TP was one of those quiet professionals who crushed everything in rasp. We did a joint readiness exercise with the ninjas and this is when he was marked out as a performer who got tasks done, made the effort to keep his young rangers tight and squared away with his leadership and mentoring and made sure any success or rewards was put down to Thom AND his men. Then he went down to north Carolina, crushed selection and made it. Next time I see him he's on NBC and I'm on a bar stool. And love and respect to Joshua wheeler RIP. I thank God that this great country still produces men that will risk their lives for others, and that they will become part of an elite unit for which they will generally never received fanfare or a parade. As COL Chargin' Charlie Beckwith (founder of Delta) famously stated when he created SFOD in Vietnam, will guarantee you a medal, a body bag, or both. We can sleep knowing these men are there. My respect and admiration, Sgt Maj Payne.

Specifics of that mission and his actions that day are probably highly classified. The fact that his name is also out in the public now means he’s probably no longer apart of that unit as well.
