest Buckeye trees in the world”. And really had a laugh on me. As it turned out by shear coincidence, Mr Woody’s son who was at least pushing 80 was in the car ahead of us, but that’s a different part of the story that I won’t bother you and your Buckeyes with. I will close by saying that I hope you appreciate our gift from Georgia, Justin Fields! The old professor Live Free or Die!

@clanrobertson7200

Kerry Wright Kerry, I think that the genus for Chestnut is Castaneais fentata followed by a species and then a variety. So to be related it should be the same genus. Of Aeschylus is Buckeye Based on different genus’s I would say not to related. The old professor Live Free or Die

Vondi Howe, I wish that I could agree whole heartedly, you left the category that I encountered 43 years ago in Mississippi, but you know how them folks like Cam Buckner can be down in them Mississippi back woods can be! Just kidding about Cam, but not the Mississippi Bigfoots that interrupted a going away BBQ for my wife and I at the house we had lived in while I taught my first year at the college level and my wife’s first year at public school. We lived between Mississippi State University in Starkville and her job in Columbus, both 20 miles from the house in opposite directions. It had been a challenge having just one car and an old Harley. Guess which I rode? We were young and dumb and I actually enjoyed riding the bike up out of the floodplain into the rolling hills on rainy days around freezing. Or without the rain. We really had a pleasant time there until that afternoon about a week before we loaded the U Haul and headed back to Georgia. That afternoon well before twilight, 5 adults and 2 young boys were in the back of the house near the grill. We heard a scream that stopped the conversation and scared the little boys, and the children too. But, I sucked it up and told them that it was an Artesian Bigfoot... it was a joke for the adults, but no sooner than I said it, another responded from about a mile on flat ground based on the significantly lower volume. I won’t bore you, but the yell was only about 30-40 yards from the house across the road, but it cannot have been much louder, if it were next to the cars 40 feet away. I won’t bore you with more of my story except to say that the message was clear, and it was that I was being told how lucky I was to be leaving now that they had located us after a long winter without much to eat...there was no mistaking that. So the moral of the story is, be careful putting human tested on to a creature that could be related way back, but it is the toss of the coin that you find out if you are intruding or if they are there to ask you to supper. No joke, I have to see the spacemen before they move to the top of my predator list. As my Appalachian Grandmother would say, “ignorance is bliss”. And, “The Boogerman will get you after dark”. The old professor Live Free or Die!

@@clanrobertson7200 Fantastic report! And I'm not discounting a single bit of it. I'm not quite sure how it applies to my statement though. You evidently met a very angry one. I would never expect just any old Bigfoot to act like a long lost friend. That WOULD be ignorant. But there are many accounts of Bigfoot when he/she displayed more curiosity that out right anger. BUT that doesn't mean they are all friendly any more than your story would mean they are all angry. I'm simply saying, why wouldn't they have the same range of personal characteristics as any other animal. That's all.

Vondi Howe The real danger is that they have the range of emotions of humans! That might be why so many people go missing each year in public places and now in and around cities. Somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 never found. And it is world wide. The old professor Live Free or Die! Death to all Tyrants! If you can not get behind these historic declarations you are on the wrong side. No crap.

@@clanrobertson7200 Or....the BF's were hungry and wanted a little BBQ. I imagine the smell of burgers or steak cooking over a flame would be quite the temptation to a BF. A juvenile BF may have been planning to snatch some BBQ, when an adult hollered at him not to. 🤔🤔

Great encounters. As far as tree breaks, I would imagine context is important. If the trees are broken to mark territory, e.g., to block a road to keep others out, then trees may be broken on either side of the road and lain across it for that purpose. There are other contexts as well which would necessitate a different pattern based on their purpose.

Excellent story from David! Yes, it was worth the extra time to listen to it. I love when in a story there is an aspect of trust or fondness developed between us and them or a positive cooperation on some level. Needless to say, the stories of when one of them has helped or saved the life of one of us, or vice versa, are especially great, a few of which I have heard here and there.

Robert, My father worked for the FBI and then went on to work at a local PD later on as a fingerprint specialist. He passed his knowledge on to me. Trees can not be fingerprinted. The bark, no matter the type of tree, will be too rough and thereby interfering with any ridges or patterns. There couldn't be just one type of tree they break, since each area has it's own types of trees depending on the climate. The breaks go in several directions, but they don't know what it means yet. Most experienced trackers believe they could possibly mean that they could point to water, or other things they might need. They might also mean that this is my area, so stay out.

