I can tell you what it means! In Greek mythology there was a man who's wife got trapped in the underworld. So he made a deal to get down there but was told once he got his wife only to look forward and ignore all the trickery behind him because if he didn't he would walk onto the earth without his wife and lose her forever. So essentially what she is saying is I would look back to check you out even though I'd lose everything!
