I played a little bit and found out that the footprint is muuuuuch more influenced by sims actions than builds. Like a civil engineer on the non-green path (lvl 5-10) will switch to the footprint to industrial in a heartbeat.

I found a similar thing for parenthood. Everything is skewed to make things better. It’s super easy to give the kids the positive traits, but it takes ages to give them the negative ones. It’s too easy to have a ‘good’ or easy life in the sims 4.

It seems like EA just wanted the players to play their way and no other way, which is why everything turns out perfect even when you’re working against it.

it makes me think that by default the environment is skewed towards going green no matter what - like if you look at the industrial neighborhood it goes neutral by the end of the video even with no interference, which is interesting

Part of what made The Sims 3: Into the Future so fun was the fact that you didn't just get to go to a utopia but also a dystopia, and you had a way to make either one happen depending on what you did in the world. This pack just makes it the opposite really.

The only thing I thought was interesting about this pack was the dirtiness and polluted environment. So it’s good to know ahead of time that they have things so skewed to go the other way and make it almost impossible to destroy the neighborhoods. I’ve watched other people play and they’ve done nothing but dumpster dive a few times, and that is apparently enough to make the environment go from polluted to neutral. Like taking some junk out of a dumpster was all it took to flip that switch over into neutral.

If it's actually nearly impossible to impact the environment for negative in this pack, I'm going to be so disappointed :/ we already have so much stuff focusing on doing the right thing for the worlds, let us have our fun and create what if-scenarios as well. On a deeper level, I assume at least a tiny bit of the point with this pack is to teach people about consequences for the environment, and making it go both ways could be just as eye-opening. Just my opinion.

I think this is disappointing. It seems very skewed towards being ‘green’, which I get is the point of the pack, but if you want to make a trash world you should be able to.

In case Plumbella or anyone else is curious, there are some other ways to add the industrial footprint I think. I haven't tested it yet, but there are wall patterns, roofs, fences, floor patterns, some columns, and one random window that add to the industrial footprint. (Likewise, there's a ton of stuff that adds to the green footprint - most of the Eco Lifestyle windows and doors, for example, as well as nearly every landscaping plant.) I *think* - like I said, haven't tested it yet - if you use the industrial footprint stuff in the neighborhood and ditch the green footprint stuff, it might help. The fireplace Plumbella uses in the video actually seems to have less of an industrial impact than the other fireplaces - it's 4, the other ones are 5. The wall patterns/floors/etc have a rating of 1 or 2, but I suspect that's per panel, which means a double-sided five panel long wall using a pattern with a footprint 2 rating would give you 20. Weirdly enough chimneys don't say they have an eco footprint rating, just the fireplaces. Again, haven't tested - my computer freaked out when I was putting all the footprint-affecting stuff one one lot so I want to give it a break before I rev up the game again. Thought I'd share this info though in case anyone wants to follow in Plumbella's footsteps and try to dirty up the world. =)

I've been experimenting with industrializing lots and I found using "cushiony concrete" with a industrial footprint value of 2, all over your lot is very helpful.