Oh Wow!!! Is that a buckeye in your picture??? We had a tree on our school yard property back when I was a kid. We were told and called it a horse chestnut tree. We used to try to pelt each other with the spikey "horse chestnuts". Hurt pretty bad if it hit your bare skin and was thrown with enough force and connected. I was never good at hitting my targets, just throwing things. But, I saw the welts some kids could inflict and received. That tree has since been cut down. I miss seeing it there. But, probably a good idea as those "fruits" were dangerous weapons in the hands of kids. 😏

true Patriot, well, their heads - and therefore their brains - are bigger, so why wouldn’t they have abilities that we do not? Humans (some humans) are academically intelligent, but we have lost most of our ‘animal’ intelligence. When it comes to this animal intelligence, Sasquatch has us beat by miles! Look at the groups that go out on ‘Bigfoot research expeditions.’ Dozens of men with all kinds of equipment, often including guns. Do you really think the Sasquatch didn’t hear them coming a half hour before they got there? Does anyone really believe at this late juncture that they don’t know what a gun is? And what it does? And that most of the men who carry those are so scared of everything, they’ll shoot first and decide if they were justified later? I’m sure there have been, and are many human/Sasquatch friendships. If I am ever so blessed, I will write in to Nance, but I’ll be damned if I would let anyone know where I lived. Humans are still curious primates, and we can never just let things be. Just like young David liked to pester little creatures, some of us never outgrow that tendency. I don’t put my friends in bad situations. I don’t trust most humans well enough to risk endangering a Sasquatch friend to that guy who thinks he’ll make millions by producing a dead body. They may be huge and scary, but they are just innocently living their lives.

Rick aka purple Hobbit, have you ever read about any of the work the researchers did with Koko (and Michael) the gorillas? They both could speak with sign language. Koko was very expressive with her emotions. I remember reading about this - after Michael became fairly good with signing, one of the researchers asked him why he often seemed sad. He told her he could remember very clearly his mother being killed by poachers, and butchered right in front of him when he was just a toddler. We are not ‘the only’ intelligent beings on this planet. I think that human’s attempt to prop ourselves up in that position is arrogant - and naive - beyond all reason.

I'm a big believer.. I've had my owe experience I think I've cought a few glimpses an had one looking there my bedroom window at me a few times. When I was 14 but I never really saw it but. My window in my bedroom was well over 6- 6 and half foot from the ground and if be reading a book by the moon light and sometimes the moon would just be gone for no reason! Not a clowd in the sky and one of the brightest moons you could! Just amazing so bright you could read by! I loved it.. Mom an dad didn't like my romance novels that I read so I'd have to wait after that want to sleep to read then lol.. So having the moon to help made my day. But then having my light go out so fast had me scared because it was like someone slowly put something infont of my little window and blocked my light all at once.. And the wood nockings an owls calling and a woman screaming and a baby crying happened ruffley about every 3 months are so in owr holler. I know that to be fact for I lived it. And here in southern tip of North Carolina's happen alot.. If you read this and would like to hear more let me know... i had rocks and small branches and pine cons throne at me walking home from school and tree nockings sounds and growling sounds growing up here in these mountains in the 1990s. And a lot of owls and lot more screams and things going missing. I've had my grandparents telling me stories over there experience too from us all growing up in these her Carolina mountains... Love your show. It's made me feel like I'm not crazy about hearing and seeing them. Thinks Michelle...

Why is that ? It’s been proven biologically , the bigger the cranium , the bigger the brain do the more intelligence a species is, like a Elephant ?? ??????

Thanks for the great encounters again, Nance! I didn’t mind you reading Brenda’s story as written. Leaving in the present tense made it more immediate and intimate. It makes me sad her boyfriend didn’t believe her, and kept insisting it was a bear! It can feel pretty lonely when those you care about don’t believe you! Kinda hope she split from him, or at least got him to admit the truth! Now David’s story- loved every bit of it! David, your writing style reminds me of Jean Shepherd, the guy who wrote A Christmas Story. Very wry, very funny! Makes me wonder if this Sasquatch observed you gathering the buckeyes before cutting your grandparents’ lawn. Very spooky that he knew buckeyes had some family significance for you. I think family means a lot to them. You made me laugh about the critters you were messing with! Made me think they probably thought of you and your friend as alien abductors! And I loved your mother’s sweetness in leaving something for “the neighbor”. This makes me hope you’re a professional writer or story teller! With Robert’s question: I think they’re possibly way markers when the trees go in one direction, maybe Do Not Enter with the big Xs. Last summer I found several large branches leaning against the fence in my side yard, looking like they were pointing at my back door. It freaked me out so I took them down. A week later there was another branch leaning on the fence in the same spot, with the smaller end of the branch wrapped around the top fence railing several times. I got rid of that, too.

Wow, 😳 I don't know what I would have done. But that's kinda creepy. Maybe a warning too others, don't think about messing with this house 🏡 like protection. I'm sure theirs good ones, and the not so nice one's, A Hole's I am sure you know what I mean. Same as in our species Unfortunately. Love and Light 🕯️ Too You and The World 🌍💞 Caring Cancerian Kat 🐱🦀♋❤️😇😇😇❤️🦋🦋🦋❤️
