RIP little Motley 🌈 All of motley's symptoms sound like Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). We JUST lost our cocker spaniel, Lettie, to this horrid autoimmune disease 3 days ago. Last weekend she ended up needing an emergency blood transfusion in thr middle of the night. This was her 3rd transfusion in 11 1/2 months. My heart breaks for Motley's family 💔🫂

Dr Lisa and Dr Chris are good at what they do. So is Dr Andrew. Good to see Dr Chris and Dr Lisa again. Sad that she passed away. Feel so sad for the owners. Prayers for the fur baby and Harry.

Did Motley’s original vets do something wrong or was this an unavoidable result of her heart condition?

Probably an undetected heart condition, triggered by an autoimmune reaction to the antibiotics and the stress of surgery. Even if the vets did a heart test before the surgery, they had no way of knowing that the little dog would have such an adverse reaction.

I really do not like you taking blood from Milo so many times. You really should stop asking and instead have a list of large dogs whose owners give permission to take their blood so Milo maybe gives blood once a year. Really, it is wrong to keep asking a man who works for you. He is not going to say no and likely he will not tell you. So I am telling you to stop. I hope others do as well.

I think the vets know how to do their job. Milo was fine, it's not like they were taking L's at a time.

Humans can donate blood every 56 days. Vets know how often that dog can safely donate.
