I'm impressed with that Traxxas 10th scale servo. The ProTek 170 TBL has been my go-to servo for a long time, and the Traxxas actually outperforms it at the same price point. At 7.4v, it has ~50 more oz/in. of torque, .02 sec faster per 60 degrees. And it's a standard 25-tooth output shaft. Only downside is the Traxxas is slightly heavier, but I don't see any reason why that servo couldn't slot in and perform great in a basher, racer, or even crawler rig from any of the other brands too.

I decided to take a chance on the 2085R for my XRT I just got. Normally I immediately go to Perfect Pass servos but I figured if I’m gonna try the dark side, I may as well jump in with both feet. Got the 2085R, the Traxxas servo horn to match. It was a very hard decision to buy this servo as they are even more than my PP servo at $120. Not to mention that PP servos r smaller, do very well in anything I’ve put them in, and u know what u r getting. But for the additional $25 and Traxxas trade in/exchange plan I figured I’d give it a try. Installed it a few days ago cause I’m waiting on additional parts to come in for part of an esc and motor upgrade so haven’t had a chance to drive it yet. Excited though.

Nice, I missed the launch as well. Me and my buddy just got new Xmaxx n XRT so I was telling him we needed to get the 2085x servo. He jumped the gun and bought one while I was researching the best one but didn’t want to modify the chassis or whatever. Then I went to order the 2085x and seen this new one and got it instead, my buddy’s salty af lol. Hopefully the dam thing lasts a while, I’ve heard the 2085x wouldn’t last but a few months 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ive seen some pretty hard bashers say the 2085x is good enough and havent replaced it Ive seen some that say its junk. I think its all on the user and how they use it. I went with 2085r cause more power and speed So far its good.

@@OGPAPERBOY77 noice… yeah I agree, I’m somewhat new to bashin so I gotta learn the do and dont’s. I’m guessing you wanna set the end points and make sure your servo saver is adjusted properly. I seen it came with a heavy duty spring, I ordered a M2C beef chassis brace and shock pistons last night. Almost got the flexible drive shaft kit but decided to wait until mine goes out but I’m still thinkin bout it lol. Might grab it just so it doesn’t get discontinued on me like half the Losi parts for the DB Pro that I bought along with the XMaxx. Hell I got the same amount of money in the DB Pro as the stock XMaxx lol. She’s a beast tho, anyway, I also did RPM hinge pins, RPM rear hubs and XRT front hubs/carriers, drive cup sleeves and the light kit. Pulled the pinion grub screw and added blue loctite to it, is there anything else you’d recommend to do to it? Kinda wanna keep the ESC for the light kit, at least till she burns up anyway, same with motor.

@@G__Mason You did it all! I wanted to keep mine all Traxxas so Im doing Ultimate clone builds xmaxx and xrt. I want to keep the esc for the same reason The light kit! Its awesome works nice with the traxxas app. The only thing Id upgrade to yours are the cooling fans esc and motor. Mark Upgraded them to the Protek PTK-2113. I did this upgrade on my xmaxx and its a huge difference You can hear it right away. They are easy to replace Mark has a video on it Im doing my xrt next.

@@G__Mason oh and I forgot Hardened Steel pinion and spur gears as well Those dont break as easy as the stock ones. And they say dont use the self upright feature cause it pops tires and it does. It happened to me once out of maybe 10 times that I used it.

@@OGPAPERBOY77 hell yeah man, appreciate all the info fr. I’ll def get some new fans, I put some on the Losi but didn’t know if I needed em on the Xmaxx or not. I have been looking into the gears, I’m just not sure about a few things but I’m tryna research and figure it out. I seen a-lot of ppl run the 1.5 mod gears with longer teeth to account for the flex but they only come in 35T (I think) so obviously you gotta up the pinion. Was wondering if that was harder on the motor or if the smaller spur balances it out 🤷🏻‍♂️. I also see a video talking about stripping gears and saying there’s a spacer on the motor shaft and a bearing in the holding that keeps it from backing off. Said you lose those “features” with aftermarket, which I’m not too pressed about. I know how to mesh gears and I can keep the pinion on the shaft so I dunno. What gears do you run in yours (size and brand)? I heard about the self righting thing, wasn’t sure what it messed up but had heard it’ll only work a handful of times then break. Haven’t used it and don’t plan to either, would be pretty cool if it actually worked properly tho.

Considering the price of traxxas Servos, I'll just stick with the cheap Amazon servos. Get the same performance for a fraction the cost. Or if i want an expensive servo just get a savox they have way more options and experience in the servo market

Ok, I understand the MAXX servo but $179 for the shiny servo? For a basher? Nope. Maybe in a high end crawler but still. There are other very nice servos for less like Perfect Pass at $100. Anyway, nice Raptor Mark. The light kit is cool other then no tail lights, come on Traxxas.

Traxass is literally the worst with steering and being able to control your RC. Between the proprietary stuff and the expensive upgrade options…. Being able to toss a solid servo that costs around 50 bucks in an RC to improve or replace the stock stuff is essential. Either be good from the factory or give us the ability to choose.

Proprietary mounting solutions that intentionally avoid industry standards should be shunned, and dismissed., not praised as "innovative " or "unique". Not only do they not use a standard mounting bracket, but they also use a proprietary servo spline as well. Come on Mark...dont hype people up for accepting this assault on industry standards practices like the Traxxas designs are superior, because we all know they aren't. Consumers deserve better, and Teaxxas needs to do better.

Does traxxas send you product or sponser you in any way? Because you literally live, eat,sleep and breathe the Traxxas brand. Traxxas is great dont get me wrong. But their electronics are okay at best. If their product wasnt so overpriced it wouldnt be that bad. But $50 for a very slow Fragile 10th scale 2075x servo is insane. I can get a faster stronger metal gear servo for $20 cheaper.

The 2075 servo I agree with, but this 2280 servo is comparable to other name brand servos of the same price. The protek 170sbl is slightly faster but the traxxas 2280 has 170 oz/in more torque.
