Hey Jason, love this 👍 I've been watching your videos everyday since last summer on my way to and from work which totals 2.2 hrs a day from Forfar to Aberdeen 👍 You have also helped with my mental health as I had a stressful period last year and took up gaelic due to your videos to help me get back and forward to work. Hehe, there are at least half a dozen young roosters now, all trying to perfect their crow. 😁 Rewatching is always a good idea - we never get everything the first time.

So helpful! What are you watching just reminds me of older/poetic English: what are you looking upon? Or, what are you looking on? Reminds me of newspapers when they say someone in the background of a photo is “looking on.” We still use this construction in English, just more passively now :)

Following on from "Dè air a tha thu a' coimhead", would you use the same construction to ask "What are you reading?" - ie "Dè air a tha thu a' leughadh?"?

Sgoinneil - great to see you applying these patterns to other examples! We don't necessarily need a wee helper word (preposition) with *a' leughadh*, so we could just ask "Dè tha thu a' leughadh?" 🙂

Good day to you. I was trying to think how to say ``Who is it from`` could we say ``Cò às a tha e`` seeing that ``Cò`` also means ``who`` ?

Hi Jason! My clan motto is "Never unprepared" in Latin-- I was wondering what it would be in Gaelic. I want to name my kitten Eàrlaidh because a Gaelic dictionary online said it meant "prepared/ready" but google translate said it meant Earl. Eàrlaidh is much easier to pronounce (and cuter) than Ullaichte, so I was wondering if you could tell me what the meaning of Earlaidh is and if you have any suggestions. Thank you so much!

Madainn mhath! Hmmm, that's likely going to be an idiom as opposed to an easier, more literal translation. Perhaps someone in the Gaelic Facebook groups can help? Maybe someone has compiled a list of clan mottos? The word I'm most familiar with for 'ready' is *deiseil*. I would avoid Google Translate if possible and turn to online dictionaries first. The one on learngaelic.scot has sound clips, which are very helpful. I'd look it up there. 🙂

Can you do a session on indirect questions please? Eg chan eil fhios agam na tha e ag ràdh. They get quite confusing with prepositions.

Wow, very useful. This pattern reminds me of your foundational course when talking about family. At the end of the reading for the lesson, you referred to what the readers family is good at...Dè air a tha iad, math?

Golden Rule for a language teacher: In your case, when you say ANYTHING in Gaelic, say it to the STUDENT. Don't talk to the BOARD. And don't mumble. If anything, slightly emphasise the articulation of sounds. The learner needs all the help they can get, so don't close off visual clues.

Frazier, Lord of ..., ...Thrones is not Gaelic. Leave it out.
