Note: 1: The RPCS3 Emulator updates on March 27th somehow broke the steam deck controller in gaming mode. Here is the Fix: Go to Steam Deck Desktop mode - open standalone RPCS3 Appimage - configuration - Pads - Under Play1 - change Handlers to Evdev then under devices it should show Microsoft -Xbox 360 Pad 0 - click save. that's all Now, the controller will work in both desktop mode & gaming mode. Also, make sure controller template layout is using Gampad with joystick trackpad in gaming mode. 2:if the HDD0 folder is missing. you can manually create hdd0 folder. go to rpcs3 emulator manage virtual files system - select dev_hdd0 tab then click + icon navigate to your PS3 Emulation folder - click choose. the hdd0 folder will be created for you.

Don't get me wrong, having standalone emulators is nice but.. Emudeck was precisely the reason why it exist that you don't have to deal to manually install and configure each emulator... Just click and go

For me, the best setup currently is ES-DE + standalone emulators. I've made some box covers for games by myself, and everything looks and feels great. I'm using it on my PC, but Linux (SteamOS) should also work.

You can build all precompiled shaders (3rd option) 6:45 when you add a game or multiple, it will save you from having to do this when you launch a game 9:10 and 12:38

Lutris is by far the easiest way to add emulator games to your steam library but for some reason the ones that play through retroarch don't recognize controls in gamepad mode only in mouse and keyboard mode.

Great step by step tutorial. Love your videos. I’m having some issues with getting my controller to work properly, if I select Steam Virtual Gamepad 1 under SDL, the Steam deck controller does not work in game. I have another selection under SDL named Steam Deck 1. If I select it, it works in game but then I get random on screen keyboard openings. I’m not sure what is going on. Any ideas?

I haven't used emudeck since i put windows on my steam deck. Now i have the tech toy tinkerers emulation station setup and it works great.

Hey man, I’ve been following your videos to try and get skate 3 working on my steam deck using the ps3 emulator. I followed your instructions on how to patch my iso file and download it on to my steam deck. I also put it on rpcs3 exactly the way you did. Everything seems right, but when I run the game, it loads for a second then eventually says “The ps3 emulator has likely crashed, you can close it”. Any ideas on how to fix this. Thanks!

when my steam deck arrive i want to play Splatterhouse & Rambo The Video game on Steam Deck..but performance was so bad on Emudeck before this..i give up..i don't know if this standalone PS3 apps can perform that 2 game at least 30fps 😢

agree on the new emudeck updates , total garbage now, spent hours fixing steam rom manager , imagine making a tool to ease up emulators install only for it to become so trash that it's easier to setup all manually, sheesh.

I was extremely frustrated after the last major emudeck update however .. What it did do was force me to manually go and sort out yuzu so now i know i will always have yuzu available to me But to give credit to the emudeck team,the last update has fixed quite a few things within emulator updates and controller setups as well as add more emulators like model 2 and 3 Yes,agreed that when the update came out neither model 2 or 3 even worked and steam rom manager was broken but its all fixed now and actually yuzu is re enabled but you still need to supply the yuzu appimage which isnt too difficult to find Now on topic of standalone emulators ... You do realise that emudeck DOES install all of these emulators as a stand alone application And within steam rom manager,you can scrape them as an entire folder onto your steam deck library and then run the emulators directly,and at least most if not all legwork is done for you,you dont actually need to run emulation station unless you want to And as far is losing these emulators go,well just go into the installed directory for emudeck and copy them all to your sd card I simply wish there was a more safe and secure way of actually updating emudeck,currently it seems far too easy to just click or touch the screen when running the app in decktop mode and accidentally updating,you get very little warning,the english prompts and instructions often dont make much sense either For instance,i knew a major update came out,i ran emudeck because i wanted to add games and use steam rom manager,by the time i launched emudeck,i hit the update button that appeared by mistake They need to add an option to turn off updates entirely so you can wait for issues to be ironed out,you simply dont get much of a warning,i also think the last big update felt like a temptation for many with the lure of new emulators not realising yuzu would be disabled For me,it updated and broke soo many things that i was forced to reinstall everything and that is where i lost yuzu so its no wonder than some of us are a bit pissed off,emudeck may make things easier for us but alot of hard work still goes into setting up games and artwork,controller set ups and game saves only to lose it all with an update This is not to say that i dont appreciate emudeck,i value it highly and i think the folks behind it are brillian

We also need a native way to install 3 more emulators starting with NW, NS, N3 "ahem ahem". I know its very risky but is there any guide I can follow? Looking forward to remove EmuDeck from my system. I still have my old Y installed. Have not updated the EmuDeck after the incidence.

Before I would just launch a gamecube game in gaming mode and it would launch, but NOW when I launch a gamecube game it goes to the dolphin menu and I have to select the game though the dolphin menu. It never did that until now.... Any tips?

I'm having issue with the controls. My rpcs3 shows 2 devices when i select SDL on pads menu, steam deck 1 and steam virtual gamepad 1. On desktop mode it can only work with steam deck 1 device, not the virtual controller one. But on game mode, neither of those work. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

When I load the game from steam OS, the controls won’t work, but when I play in desktop mode the controls work, but when I press “B” it interacts as if I’m minimizing the game.

I can’t understand the hate of emudeck. In my opinion recent systems are bad emulated on all emulators, just a small percentage of games works properly. Even this one, has NO performance improvements respect to emudeck settings, just more stability, as the video author said in a comment. So I don’t waste my time emulating PS3 just to run 10 games. Emudeck make me play without any issue all systems I want to emulate with 30 minutes of setup. I don’t update because I don’t need it, so for me it’s awesome, I can’t spend hours of my day to configure manually all emulators. So while many here call “fanboy” who defend emudeck, I’d say instead there are many “haters”. It’s just in some cases it’s better a stand alone emulator. That’s it.

I have everything installed all my files and firmware are correctly installed as well but when I put the roms in the roms folder i open the emulator up and nothing shows on my deck. The emulator starts up fine.

Actually, when i'm using emudeck, i'm not using only for PS3 but also other emulators. going standalone for a lot of emulators is so much work to do. But if you just need 1 emulator then yeah, emudeck is too much.
