The Favero Assioma PRO MX is an all-new design power meter pedal that follows in the footsteps of the very popular Assioma DUO/UNO series. With no compromise in pedal stack height or q-factor, the testing I've done with these over the last 12 months indicates these are without question the BEST SPD power meter pedals on the market today.

12:24 - That's the Gravel Fondo event in Lorne (VIC) on 9 September 2023! I was there and saw you but didn't want to bother you. Pretty cool to know that you were actually testing these pedals at the time! That gravel event was insane and I pretty much walked up the whole way on that section of 20% in muddy conditions. I think I just made the cut by about 10 minutes as no one else arrived at the rest station (after I'd rested for ~10mins). I even did the Medio Fondo (60km on the Great Ocean Road) the next day and managed to finish 19th! I was pretty happy with that! 😁

My second pair of faveros just got an expedo upgrade. I went with CXR’s this time which are almost as wide as shimano pedals but not these! These look as stable as xtr feels . The expedo titanium body’s where so slim they barley gave anything to stand on and did not last long. Its very cool favero thought of that and provide affordable replacement’s. About a year ago expedo was sold out of all pedals that could be used for faveros and I ended up wearing road shoes all summer. I was clip clopping in and out of offices and always got looks. Everyone assumed I was someone wearing heels and not a delivery driver dropping off packages. 😅

I've had two whole replacements from Garmin, they still squeak enough to actually ruin solo rides because it drives me insane. I have to completely cover them in white lithium grease to stop it. It makes them so dirty, so annoying. The Garmins are also loose. I'll definitely get these when they are in stock. Garmin makes a good power meter, but a terrible terrible terrible spd pedal. Other than left /right balance info, there does not seem much to gain in going for duos. Everything is within a few watts and repeatable with the single sided systems or unos etc. Am I missing something. Most of the time I am looking at training repeatability, the numbers could be anything as long as repeatable. OK sure it is nice to know how you stack up against others I guess, but even the one sided solution is offering fantastic accuracy beyond drive chain loss.

Assioma app, Apple update or specific to the pedal type? That data would be good to see for us with knee issues and trying to develop better pedalling mechanics.

To see those new metrics in real-time you'll need the PRO MX and the Assioma app or a Garmin Edge that supports ANT+ Cycling Dynamics.

Something was up with auto-pause on the 840. It lost 10 minutes of time but still recorded all the data/distance. Another reason some overall averages are a poor indication of performance (and why I’ll always drill into sections).

Favero are claiming stack height is 11.2 mm yet Shimano states their XTR is 15.1 mm. Does that seem correct to you? Also how did you find the stability of the pedals? (mtb shoes use the tread to engage with the pedal body and provide lateral stability, my Sworks shoes were rubbish with Shimano spd pedals as the tread blocks were too short to engage with the pedal and I had to swap to eggbeaters where I can adjust them with the pedal contact sleeves).
@gplama
@gplama 2 місяці тому
Stack height for SPD pedals is a weird one. I think some companies include the cleat and measure from the centre of the spindle to the top of the cleat (where the shoe starts).
@Hexsense
@Hexsense 2 місяці тому
Shimano XTR is 8.4mm without cleats, the same way that Favero measure. 15.1mm might be number include cleats.
@alexanderhardy971
@alexanderhardy971 2 місяці тому
So that would make Faveros true stack height as 17.9 mm. That's quite a tall pedal when reviewers complain about Time mtb pedals having a high stack height. Thanks both for clearing that up.

Literally no reasons to get garmin pedals now, assioma duos are known to be very accurate and very long lasting. The only thing might be the battery life vs cr2032s but for most people charging once every couple weeks isn't too much of a bother.

I can see how the peak power phase data could be useful as an analysis tool, particularly if you were trying to locate an 'optimal' cadence. However, pretty much every study that has tried to modify pedal stroke or cadence has ended up with no significant benefits at best. That said, wait until the triathletes get their hands on this tech, the next big marginal gain is here........

the Quarq and its MagicZero can produce such an anomalies... (this is why i dont like them, the latest v10 fw is not perfect) as i checked, You had a shorter stop, maybe the unit got sunlight and got warmer , started, there was a long coasting at 2:29, it adjusted the the MZ the wrong offset (maybe) due to the wrong temp measurement (by the previous stop's effect), and it remained on it till the next autozero or manual zero. The Quarq is using much older (and dumber) strain gauges then the Assiomas or the Power2Max NG series, this is why these are always pinpoint (if the static/slope accuracy is perfect), and this is why the Quarqs not (even the AXS neither)...
