The worst is when you gel really well with a friend who thinks you're hilarious, then they bring you into another friend group where they encourage you to "do the thing" or "do the funny voice" that kills every time you do it anywhere else, but this time you know it won't go over well. You can just feel it, but you do it anyway bc you're pressured, and it's just crickets.

Ya gotta stick up for yourself somehow. Try making a joke like "No, that one's just for you," "Sorry, I'm not drunk enough for that," or even a slightly exaggerated scowl with "Hey, I'm not your dancing monkey!" Or, you could even say something like "Nah, the situation's not right for it. It has to happen organically." Then if they argue you can go like "Dude! Come on, it's gonna bomb this time. Set and setting." And then just casually dismiss them after that. If you don't take the whole thing too seriously then it can even open it up for you to do The Thing, because you showed a sense of self-awareness and the whole buildup kinda becomes part of the humor when the big reveal is as underwhelming as you said it would be. Even though I feel like a lot of people do that sort of thing to pretend to be humble, if you're genuine it won't come off that way. Or, if you just don't want to do The Thing and you keep dismissing them, it ends up making the person who keeps pestering you look like the awkward one as long as you make an attempt to steer conversation elsewhere with good humor and don't get too annoyed with them. Humor is one of my favorite things and it's basically a life saver. Cook it just right with dashes of straightforward honesty and you got yourself a recipe for getting out of most awkward social predicaments. Just be okay with admitting that you made a bad joke once in a while and people generally don't judge unless they're assholes. Although they might make fun of you a little, but that's usually a sign that they normally think you are funny.

This has happened to me so many times. I've always felt like the quiet one everywhere I go. In school nobody would wanna talk to me because I'm "too sad", they wouldn't invite me anywhere because "oh we thought you were an introvert". Always felt bad about it, and I internalized that I was "the quiet kid", but I was just shy and socially anxious, man. But after finding people that actually vibe with me, I realized that I'm actually really social, deathly extroverted, even. And I would not shut up, and I can be really funny and goofy. It actually makes me really mad actually, that my shell made people think I'm reserved, mad that I actually thought so too. So don't be afraid that you're not fun, goofy and interesting enough. You are, you're good enough. And if you can't gel with someone, that's okay.

Accurate that not everyone fits into smaller groups with everyone else. AND THAT IS OKAY! Not fitting into every combination of people is alright. You're you and you have a range of different ways to fit into different groups. It hits home for everyone, because even the most extroverted person has felt out of place in a group before. As for the Skit. So well done and hilarious. The staging of the people in the scene, timing, and music all well done. These videos quality in all aspects have risen for the better and still keep a whole tone of the original feeling from when they were starting out.

Its always broken my heart to see people get excluded for things like this, or just because they're not as fun to be around. Like, its complicated sometimes. Some people are obnoxious and/or are jerks, and some combinations of personalities don't quite mesh (like in the video) but if our first thought is about the fun we're having--or not having-- isn't that basically treating people as a means to an end (fun) rather than an end in and of themselves? Is the purpose of relationships my own joy, or is it loving people? There's a lot of nuance here, but idk. I've been on all sides of the equation (the guy excluded, the guy struggling with wanting to exclude someone, the guy who's friends are doing the excluding or being excluded) and I don't have all the answers, other than that, obviously, if we all loved each other selflessly, things would work out.

I am friend with two girls who I absolutely adore, but every time we are all together it gets kind of weird. Whenever I am hanging out with one of them apart from the other it's always fun, but if the other one joins, then I feel quickly excluded. They mostly talk to eachother and sometimes they do all conversations without letting me speak, and even if I try they tend to ignore me. The problem is that they don't even seem to notice it, most of the times they just do it and they are sure I'm having fun, while I'm obviously not
@serenaraia1111
@serenaraia1111 Рік тому
For example: once we stayed at one of the two girls' house and we usually like to do stupid things and to record them. We ended up playing a game where "the first one who laughs loses". I started to sing Shakira trying to imitate her voice cause I thought it was funny. Nobody even heard that, cause they were too busy trying to make the other laugh. Once we watched the video they finally heard it and they died of laughters. I felt so sad in that moment, cause they needed to watch a video to notice, otherwise they wouldn't have ever know.

I had a similar experience to you with these two girls who I considered my best friends, but once I got a girlfriend, one of them accused me of distancing myself from them and prioritizing my gf above them, so she started being distant w/ me. It was always really fun to hang out with one-on-one, but when the three of us were together they would talk to each other more and even leave me out. After a lot of back and forth fighting, I eventually broke it off because friend 1 was constantly being passive-aggressive to me and I knew I'd be happier if I left. So I went to my other friends and my life has been a lot more peaceful and fun these days
