Fraser, sometimes when I'm busy in my garden, I stop and think "huh, that's cool, I wouldn't know about that if not for Fraser (et al)" about some science that you have brought to my attention, filling me with wonder. I hope that when you're out there managing your woodland, that you stop and think "huh, people love what I do, maybe they're listening right now". Because we are, and I want to say thank you.

I personally really enjoyed having our resident exomoon specialist drop in for a minute! I love that guy and all his cool worlds! I think we should have people over more often! I vote in favor of including mini-interviews…🤚🏾 It can make for a nice quick “state of the field” moment.

Dr David Kipping is always welcome. In all seriousness if you can get folks to chime in like this, that'd be fantastic. More people we can get visibility to the science that is actually happening now the better. Keep up this fantastic work and let people meet the great scientists making these new discoveries. I like interviews that you do with different scientists but these short interviews are great especially when we hear the news about their proposals, accomplishments or whatever before hearing the interview so I appreciate them in spacebites, however, it would be nice if the length of spacebites remained relatively short. On the note of impact craters there are volcanic ejecta rocks the size of a small house in New Zealand that started cooling in space before landing in wellington. They left the atmosphere just above lake Taupo 350-400 k's away previously the biggest volcano in New Zealand. Now a 60 mile round lake. The local lore has it that he was the oldest of four brothers and his siblings annoyed him till he blew his top and left.

22:25 yes I do love these little interview sections, you of all people could REALLY take advantage of that kind of addition to your space bites (or even the question shows). As for the contents of the video, losing Chandra would be a complete travesty, the only solution is political pressure from space exploration and astronomy advocates. We have the IXPE telescope, run jointly with Italy I believe, and Europe has one as you mentioned, but IXPE is best used to ENHANCE Chandra data, because it gets polarization measurements that Chandra doesn't (it's a really recently launched X-ray telescope actually). Next, I LOVE the Moon plans coming together. This feels *real* to me, I believe we're going to go to the Moon...to STAY!!! Hella exciting. Love the idea of exploring extreme Martian environments with a new heli, and congratulations to Dr. Kipping and his students again. Thanks, F.C. !

Great show! Question: would a helicopter work on Venus? How about Titan? Pluto?
@MCsCreations
@MCsCreations Місяць тому
Venus yes, the issue is the high temperature. Titan yes as well and there's already a octacopter being made to fly there. Both Venus and Titan have thick atmospheres, so they can even be heavier and with less propellers. Pluto, on the other hand... It really doesn't look to have much atmosphere, so... I don't know, but probably not. 😕 Remember: propellers move the air to be able to generate lift. So... You need air.

Chandra has already lasted vastly beyond its intended lifespan and one of the consequences of cheap launches (falcon and starship) is that it's much easier to get funding to launch basic instruments which don't become "all eggs in one basket, everything but the kitchen sink" projects Expect to see a "Super-JWST" and "Super-Chandra" (if not a small fleet of them) launched within the next 20 years

Growing up in the 60s they were talking about settlements on the Moon before man had put a foot on the surface there. The advances made in that decade just seemed to stop in the 70s and the world settled back down to it's own boring things. Now it seems that there is more interest in space probably driven by technology. In the past our advances in technology seemed to be through war, but now it is as if it is through peace and our desire for knowledge and exploration.
