From what I understand a spirit box is supposed to switch from one radio station to another so quickly that without supernatural intervention the random syllables, static, and music would just be nonsense..... however when this spirit box does put together a complete word or phrase.... it's always ALL from the same station..... which means that the spirit box they use doesn't actually switch as quickly or as randomly as it is supposed to. If this spirit box produced a word or phrase out of multiple different radio stations' syllables, the probability that could happen on random is so slim. That could be really compelling evidence, especially if it says something relevant or long. But so far, all it seems they've done is just listen to a radio set to scan. I think they're kind of annoyed with it and just don't put much faith in the evidence it provides anymore. #postmortem (tell us what you guys really think about how effectively the spirit box works if you aren't cowards, Shane and Ryan)

I've watched this many times now, and I really appreciate Shane asking if Ryan is alright after seeing him truly scared. He would joke around a lot, rebuffing Ryan's claims most of the time, but seeing how really shaken Ryan was, he really tried to console Ryan and agreeing that Ryan might have encountered something

that sounds kind of sweet to be honest. like, they’re together in the lighthouse after death and he wanted to make sure she got a chance to talk to them since they probably haven’t been able to. it would explain why she asked why he was leaving, because they don’t understand why he’s scared of her which is sad. they were probably just trying to have a conversation and didn’t know what they did wrong :(

There's something funny about Ryan admitting he feels more comfortable around Shane during these adventures, then cutting to Shane breathing heavily from walking up a ton of stairs.

23:44 after the music "what?" 23:46 this sounds like the back half of someone saying 'Eliza'.seems likley cause thats what we hear next. 23:54 so behind the male voice saying "eliza", it sounds like a sing-song child voice going "hello" 24:05 two theories: if this is saying "swap me" then I think it's Eliza switching out with Joseph, who then precedes to talk about falling off the roof. But I think that this actually says "Not Me", because Ryan has been talking with Joseph the whole time, and picked up him talking to Eliza. I think at least three ghosts are here during this, because while Ryan is freaking out over 23:54, there are a bunch voices talking in the background that sound farther away, as if they're further up the stairs. 24:12 "hear me?" ghost just realized that Ryan can hear him and is double checking. they have no clue what the spirit box is because they predate any tech like that. 'chimney' might be 'scaffolding' but there aren't enough syllables.. so I'm not sure what to do with that one. based on this it seems like the ghosts are pretty friendly, answered his questions and didn't want him to leave.

It's a radio. Your brain hears what you want it to hear. The two voices were not the same either. "Chimney" was a male while "Fell of the chimney" was clearly female. Your brain is persuaded to hear those two phrases by the subtitles they add, plus by Ryan verbally reinforcing that statement. If you listened to both of those clips without subtitles and without Ryans statement afterwards they would sound like gibberish nonsense. In the moment I agreed that they sound like "chimney" and "fell of the chimney", but then I went back and listened with my eyes closes and they really sound nothing like either of those phrases. Especially the "feel off the chimney", its like 5 stutters of audio nonsense.

I was thinking about that "fell off the chimney" part. It's widely assumed that the spirit realm has difficulty communicating with our realm which could potentially cause words to become muddled if we were theoretically able to communicate with a spirit. A chimney is a tall cylindrical feature. A lighthouse is a cylindrical building. The female voice sounded like it was just repeating what the male voice said as though to clarify the statement because the male voice wasn't able to convey what he intended accurately enough. So what if that was the husband who fell off of the lighthouse and the female voice was the wife helping Ryan to understand what her husband had said? Also think about the 'swap me' part which was said by the male voice. Maybe he meant to say that he was going to swap places with his wife. Then the female voice asks if Ryan hears her as though she's trying to test it out.

See, this is probably one of my favorite episodes. It's mainly because none of the ghosts here seem to have any kind of malicious intent, it's all very sad what happened to them, but the worst case scenario here is just a grumpy guy who'd rather you aren't there. But everyone there, in my mind seems fairly kind and welcoming. It's also one of the most active places, and to me, that shows that people don't need to be afraid of all ghosts.

Not going to lie, having been there several times in my life, it can be unnerving. Even during the day in the hottest parts of summer, you can sometimes find freezing cold patches as you're climbing up the tower. It has no air conditioning in the actual lighthouse itself. There have often been times you can feel dread or like someone is watching or touching you, even if you're climbing alone. There was one incident on a school trip of mine that our teacher got a bad feeling and told all of us who were in the group to move back. Seconds later? The railing around the lighthouse started wobbling violently as if it was about to tear off. There was no wind. I never booked it down stairs so fast.

This story is so sad and true . There is actual sightings during the day and night by actual visitors and workers . This is a beautiful lighthouse with so much history. St. Augustine is the best place to capture any ghosts and to go ghost hunting. They also give ghost tours . The whole town is haunted ! But St. Augustine is so BEAUTIFUL ❤

This is one of the more convincing episodes I think - the fact the “Eliza” was so clear and the repeating of “chimney” in “fell off a chimney” made it seem actually coherent. People theorize it's because Ryan is a believer and Shane is not. If you were a supposed ghost, why would you bother trying to talk to someone who is just going to mock you? Ryan actually takes the time to try to listen and speak with them. It makes sense to me.

i know this is kind of a meme, but really i think the spirits are afraid of shane. or they just plain don't like him. like imagine you were just vibing somewhere and some giant lanky man comes through the door being loud and pestering his friend/you. i wouldn't wanna talk to him either. most ghosts are totally harmless and even somewhat shy, so a person like ryan who is gentle for the most part and open to a two way conversation is more likely to draw out responses from them.

when eliza said "fell off a chimney" it sounded so much like someone calm & relaxed, (and i know that those talk boxes is supposed to play what it hears..) but it sounded like someone having a nice conversation and you can hear it in the tone. :)

ive been rewatching the series recently and wow, ryan's solo investigation has to be the best piece of evidence they have ever captured. whoever or whatever that was was having a genuine, intelligent conversation with him. gives me chills!
