πŸ“œ History of Policing London: The Fall of Jonathan Wild - Jonathan Wild had the whole crime system figured out. A man of justice by day, and leader of a criminal empire by night. But that is when Jack Sheppard came into his life. Jack Sheppard was a talented thief but an even more talented escape artist. And one of the last criminals in London who refused to bend the knee to Jonathan Wild. This was unacceptable. Jonathan Wild became obsessed. But obsessions can be dangerous. Every prison escape causes Sheppard's popularity amongst the people, sick and tired of corruption, to grow. And the consequences may be deadly.

There are actually several stories (including a stage play that once had the great Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwick combo) that play with that idea, arguing that they are in fact, the same person. They do this by pointing out that in Holmes canon, Watson never once met Moriarty and just has to take Holmes' word for it.

The beggars guild keeps the orphans away from the streets and gives them a proper education. Why aren't there movies about Jack Sheppard? I mean, his entire story plays like that of an archetypical action hero- the script writers don't even have to exaggerate! Dude had a badass name (think of how many protagonists are out there with either "Jack" or "Sheppard" on their names), a humble origin, a clever girlfriend, a big mouth (another trait of a good protagonist), and undeniable charm, an evil nemesis, some Deus Ex Machina+1 skills and a Level 99 Plot Armor!
