What I liked about the "cyclists video" is that they actually _were_ making a public safety video, just doing it in a humorous way. The whole show was raising awareness about the actual issues they were talking about, just in a humorous way so people wouldn't see it as another boring public safety video. They managed to cover the problem with cyclists ignoring laws, with people cutting cyclists off and not paying attention to them, the need for courtesy on the road, everything that was in their brief, all while making a funny video about making a funny video. I have noticed this in several of their "making a public safety video" films, I think they were actually working with the BBC to raise public awareness in a creative and humorous way.

The number one reason to not cycle or drive a motorcycle: you can personally follow all the rules of the road but some idiot can run into you with their car or truck and the person that gets hurt is the one who was following the rules.

Laws I would put in place: 1. If there is a cycle lane present (either marked on the road or built into the pavement), a cyclist MUST use it. 2. Single file only. 3. No large boxes at traffic lights, only continue the cycle lane to the lights, with a small cross section for those wanting to turn right.

This is all great sport. I love automobiles, I have been repairing them for almost 40 years. Exotic machines, and the common. I have worked on, and driven, some extremely rare ones. Some absurdly expensive. In the millions, actually. But, we all have our passions. For years, I rode a bicycle 22,000 km per year, in all weather conditions, for sport and to get to work, yes, repairing cars. I have several hundred thousand miles on motorcycles. It's very different, riding is a completely different world from taking out the car. I have ridden a motorcycle through thunderstorms, even when the cars had given up and pulled over. I must qualify this, cycling was critical in the years I was a firefighter. I needed to keep at the top of my game, as it was not just my own life that depended upon it. Truth, this humor is brilliant. But rubber pants? No, man, leather.

I see I and Jeremy share the view on motorcycles. There is nothing else in the world that can get me so furious as when my child finally fells asleep in a buggy on a long walk, first time in three weeks, and there is some moron on a motorcycle that can barely move but makes so much noise you can hear that shitty piece of metal 2 kilometers away, as he is approaching exactly the street where we are sitting in our cafeteria on the sidewalk, where he will park 5 meters from us and let his bike run for 5 more minutes as he is yelling at another biker standing next to him because he can't turn that bloody motorcycle off.

9:12 Gotta agree with Clarkson here, I live in a rural area and there are few things worse to hear than the screeching of a motorbike. Absolutely ruins the tranquility.

im a biker i loved this i do own a car too when its pissing of rain i will use the car when its a nice sunny day i will ride my motorbike. only other bikers will know what im talking about but you feel more free with a bike you become the bike the slightest movement just turns the bike the gear change you just feel the bike it almost feeling like your flying your aware of every single moment of your surroundings become enhanced you feel alive. in a car i can literally drive 50 miles and not remember a thing about that drive and only become aware when im on a round about on at a junction its a hole different experience you just feel more in control on a motorbike they more dangerous as richard hammond himself said but thats down to user error not the bike i grew up with bikers my dad was a biker i knew how to strip and ride a bike before i was the age of 14. my parents owned private land i knew how to drive a car by the time i was 15 its impossible for me to even stall a car and a bike when i was teaching my nephew i tried to stall it to prove a point but my body automatically kept correcting it without even thinking about it. cyclist on the other hand i despise them ive had my wing mirrors smashed up it was not a damn thing i could do about it they have no insurance pay no road tax and legally you cant detain them.

The ads were pretty effective to be honest, and very clever.

Its not about lap times.. bikes will always be behind race cars... its about the feeling one gets while strapped to said machine. You do not get into a motorbike.... you strap it on and become one with it.
