Copycats aren't dumb, they always look for high margin items with a minimum volume to target because they know they will get shut down eventually. If only a 1000 of these sell, it isn't worth their time.

For the trainer tray. there is actually another company called Foothill who has it. I don't know which one is the copycat.

No. They haven't even given me a good reason why I've been ignored by their company after many years of having a great relationship with them. Now they're not even replying to my emails. I'm disappointed for them.

Yeah that is not a good move from them@@gplama . So many people aren't going to go near it without a Llama lab test and by you showing how good it is (as DCR did) I'm sure it would be an easy win for them. It's just the price thats the sticking point. I've messaged them on the socials like others so its disappointing to say the least.

Our ears operate logarithmically, and so a doubling of the sound pressure (i.e. +3dB), doesn't "sound" twice as loud

@@graemewoodward Google: A 3 dB increase represents a doubling of the sound intensity, so a 6 dB increase would represent a quadrupling of the sound intensity. This is because the decibel scale is logarithmic, with each 3 dB increase corresponding to a doubling of intensity.

@@kurtik9309 I'm an engineer. I work in decibels day in day out. But - as I mentioned the response of the ear is also logarithmic, and so a doubling of SPL (sound pressure) will not be perceived as a doubling of noise volume. The 'log' in the definition of the decibel scale in effect is cancelled out by how our hearing works. ( FYI: X [dB] = 10 log_10(X [linear] ) With reference to the JetBlack review - this means that a +3dB increase in the SPL from the trainer compared to a Wahoo, for example, will appear to be a relatively minor increase in noise level. *THAT* is what matters to most people viewing this article and considering a purchase.

I just get multiple dumb fans, connect each of them to a smart switch and control them with voice commands.

I think the appeal is size and weight, if you live in a small place these fans have a very high airflow/fan volume and weight ratio.

It’s a fair question. I have a Wahoo headwind unit. Perhaps I never found the right fan but prior to the headwind, I’d got several fans in my pain cave and even with them on max, I still used to sweat buckets which was ruining the bike on my trainer. I could have continued buying fans, hoping to chance on a good one but instead I decided to take a punt on the Wahoo unit and it immediately solved my problem. Yeah it’s reasonably loud and a bit of a one trick pony but it does what it’s advertised to do. If you were to sit in your arm chair with it on max then yeah it’s really unpleasant but when you’re on your limit with Zwift it might be the thing that keeps you going. In my opinion, in that scenario, you need the concentrated blast of air (well I do anyway)

A small window AC is even better. It won't move as much air but it's cold

For $200 you can get what, 6-10 of those small Honeywell floor fans and that gives you a lot more air than one expensive fan

It's a pity they are nowhere to be seen here in AU.

I have two Laskos. The heads pivot through 270°. And with a claimed flow rate of 375 cubic feet/min and an exhaust area of 15 square inches (97 cubic centimeters), that works out to a max velocity at the exhaust of 41 mph (66 kph). Love mine.
