But this guy gets shot 5 times, after presenting his registration, insurance and everything ... Like wth is going on 😳 it's disturbing and disgusting. This is not how things should be .

All I wanna say is. It takes 4-6 *years* to become a lawyer. It takes 4-6 *months* to become a police officer. So 4-6 years to learn the law, but only 4-6 months to enforce it.
@jamentrojcak2852

It’s becuase cops are paid too low to justify more education, someone isn’t gonna spend $80k in college to learn a job which makes on the high end 50-60k per year. People trying to defund the police will just result in less well trained cops
@uncommonsense7830

It's because they're underfunded, uncared for, the government doesn't pay for half their shit, FBI doesn't do their job, and becoming a lawyer is a lot more rewarding than being part of the PD. Also, it takes a lot more than KNOWING the law to become a lawyer, whilst police still learn about it while on duty and even during traffic stops.

I was thirteen at the time, and was walking back home with my (black) friend, who I’ll call Alex. Im Native American/white and I look like it too. Alex and I were both raised to fear the police instead of respecting them. We were walking back from a BLM protest (ironic) when we got stopped by a police officer. He asked us what we were doing, and we said we were walking home. I had a backpack full of first aid supplies and snacks, along with signs. He “thought there were drugs in there” and demanded me to take off my bag so he could search it. He searched it, didn’t find anything, and demanded to do a full-body pat down. On two teenage girls. Alex refused, I told him to let us go because we weren’t doing anything. That’s when he drew his gun. Now, my dad was in the military for twenty years, and had trained me vigorously on gun safety (how to fire, how to clean, and how to defend yourself against someone with a gun). I did what you’re supposed to do if you get a gun pulled on you, which is to close the distance and do not, under any circumstance, let them pull that trigger. He was aiming it at Alex, and was yelling at both of us to get on the ground. I screamed at him to stop, screamed for help from anyone who could’ve heard. That’s when the gun went off. No amount of action movies prepared me for the absolute pain I felt. I was lucky enough for the bullet to have missed the bone and arteries, but it lodged into the flesh of my thigh. I went down, and he pointed the gun at Alex again. I was screaming for help and in pain, and he pointed it at me to get me to shut up. I was fully convinced I was going to die, so I yelled at him to go to hell. I cursed him out while I was bleeding profusely. I don’t remember what happened after that, but I was under the knife within the hour. They got the bullet out, stopped the bleeding, etc etc. My family sued, Alex’s family sued. Nothing. No dice. I, a child, have to use crutches and have severe PTSD. Because one man had a power trip. If anything, I’m happy that Alex didn’t get shot. I’d rather I get shot than her. It’s not as severe as some other stories, but that’s mine. Fuck the police.

you shouldn’t compare your situation to others and say “it wasn’t as severe”. ANY form of police brutality is unjustified, uncalled for, and disgusting. i know the mental and physical pains may never disappear, but i hope overtime you’ve slowly been able to cope with it. what they did was disgusting and though you don’t deserve the situation you’re in now, the best we can do is keep living and calling out this atrocious behavior. i hope you’re safe now, take care of yourself too. ❤

When I was a child, my father was extremely abusive. He would use his belt like a whip and leave welts on my older brother. One night, my brother had enough and called the cops. Let me note, we're very white. When the cops showed up, the first thing they did was ask my brother what he'd done to deserve it. (he'd gotten suspended for fighting, classic sign of an abused child taking it out on someone else.) One of the cops pulled my brother aside and told him "If you *ever* call us for something like this again, I'll let your dad borrow *my* belt." And then they left. Children begging for help. No one cared.

I had a police officer arrest me for getting beaten by my dad. He said "you look like a bad person." "Just because you're a crying girl doesn't mean anything" "don't talk, your parents are speaking". I never was photographed with the bruises all over my body and he wouldn't let me have a voice or a choice. I was locked up. Then months later when I was released, my parents locked me out of the house where my belongings were so I called a sheriff, he arrived, and he said "I know what you've done. I don't want to hear anything from you." And he said to my parents that he understands them but unfortunately they have to let me in..

HAD HE ACTUALLY CARED HE WOULD KNOW 1.) the police were called at least once a month due to noise complaints(my father screamed like 24/7) bruises on myself and siblings. 2.) CPS had come to the house at least 10 times in just that year, and 3.) we had already been placed in a foster home prior due to child neglect. And this dumb ass cop wanted to tell me to “listen” to my abuser. I had bruises, I had scars, my siblings had bruises but you know “kids will be kids, they just like to rough house” 🙄

When I was 14 I was walking home from school with my best friend. I feel the need to mention that we are both white, but I sometimes get mistaken for Hispanic due to my tanner skin and curly hair. When we were just a few blocks from my house a squad car started following us very slowly. I made the decision to stop and see what the office wanted. When he approached us he told me that I matched the outfit description of a teenage runway. I was wearing blue jeans and a black sweater. I asked who had called it in just in case it was for me and this man seriously said “that’s classified”. He completely ignored my friend during this entire experience and kept asking for an ID even after I told him I was only 14 and didn’t have one. The whole experience felt super sketchy. 2 years later I had a seizure during a babysitting job. When the woman I work for called the ambulance a police office showed up and started yelling at her about what drugs I had taken. She calmly explained that I have epilepsy but he refused to listen and insisted that she must be my dealer. I know these experiences aren’t as extreme or as dangerous as the ones in the video, but I wanted to share to show how deeply engrained fear mongering, racism, and needlessly arresting people is in the police system.

