@teddysam93073 роки тому
@@p.a.w.sthetravelinggamer6750 It's more of an Illusion. On screen we can tell that the actress is an attractive person, but for the sake of immersion if the character looking a bit dorkly and the character has low esteem, it's easy for our minds to play along with what the story wants us to see. Ponytails are attractive feature ( Because I, as a guy have one.) but there's a body language to it. Ponytails can symbolism submission, sometimes meaning sporty, other times a low ponytail sends signals of a chic personality, but for the sake of these kinds of movie it's mostly means to be in submission of something like teachers, your peers, even your parents. The character will also show submissive traits and looked defeat. So if you pair a character's submission to their reality and their low-self esteem you can make an attractive women or men seem unattractive because of their low confidence and with the way they present themselves. So around the climax of movie, when it's prom, party, or some sort of event the character will then take out their ponytail symbolism to the audience that the character has gained confidence in themselves and has matured. This logic also follows with a character with long hair, dramatically or even casually cutting it short. (Which I hated so much.)

Just read the Bible and connect with God, he has a Destiny for everyone, everybody must go hes own Way to finaly finde back to the Vather, you are not alone even if it feels like it sometimes. Don't look at other People, don't look at wath other People do or have, it dosen't matter! True, Elizabeth! But filmmakers also make these girls "ugly" by giving them bad posture, a mistrusting facial expression, and a lifeless walk. When "the change" happens and their posture, facial and walk suddenly show hopefulness, confidence, and energy (with some vulnerability), suddenly they're attractive! It was never about the hair and the glasses. It was about an emotionally closed-off person opening up--usually because someone "finally" believed in them--and convinced them to start sharing their true self/life energy with the world. IMO. I just watched this korean drama. It's one of those very short dramas that are like 12 mins long and have like only 6/7 episodes . It's called "Secret Queen makers" or something like that. And I realised the template for "ugly" girls is basically some kinda curly messy looking hair, tied into a pony tail. Glasses and very badly dressed. Like the whole time I was watching the drama and she and everyone around her kept referring to her as ugly I got seriously frustrated. Like all she needed was some self confidence, a nice hairdo and a change of clothes (like seriously those clothes belonged to the bin or something). Obviously they do this because if they were to choose an actual ugly person it would be totally difficult to do the whole transformation scene and the actress might have self confidence issues and whatnot...

I think they've just sort of changed form. I mean this trope is still huge in low-budget tween romances (like all those Netflix original movies from the past couple years), but in the mainstream there's still very much that idea of "Who would have guessed that Quirky Female Friend™ was actually my soulmate? I guess the real Dream Girl™ was the friends we made along the way"
@aggersoul233 роки тому
You're in the wrong era bud.
@michaelscott-joynt32153 роки тому
This is depressingly, exactly how I imagine the thought process of many writers and producers in Hollywood. However, casting is quite the opposite. Hundreds of people auditioning and being shot down by soulless gatekeepers. Once they're happy, they'll pitch some cheap ideas and hand it over to wardrobe. They don't seek a genuine, believable person who can become the character. They have a project and they need to sell it.

@LuizAlexPhoenixРік тому
I think movies normalize outright bullying behaviour way too often. Like you said, even if someone is the top ace in academics and sports, to be actually popular they have to at least not act like Disney villains all the time. It's one thing to be into gossip and stuff, but movies have people talk in front of teachers about how much the protagonist doesn't belong there and stuff.
