it's crazy to me that this is possible. I would say our ability to communicate is far ahead of all our other technology.
@gameimprovements4347

Fucken eh. Not only that, today it feels like most messages are sent/ received nearly instantaneously (by general brain receptive measurements of time)- this means that all of the messages that are sent a the same time to the same tower in the world have to be received on a different frequency, be decoded, or at a different time, in mere milliseconds or nanoseconds of time all in agreement/ or in structured sequence with each other, to the next tower, and then to the reicevers to what feels like to us is "instantaneously" - That's nuts

On and off. Yes and no. Between a combination of two binaries you can essentially say anything, as long as there is complex enough ruleset to decrypt the order of each 0 and 1, the time between them. Through those variables and using enough 0 and 1s you can essentially say anything.

Maybe the other phone is 10 m away, and the signal output should happen from the same tower. Or maybe it should send it to a tower in a different country. How does it know which tower to send to ?

When a message is sent on a LAN, it obviously first hits the gateway. Is the gateway connected via high speed cables to a cell tower? If so, that goes against what was said in the video about cell towers receiving the radio waves as your gateway instead would be serving that role.

There is no single answer for that... For simple voice call, It is done by decoding the target MSISDN which includes MCC,MNC and terminal Identifier (mobile country code, Mobile network code and User equipment code)... For others, It may just use DNS query to a web server and the web server' underlying communication protocol takes over. and a thousand other things...
