Humiliation and Violence in the Russian Army| What is it like to be a Russian officer
An interview with Daniel Vladimirovich Alferov, a lieutenant in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who voluntarily surrendered as part of the "I Want to Live" program, has been published on a UKposts channel.
Alferov graduated from the Ussuriysk Suvorov Military School and the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. After completing his education, he was assigned to the 136th Motorized Rifle Brigade in Dagestan, where he served as the commander of a strike motorized infantry platoon in a strike motorized infantry company.
Alferov shared that the training at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School did not always live up to the promotional promises. Despite assurances of modern simulators and equipment, cadets often encountered outdated machinery. He also discussed the contract he had to sign, obliging him to serve an additional five years after finishing the school and to repay the cost of his education in case of early discharge.
The conversation also addressed the experiences of conscripts and contract soldiers, as well as the changes that have occurred in the army over time.
Conversation with a prisoner of war and a call to relatives
Russian army in Ukraine. Captured, wounded soldiers and officers of the RF Armed Forces.
All participants in the video gave their voluntary consent to filming and publishing materials with them on the Internet, in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 152.1 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, and also, in accordance with Article 307 of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
This video is for informational purposes only, and in no way calls for any actions or conclusions.

It is riveting. I was just thinking about the comparison with Israel, in 2 days they managed to mobilise 334,000 men, Russia took a year to do the same and ended up with an army of drunks, hobos and prisoners. I can now see why.

They are used to that everything is a lie, and they are told this is the normal state of the entire world. There is no optimism for a bright future, there is only the narrative of the heroic struggle against the foreign enemy. It is a very effective propaganda and tool to prevent people from being motivated for change. Similar effects can be seen in the West, but not as wide spread. Look at people in the West who think in general that government is evil, they all want to return to a former comforting state, they are not willing to look in to a constructive future. Because every step forward could be a trap in their minds. So it is easy to check out and no think too much about it. That is why 9 of 10 Russian say "I am not into politics". Its not because of fear, its because it seems to be pointless to bother.

28:57 that was also the ethos of command controlled economies of the Soviet Empire - the more you tried to deliver, the more people hated you for breaking the "nominals". Since everyone was rewarded for loyalty and illegal dirty dealings, no one was rewarded for doing more work, so anyone doing more work was disturbing the balance of "no recognition = no fecks given". The economies nearly collapsed due to this. Now we see armies collapsing due to this, too.

"We were told civilian organizations will repair our equipment, only make a request and they will fix it". About 25 years ago I served in the Western military after my first days in the army, we could swap any army-provided dirty or broken equipment for a new one when we lived in the military base. So basically we maintained only our weapons and the rest was provided by the army. Probably in Russia, they spend a lot of time doing laundry in the army and other important soldier skills.
