It's crazy that after a century trench warfare would return and somehow become scarier than WWI

Well it's a whole new, or back to an old, world out there. I mean my grandpa probably fought there during the beginning of the Polish Soviet War in 1919. People never learn.

I went from watching, "Plok boss theme", to, "how to bandage hemorrhaging wounds", in less than 5 years.

@@c.jthompson4611 Stage 3 trenches on SPTA, basically 10cm of soil then you are chipping away at solid chalk, head to toe in white dust and looking like a ghost / clumsy baker. However, it is definitely good practice to learn the skills and drills.

I'm not sure how often sniper teams get called up for trench assaults, but I thought it was pretty obvious GT and crew had them talking abut trench assaults and showing off an assault pack to maintain OPSEC and not actually give away any valuable information on what they were actually doing there.

They aren’t teaching you how to fight Russians. They are teaching you how to fight governments. Take it and learn from it.

Mercenaries have the luxury of not having to blindly follow a superiors orders and march into hell. They can literally pick their battles. After all they are doing it for money and there's no use in money if you're dead. Russian tanks have automatic laser detection systems and Russia also has lots of camera systems that detect that sort of thing or glass reflections from miles away and auto target you.

Not many tanks are actually equipped with Shtora and theyre ment to jam lasers from atgms aimed diectly at it. The auto lay system is only on newer T series also​@@disposabull

The only reason we've gone back to trench warfare is because it's well-armed white guys versus well-armed white guys again for the first time in 70 years, except this time it's in open fields unlike the majority of WW2, where trenches were pointless by virtue of the Axis forces having equal (and sometimes superior) air power... Following WW2, we fought nothing but poorly trained (in comparison) men weilding poorly maintained Russian-made rifles in the tropical forrests of Asia where trenches were pointless for a completely different reason to WW2. Trenches exist when both sides have respectable weapon systems, but almost no air support, and it's not simply an asymmetrical Turkey shoot against compariatively untrained, illiterate religious zealouts who have been promised 72 virgins in the afterlife.

GT hasn’t.

Most GWOT vets myself included, had to worry mostly about machine guns, rockets, mortars, and IED’s (occasionally vbied). We never had to go against tank columns, attack helicopters, fighter bombers, cruise missiles, batteries of artillery, and of course, 10,000 drones per month. Which is why the US is paying close attention to this invasion because the next war will be so much bloodier than the whole of GWOT.

@@zeroxception It does, a truck pulls up with loaded crates, the rocket itself weighs 66.6 kgs, with the crate it's 100kgs. The barrels have to be angled, one of the guys climbs behind them, he is guiding the rocket into the barrel, the other two, usually bigger guys, carry the rocket and push it in, then the guide holds it at the end for the final push where in most cases other two guys are pushing his elbow because he can't (in most cases) push it in himself in order for rocket to click into the place. The final live fire when I was in training took in February 2012, it was -20 celsius, we stood there for hours before they finally fired the damn thing. The other problem was that with that temperature, you still had to open the soviet metal boxes that had metal discs that go on top of the warhead, and since they've been made at least 50 years ago, they've been sitting wrapped in a greasy paper, waxed, all that time. Naturally we had to scrape off the wax which at that point was like hardened plastic. Taking off the gloves got my hands stiff pretty soon and it was hell to get that shit off the discs...

Americans have volunteered to fight in other countries. One has only to look at the Lafayette Escadrille, the Flying Tigers, and the Eagle Squadron as examples. Some signed up with the Canadian and British Armies during the World Wars.

Unconventional warfare is basics, thus never goes away. Most of what is happening in Ukraine the US military anticipated or was already doing decades agao. Just not on this scale since the US has the best airpower in the world, bar none.

If you go in the russian version of youtube, there is a news channel called Zvezda. They have a video talking about the FPV drones. Of course it's in russian, but you can still see what they were talking about. FPV drones being really fast and a great threat.

@@PrograError He's talking about what caliber and at what distance and how far the round is hitting the ground from you, not the enemy or friendly. A missfire from behind your own line is probably very noticable and the same principles count.
