For the Summer of 2019, Fjallraven has released the Keb Backpack which features a new version of the G-1000 Material which they are calling Bergshell!
This is the first look at the Fjallraven Keb 52L backpack with Wooden Stays!

Price : $275
Weight : Almost 5lbs (4lb 15.7oz)
Colors : Men, Blue and black
Women : Black, red navy blue
Versions : 52L (3173cu in) and a 72L
Sexes : The Keb is available in men and womens makes.
Sizes : One fits all
New for 2019 Fjallraven has released the Keb 52 backpack and what makes it very interesting is for me at least, the wood frame which I have only seen on one other of their pacts, the Kaija!
Designed to be a year round backpack, it can be easily adjusted for most users.
The pack features a narrow profile
Made from new Bergshell fabric and well-proven G -1000 HeavyDuty Eco S - it offers outstanding performance in challenging terrain.
trekking backpack with ski touring functionality.
Made from G-1000® HeavyDuty Eco S with base and side sections in Bergshell, a waterproof 400D ripstop fabric made from 31% recycled nylon.
Wooden frame made from FSC-certified birch.
Narrow profile gives freedom of movement on technical treks/ski trips.
Ergonomic carrying system with snow-repellent stretch fabric.
Carrying system can easily be adapted to fit a wide range of back lengths.
Supportive hip belt and shaped shoulder straps.
All features designed for easy handling with winter gloves on.
Large main compartment with snowlock closure.
Top lid with two zippered pockets.
The hip belt has two pockets plus loops for pulling a toboggan.
Side compression straps.
Hydration system compatible.
Rain cover included.
Bergshell, Fjällräven’s very own waterproof and sustainable fabric, is made from 100% recycled nylon. It is developed specifically for backpacks and has a very high tear and tensile strength. But what makes it unique is a new flat ripstop construction combining airtextured yarn with filament yarn in a balanced weave that gives exceptional abrasion-resistance while also increasing tear strength.
This means that the lifespan of the backpack is considerably increased.

I'm sure it is a nice pack.. But I like my Osprey 70 l Aether Ag after using it. I like the way it carrie well is very comfortable. It can be synched down and up. If people don't load a pack right. It won't be right. I seen you do the Osprey Atmos, but not the Aether or the Deauter you had once.

Hi Luke, nice review Here in Indonesia Keb 52 cost me $393 from authorized retailer, that shocked me when you say you pay only $275. I use it about 2 time for trekking and really impresed with how stable it is, I mean the narrower design work perfect. Also the bergshell is superb.

The only experience I have with Fjallraven so far are their pants, and of course as everyone knows they are amazing. Best hiking/outdoor pants I've owned. Paul Hurtado well, I truly believe there is a new sherif in town, when it comes to trousers. I have tons (almost) of Fjallraven gear, and I love it, thiught I would never ever change for another brand - well I did. Same quality, if not better, way better design and fit, and aprox half price of Fjallraven, the name is Revolution Race. Check ot out, and I am not connected to this company in any way, but me and most of my friende has changed to that brand, top notchnquality

You're right, their American website is useless. I do prefer their gear to American made products. European companies really put more thought into the functionality & durability & I feel a lot of that has to do with the Freedom to Roam Act. Europeans have so nany more opportunities to respectfully explore their countries than Americans do & their gear reflects that & you're the only review channel we trust for honesty.

I dont get the constant hate on hip belt pockets. I had an ospery aether.... they were fine. I have an osprey xenith and a sierra designs flex capacitor (my current go to) and the hit belt pockets on both are absolutely fine. They hold more than enough stuff that you would want to have on your hips and I have no issues working the zippers on either with one hand. What the heck are people expecting or trying to do? are you not getting the right size hip belt so you have to crank down the belt and bend the pockets too much? I just dont understand.
@TheOutdoorGearReview
@TheOutdoorGearReview 4 роки тому
It has been common for backpacking companies to incorporate small waist belt pockets with their backpacks; so common in fact that there are numerous companies which have capitalized on this fact by releasing larger pockets which will fit over those (smart idea). That is why I meant it as anyone who has been around the backpacking scene long enough knows what I'm talking about. Hope that helps you understand why I point this out. - Luke
@hawkeytown

@@TheOutdoorGearReview Thanks for the reply Luke. I totally understand what your saying and why you commented on it in your vid, and I know all about the small pockets. My thought was just that any more on any decent sized pack all the pockets are just fine, I think the trend has gotten away from the small pockets, yet I still see people complain about it and even some of the ones I listed as having "small" pockets. I was simply saying, it seems like some people want to pack half their crap in the hip belt pockets for some reason. Keep up the awesome reviews and adventures =D

1:37 "laptop"? Hey, when you're out and about do you really need even more 'entertainment'? Besides: a laptop -- even a tablet -- is relatively heavy, so when stuck into that front pocket it might just pull a person backwards, the back pocket being so distatnt from the walker's spine (i.e. his/her area of gravity). If I were to use this front pocket I'd fill it with clothes (scarf, gloves, poncho; leav the pack's rain cover at home).

Well... Let's put it this way. There are plenty of packs out there that hit that 2 lb sweet spot. So why carry the extra 2-1/2 to 3 lbs?? At that weight I'd rather go old school and hike with the Kelty external frame. Weight is a big factor. There's alot of competition from lightweight and ultralight packs. If you're only car-camping, or doing moderate hikes of limited distances/durations, then this might work. You're going to have to order it, too, to test it out. Doesn't sound like it's available in stores.

It weighs three ounces. It took eight THOUSAND hours to construct. The wood...I don't give a shit. It's fucking ripstop fabric and WOOD. The joke writes itself. You can have this garbage. I'll stick to the shit that's hundreds less, lasts forever, ISN'T pretentious and overpriced and that's actually tough. You and others like you can walk around verbally masturbating in defense of this dead tech post modern BULLshit. For...fuck's...sake.
