SpeedTestG channel videos generate more views on average than the videos on this channel and the videos are quite easy to make too. It was pretty popular and had a dedicated base of viewers. Not too sure about this arguement. Speed Test G faced some problems that have to do with animation handling on cross-app-transitions between ios and android (this continued to distort the results increasingly), i think this might be another big factor. Maybe gary is working on something in the background to bring speed test g back in the future.

Not likely to happen in the forseeable future. ARM wants to maintain extremely high profits ($2.7 billion) for its high end architecture for mobile phones. So they certainly not going to risk that by releasing the same chips for a $200 SBC. You are better of with a Intel N6005 rather than RK3588 for example. The intel not only cheaper and faster. It already has working graphic drivers in ubuntu. Power consumption at idle 7.1 watts etc etc. Hopefully one day risc-v will mature. Until then I personally am not going to reward ARM's greed.

@GaryExplains: Just a thought, to get your views. Since ARM clearly focused on improving efficiency in this year's models, wouldn't it make sense for SOC manufacturers to have 2*X3s alongside 3*A715 and 3*510 ( maintaining similar frequencies to present flagship processors, maximizing the power efficency & sustained performance with less heat). I think a tensor like setup wouldn't achieve that much efficiency as compared to the setup above. I didnt see any similar set-up in ARM's slides, so was wondering if there is something that doesn't permit that kind of layout.
@GaryExplains
@GaryExplains Рік тому
What you are suggesting is what Google did with the Tensor with the exception that you add an extra middle core rather than have four little core (so 2+3+3 rather than 2+2+4). Obviously that would be faster for multi-core scores, but not by a huge amount. The point is that since 12 cores are now supported then there are lots of possibilities. Arm was just showing a few key examples.
@davisfrancis3634
@davisfrancis3634 Рік тому
@@GaryExplains Precisely, as you explained. Thanks for the quick reply. I wonder if any of the manufacturers would take the leap of faith and increase the number of cores for the early 2023 SoC launches. With all the talk of the overheating and power hungry cores, i think this year would be a consolidation, especially since 3nm is in infancy at best and 4nm is just reaching to maturity efficiently. I think we are likely to see most of them stick to the currently more efficient 4nm process and 8 core setup, with next year's Plus lines or 2024 SOCs jump to a 10 core or 3nm process or maybe both together.

@randomcomment9992
@randomcomment9992 Рік тому
You will never see that 12 cores in tablets, since they are have 8 cores what alone can draw 4-5W power, so it can hit the 40-60W power consumption in total, so it's definitely requires a cooler on it.. (just keep in mind, the current X2 also can draw 4,2W on one core, and the better efficiency only visible on the same usage, so if you raise the clock speed from 3GHZ to 3,3Ghz or even 3,6Ghz, you can forget the better efficiency , you just gain better performance on nearly the same heat generation)

@fidelisitor8953

It's going to be really difficult. I don't know too much about it but currently, both TSMC and Samsung are having difficulties manufacturing in more advanced processes than 4nm due to low yield rates and high chances of chip failure. As it stands, TSMC's schedule for 2nm process has been pushed as far back as 2026 and to make matters worse, 2026 is rumored to be the closest time to expect this process. Will things get better as time moves on? We'll have to wait and see. But for now, we can only wish for the best.

maybe a FPGA over cloud video, or maybe pretend you have to use only arm based software for your fortune 500 company video?

If licensees create designs in a clean room, why does it matter what ARM creates?

I don't quite understand. Most of Arm's clients use CPU cores designed by Arm, only a rare few do their own designs (i.e. Apple).

Catching apple design is very difficult task. I still wonder how the hell they can make their cores way faster than any arm design. I don't think arm doing bad but apple definietly did it better

@@Arkan_Fadhila Nah, ARM is doing bad. Their current A710 and A510 cores are actually worse in performance per watt than the last generation.

@@Lvlaple4Ever even if intel and amd are fully switch to arm and take several years to close the gap to apple design, i think they never able to surpass apple design. I think It's apple doing way too good compared to the competition. I wonder if close ecosystem make them able to optimize their design better or not.

@@Arkan_Fadhila I think they have a lead because of they are don't need to make any compromise with any other companies. If you can do everything inside your company, that gives you more possibility (and even if you make compromises with others, you will never allow any outsiders from other company inside your office safe, they are just able to see around in your office, the safe is closed for them, so there are no full access for the outsiders compared to the insiders, what just make things a bit more difficult to work together, and this is why the can't reach the same efficiency and harmony)

@@randomcomment9992 realize, it was always qualcomm/arm/tsmc since the first iphone. Qualcomm and ARM stagnated. Thank goodness, mediatek, google, nvidia and samsung have jumped in. Qualcomm is pressured to compete better with mediatek, samsung wants to go in house and ARM now is pressured by mediatek to make better cpu's.

why does X2 sucks ?its worse than 845(x1) i guess

The X1 was in the 888 not the 845. Why do you say the X2 was bad? What data are you using to prove that?
