Padding will be added! Sometimes we don't have time to do all the finishing touches on a project before the video comes out, so especially in the Hacklorian series, little adjustments and detail work will be done before the final test video =) In this case, padding, and maybe, just maybe, thermal/HUD etc!

As an historical armourer, to make a "dome"/skull for a helmet we heat the metal and dish it into a round dishing form usually made from a stump by hammering it into the form. Afterwards we would smooth out everything by planishing, which is like polishing with a hammer. Then we would polish it with sandpaper and such. Most modern historical armourers would do the skull in two halfs and then weld them together.

Love that wrist mount ! My Dental Hygienist and the Dentist have these new chairs and arm rests so they're arms and wrists are completely founded on supports so they just use their hands and fingers.. in my mouth. It takes so much gravity off their bodies.

the fact the visor from the prop fits so well shows how good a job you did on the dimensions of the helmet you fabricated. I always figured Mando/Trooper helmets had to have some sort of HUD display, with the various protrusions on the side being sensors. Pity adding something like that would likely be too big of a pain in the ass.

for the padding consider using a Team Wendy liner, I used their epic air padding system in my kevlar helmet when I was in the Marine Corps and it was very comfortable while offering decent ventilation and impact protection.

I feel like you could work something similar to a Comtac into that helmet, where you have effectively headphones/hearing protection inside the helmet and microphones inside those earpiece things to give you superior hearing while wearing the helmet

If you use an English wheel on the dome of the helmet you could get nice n smooth transitions between separate pieces of metal

You might be planning on doing this behind the scenes anyway, but I'd highly recommend putting padding in the helmet. Wouldn't be hard, and it would be more comfortable and stable. Original stormtrooper helmets had a clover shaped piece of foam, or you could get army surplus helmet padding. Anyways, looks awesome!

@@MrGoesBoom there are many people who don't actually apply what they learn in college. They may have theoretical knowledge but they don't know how to make use of it practically. The hacksmith team, on the other hand, think outside the box and come up with creative ideas and build them.

Only certain metals can be hardened with heat treatment. Stainless steel isn't one of them. It's work hardened from rolling though!
