When an electronic device is running on battery, it's important to know what parts of the circuit draw the most current. Also, IoT devices can often go from drawing practically no current to waking up and becoming much more active. Profiling is a process where you look at sections of code or interactions with hardware to see how much power each requires. In this video, James shows you four tools (and their tradeoffs) for profiling IoT or Edge Machine Learning devices.
You'll also learn whether it makes more sense for you to use a Digital Multimeter (DMM), Power Supply with history graphs, an oscilloscope with a current probe, or a source measurement device for this process bit.ly/3mKHvAu

I own the profiler kit. It is brilliant. I bought it specifically for a battery operated temperature sensing project. It cost me approx £80 in the uk. Worth its weight in gold. I now have 10 temperature sensors around my house. They use ESP-Now technology to transmit data every few minutes back to a recorder. Each sensor runs off 3xAA batteries. These will last 3 years. All predicted by the profiler. Awesome.

That power profiler kit looks nice. I'd say it's a must have. 👍 Thanks for sharing 🙂

Could the current drop from the I²C devices be related to pull-up resistors?

@50 Hz check this bit of kit out. I like the USB current monitor, but the power supply with supply terminal sense would be a cool bit of kit to have int he lab.
