An anthology of six stories by various authors, all of which centre around a mysterious, sinister or haunted room. The stories are already available on the channel as individual uploads if you prefer to listen that way, although I've taken the opportunity while producing this anthology to remaster and re-edit some of the older recordings. James, first heard read aloud at Christmas 1899 and subsequently published in 'Ghost Stories of an Antiquary' in 1904.

"Something happens in this house, and no living soul knows what it is, for they who have seen it have never yet survived to tell the tale." Legend says that no-one survives the night in the circular room at the Castle Inn, where several unexplained deaths have been popularly attributed to "fright". 'The Mystery of the Circular Chamber' originally appeared in the June 1897 issue of Cassell's Magazine. It was the first in a series of stories to feature John Bell, Victorian adventurer and "professional exposer of ghosts".
