@@chrisk6474 I've asked the same question to Luke in an email. He likes and uses trekking poles. But when recording his video's and using a camera on a tripod when hiking, he has to set it up, record a bit, go back to get the cam, set it up again etc. With trekking poles it just becomes more complicated taking your pack off and on and repeat.

Really enjoy your vid's, but cringe when seeing you have to endure that awful instant coffee, when you could just as easily have proper good ground coffee, pack freshly ground coffee in a ziplock bag, to make cowboy coffee, put water in pot then coffee grounds, bring to the boil, let simmer for approx 1 minute, take off the heat and pour a little cold water into pot to settle the grounds to the bottom, then pour into cups, enjoy, life is too short to put up with imitation coffee.

Hi Luke, I'm 71 and a longtime camping lover. I don't hike for camping anymore. I use my car... but always in what we call rustic camping sites, just one notch below wild camping. Minimum equipment with comfort, otherwise my sweetie won't follow me. I always bring my 12 ft canoe and sometime have to do short portages. It's a must to camp by a water body. After all those years of experience, here's my equipment: pop-up tent (4 persons) and a tarp for protection against the sun and the rain, even heavy rain. Happy camping.

I was canoeing with my son at Clinton Lake, KS. We canoed in the summer instead of hiking to avoid ticks and chiggers. We approached Woodridge Wilderness Park and saw several boys and a woman playing in the brush near the lake. I asked them how they avoided getting eaten up by the ticks and chiggers. The woman, who was the boys' aunt, told me they put flowers of sulfur in a sock and dusted their socks, shoes, and pant legs with the flowers of sulfur and the ticks and chiggers would leave them alone. I tried it later and it seemed to work, but afterwards, no amount of washing seemed to be able to get rid of the sulfur smell. So I kept those pants, socks, and shoes in the garage and put them on when I went hiking.

They are likely disgruntled, vengeful youtubers who lost sales because they were selling the trash products that Luke & Susie were honest enough to let us know; that the products were terrible. Lol ... love it. The Odd Couple tells the truth also, and they get lots of haters as well, because they help us. Luke, Suzie & The Odd Couple are my favorite youtubers. :)

Best part is all that fresh water above coming down as rain to fill an expandable jug for washing, cooling off and drinking and cooking. And then I heard how you can position logs (if any) to guide down poaring rain away from your sheter and form a drainage canal with a trowel to guide water away from your shelter to prevent the ground from becoming drenched with flood waters?

My most memorable camping experience was on Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. I was co-director of a group of young teenagers canoe camping. We’d hiked to either Cat Mountain or Sliding Rock in the morning and then lunched with some Boy Scouts across from Janacks Landing. While at their site we could see the anvil heads start to form in the distance. We continued to watch them through the afternoon when we returned to our site. They just seemed to roll up onto each other into the evening. We built a fire and sat on the sliver of beach watching as night fell. Overhead was crystal clear with the Milky Way clearly visible. Far to the northeast was our light show. No thunder, just hours of colorful lightning in those clouds. Best damn night in nature of my life.

Talking about being struck by lightning! I was IN MY HOUSE during a large thunderstorm this spring. A lightning bolt struck a tree in the back yard. I was sitting in the front office about 20 meters from the strike. I felt the electricity pass through me! I was immobilized temporarily, I could see my hand glow with static and all my hair stand up. The ground dispersal of the charge hit my neighbor's house and fried his security system. I lost a TV that was plugged into a wall outlet without a surge protector and a GFI outlet on the outside of the house got fried. I have a lot of respect for lightning now!

Re: Bigfoot and sharing food. Back in the '60s, my Dad and I were hunting on the Southern flank of Mt. St. Helens (yeah, THAT one) in the vicinity of an area known as "Ape Canyon"(!). We were walking along and old logging road, and I noticed a footprint (about 18" long) on my side of the road, headed across the road. I pointed it out to Dad, and he took a look, the checked his side. There was a matching, but opposite foot print on his side, but about 8' from the one I saw first. SOMETHING had a LOOONG stride! Sharing food with significant others and/or offspring is something as old as humanity. Get a grip, naysayers!

Lightening will strike the fastest route to the ground via electical charge, not just anywhere. Imagine a string rising up out of the top of your head at all times, its length dictated by the charge you give off. A lot of “camping” in South Korea is at parks with multiple campsites. Each campsite has a large deck for tenting. That could explain the design of some of their outdoor products.

I am also a 2 time snake bitter. Also in previous videos u mention about being a lone wolf GG. Well guess I fall into that situation. I hint and camp alone. I go when I want to and leave when I'm ready. No wines it's cold etc. Also I camped many hunting trips using a Kelti tent. Loved it. The only draw back it smells like it's on fire when it got warm. Love watching your videos. A great job and interesting. At 70 I still do it all except I use a enclosed trailer.Take care be safe.

"I want to see solid proof." If there was solid proof, no one would question if bigfoot exists. lol.

Not really true, lots of people have the bad habit of ignoring evidence entirely, no matter how much there is, just look at the flat earth people and their rejection of most of what we know of the universe. Arrogant ignorance is sadly not an uncommon trait in people, and along with personal biases it can lead people to have a firm belief in complete fiction.

I’ve run into ponies like that before. Our guide referred to them as “Karenmares”. They usually run in pairs, behave erratically, and are easily triggered for a little or no apparent reason. Glad you guys got out without a scratch.

It looked like the pony that ran up to the lone little one , was coming to herd her/him away from the “dangerous people”. Horses are totally herd animals. When there are only 2, they don’t let each other get out of sight.

When you talk about Bigfoot, just keep in mind that THOUSANDS of people have been traumatized by seeing one. Hunters have given up their passion, hikers have given up their passion. Please don't make fun of these folks. They're out there and a close encounter is devastating!

Critters in the camp site is always interesting. One night a small critter came in and took one of my low gaiters and I found it the next day in a bush about 25 yards away...thankfully. At least they never mess with my coffee pot. They might encounter big foot if they tried that. And, mother nature always provides us with a hairnet while hiking.

On the rivers I kayak there are lots of wild horses. They are usually in large groups of 8-20. They battle over the best submerged vegetation in the river, sometimes you will be paddling by and they break out into war. It can be sketchy when you are in the middle of them, I always try to pass them quickly. As far as big foot goes you are way more likely to see some weird lights in the forest, I've seen those plenty of times. Hope your upcoming super adventure goes absolutely superbly! Looking forward to seeing the footage. Have a good one!

Susie, Luke👍👍 Well that looked like fun, always nice to get away for a simple camp. I suppose you have tried this tent out before, sorry if I missed that part. Coming from South Korea, I would think the tent is pretty darn waterproof. Take some sugar cubes next time there, the horses will become your friends. Glad to hear Susie is healthy and no ill effects from the tick bite. That was just a nice mountain shower, made the air smell good. Great video, well done. See ya next time.

Hi Luke and Susie as a horse owner I just want to say for informational purpose that most likely the two horses you encountered were probably a mare and gelding or stallion. If the mare was in heat which she most likely was she would do a lot of squealing if the male horse was sniffing on her. They like to play hard to get until they decide the time is right. A lot of mares are really vocal. Hope this explains a little as to what may have been going on. You just happen to be in the middle of their love fest! Great video as usual!

I was experiencing depression for a long time, and watching your videos I gathered enough courage and knowledge as well as curiosity to start backpacking and hiking an what not, and now it is one of my favorite things to do and it's been helping me a lot in regards to my internal struggles.
