This is actually really smart how it works. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the screen turns on its opening the filters that would normally allow the backlight to come through which would be coloured from the reflectors, but since there is no backlight panel, or reflector on the screen it just turns transparent.
@Ananords

@Ananords

Take a continuity test between one of the mounting holes (often grounded) and the pins to find GND. Then, measure voltage between that pin and the rest. You can also try googling the serial number of the power supply and driver board.

I was wondering if this was still being talked about, and done by case modders. I did my own snowblind mod, but my variation uses all plug and play componants that are powered off of the USB of the motherboard, including the display, granted it is more expensive than the tearing down an old scrap monitor like most people do method but, it is still cheaper than buying the case from ibuypower, and it can be done to virtually any case, and swapped between cases pretty easily. I bet even a small form factor pc could be done. Good work. I may post a video of my version so that people who want a version that doesn't require soldering can try my version.

You know I'm curious why someone would give this a thumbs down. To me it's clearly a very clever build that was recorded and edited very well. A lot of hard work went into the build and the video production. One thing I'd like to add is that this looks like a great opportunity to use a raspberry pi zero to drive the display without using the PC's GPU. The Pi zero can easily do 1080P video with VNC access.

I did this to my Minivan Windows. But due to the TINT of the glass, it was hard getting a good image out unless it was Pitch dark around the car with the upgraded LED Dome lights. I had to add extra lights to the windows, and they worked out ok. The next big step is semi Flexible transparent OLED displays like LG showed off on Linus Tech TIps. I've seen the small ones, and they are cool. But I'm going to need more like a 10 inch screen or larger to make it worthwhile. I tried using Micro projectors, and they worked out pretty well that way. I used a Asus Chrombook with the HDMI out, and it worked a treat. Same with some Samsung Tab Pro320 tablets with the Samsung MHL adapter. Today? I think' I'll just use a some Amazon FIre sticks.

@BoomBrush

Why did you remove the "top layer" as that looks to me like you just removed the polarization filter and is required for an LCD to work. Or was that a different layer of film/plastic? Because when you remove the polarization filter all you see is straight through (with a backlight, white) so I'm not quite sure what is going on lol.
