I'm a fanboy and Tommy is 100% correct that the MIC top is Ford's fault. Blaming the supplier is idiotic. It's the Ford Bronco, they're responsible for every component, period.
@khakiswag
@khakiswag 2 роки тому
I agree in part. But that top is one of the reasons why the Bronco has been delayed so long. Ford isn’t pleased with the quality either but so many people had put down money and waited so long they had to deliver. Hopefully Ford does the right thing by owners by replacing the bad ones with the revised better quality replacements.
@2011blueman
@2011blueman 2 роки тому
@@khakiswag That's on Ford, they chose the supplier and set the time tables. When launching a new vehicle you need to have your suppliers running at full speed months before the beginning of building in order to troubleshoot. That's especially true for the Bronco where over over two thirds of orders are with hardtops. They've known roughly how many hardtops and other components they'd need since the build&price tool came out and they could see what most people were building. I have a build date supposedly in a couple weeks (it's already been moved before), and I'll be livid if the hard top is as bad as some I've seen on the forums when we've waited this long. I won't be blaming their supplier, I'll be blaming Ford.

The lack of lockers on this Jeep really knocks it down into a lower capability tier vs the bronco. Add in the lockers and all the options that come with the Rubicon package and there's going to be far less of a price disparity, while capability will be much closer (though arguably tilted in Jeeps favor) I'm not a Jeep fan, but I would expect a Rubicon to be somewhat more capable due to the live front axle.

I would like the Bronco equivalent to Tommy’s Willys Sport Jeep. So pretty much a base model Bronco. I’m not into rock crawling or anything like that, so a standard Bronco with locking diffs fitted would do everything I want and more.

Good job Tommy. Thought you did a really good job of managing the “i bought this so I must talk it up” bias most people fall victim to. Agree with the points you made. As you admitted, some are specific to your current lifestyle. For example, even though not best for tight trails, bet that many families with children will like the larger interior of the Bronco. Good point on the simplicity and dependability of naturally aspirated engines. The 3.6, especially with the 8 speed auto, is not exciting but it is long-term proven, quite capable and very reliable. May be the 2.7 is super reliable too, I don’t know it as well. I would bet on a naturally aspirated making it to high miles more often. Actually really like the Bronco. Great looking, real capability off road and but I’ll wait for Ford to benefit from real life testing by the public with time to get the issues sorted and redesigns implemented (surely they can easily add rear ac vents?) . Maybe add one to the fleet in 2023. Probably have both a Bronco while keeping the Jeep. Options are good.

The front suspension is something I am now more interested in researching after watching this video. I have been researching the sway bar disconnect on the new Badlands Bronco and was wondering if the Jeep had that option, but appears to have a whole different set up that may be superior in off road situations. Sounds like the Jeep could have better crawling capabilities, but is not as good for bombing desert trails. having ridden in alot of XJ's over the years I can see your jeep has that simple, solid, and quality vibe I know so well.

Loved this comparison. I shopped around for two months, trying to get my hands on a Bronco from any dealer that would be willing to sell me one. Their prices were outrageous, and quite frankly, I just thought the Wrangler looked cooler with its consistent classic design. So, I’m now a proud owner of a Rubicon Unlimited. I went with the 4 cylinder because I won’t be doing as much off reading as others, and while I like the mpg’s and it’s pep, I agree that it sounds horrible. But that’s my only negative critique. Happy to be part of the Wrangler family (we wave as we drive past each other! I had no idea.) -Wisconsin Wrangler Owner 😀🤓

And if your looking for a new vehicle and need it sooner than later I don't know a lot of people willing to wait for a first year release of a new product for more than a year. I generally wait a year before buying a new version. And it's very clear that Ford has a lot of work fixing the problems of the Top. Who knows maybe they will give the 2 door a soft top!

Same. As a JTR owner I’m not at all regretting it vs a Ranger. But I like the Bronco less and less. My wife has a cx5 with great steering and people make the Bronco sound better than it. I’ve done so many road trips in my JTR, more miles than actual commuting to my job, and I don’t find the comfortability in the steering or seats problematic at all. Neither does my wife. Just spend all day in the car Sunday and Monday driving to San Diego, around, and back without any issue. Going to the drive in tonight with it. Could the steering be tighter? Sure, but it drives straight and requires minimal correction. I’d rather have it than an IFS setup that’s far more prone to bad alignment from off roading like my Tacoma had. It drove far worse often enough because of bad alignment.

Every time I see your Jeep, it makes me happy. I really want a new Bronco because I had a 72 not that long ago. I also had a Jeep CJ in red. Ultimately, your Jeep is the right amount of simplicity without being ridiculous on a new vehicle. I imagine a low spec manual Bronco could get close. But after seeing what your Jeep did in the Defender recovery video, I don't know. I miss my three on the tree.