Alex Thompson I realize that my description of the first experience probably didn’t make this clear, but the whole runaway story he approached me with seemed completely made up. I had one of the most basic outfits on and he never even asked for my name. He also never acknowledged my very pale friend during the entire encounter. The exact thing happened toy father as well. Were a family of 7, most of us have already moved out doing our own thing, only one of my sisters and parents still live together. Theres been a lot of drama in my family between those three, he was drinking a lot and has caused some trauma for my sister. He was not allowed into the house essentially because my sister got a restraining order for him, they let him stay in a shed of sorts because they didnt want to leave him homeless after almost 30 years of living together and we still love him, he was there even if he wasnt present, he was a great guy when sober, a woodworker etc. So long story short, he got drunk one night and wanted to enter the house or something, my sister called the police on him. When they arrived they basically dragged him into the vehicle, my mother heard one of the officers telling 'be careful he's going to suffocate'. After few hours my mother got a call from them saying that he had died during the trip to the police station. It's alleged that their actions caused it, we didn't sue anyone, there was no bringing him back.

When my brother (who is white) was 16, there were protests going on at the school he went to. He was eventually told to leave the premises, and he agreed, he just said he had to go get my younger brothers. Because he didn't listen, he was arrested and booked overnight in prison. My thoughts exactly. I don’t think there’s any other way to do it either. Good people just need to be exceptionally good cops and stand up for what is right. Even while in front of their co-workers or not on a bodycam. Not “most” or “a lot” of the time. All the time is the only right answer here! Another good point that was brought up in this video was that i think it definitely creates a better sense of community and a deeper understanding for others when you work where you personally grew up. Or at least locally. People seem to not understand this point because it strengthens the relationship & trust between the police and the public, especially when you respect civilians and make them feel understood/safe within a super tough situation. Which is the police’s main job beside “protect and serve (always with a 🔫 pointed at your face ofc 🙄)”. Yeah obviously a whole lotta “protecting” going on. Only ever for cops and for other fellow friends of cops. Bunch of arrogant idiots licking each others boots is what it is. This crap needs to end already. It’s time someone finally investigated the bs court cases ruled in favor of the cops in over 97% of the time!!. It’s sad- people become cops to “help” people, then become nothing but criminals in uniform. Sickens me that violence could be so normalized like this, When the whole point was to supposedly help people. Not to cause even more harm and suffering wth..

Fun fact: The stamford prision experiment is a sham. The man who made it hired his buddy to influence what the "guards" did. He admitted it years later but nobody ever cared much because the initial "findings" helped shift blame away from police officers. The "its human nature" argument is completely untrue. The experiment was replicated by the BBC resulting in prisioners and guards chilling together by day 3. They stopped using the cells and all ate together, again they aired it on TV expecting it to be dramatic but didnt get much press when it ended up just being a bunch of dudes chilling in harmony. It is in human nature to be good. It is the inhertinly racist bigoted police system that influence individual officers into acting inhumanely, and then unions protect the perpetrators. Thats what made the police system the shitshow it is today.
@randomhuman8649
@randomhuman8649 3 роки тому
@@ellaellaellaella555 The Stanford Prison Experiment is massively misrepresented. People think the participants were simply told they had power and then chose to abuse it, but in reality they were lied to about the entire nature of the experiment. They were told that the experiment was on the prisoners to test how they reacted to the mistreatment and were commanded to be strict and cruel as part of the experiment requirements. Then when the results came out the organizers of the experiment flipped the script and acted as if they were shocked by the participants doing as they were told. The true takeaway from the experiment should be that people are willing to do horrible things to others and abuse their power freely as long as they are told by others to do it or that it's okay. People don't uphold their supposed moral code when their actions are "justified." Another experiment in which people were given the ability to administer electric shocks showed the same thing. Upon being told by the person running the experiment to turn up and up and up the shock strength, they continued to do it despite seeing that the person they were administering the shock to was hurt and possibly in danger bc it was "justified" by the fact they were told it's okay to do it.

@HeSaidThatHerGyatWasSoOhio 3 роки тому
@@randomhuman8649 haha re-correction. Re examining the buzzer experiment researchers found only 20% actually believed the experiment was hurting someone as it was approved by Harvard, the 20% that did believe it may be real went all the way to the final round when they were told they had no choice but to press it, then all but one pressed it. Why? Interviewing the participants they found that they were willing to do something bad "in the name of science". They were told the study was about memory and retrieval and their help in the research would help cute Alzheimer's. So the real takeaway is more about misinformation and not letting the goal justify the means.

I live in a very upper class dominated city. When I was in high school, I decided that I wanted to join the military so I started running every day after school. Since then, I’ve almost been shot, I’ve been stalked, I’ve been raided and I’ve been continuously harassed by the police. What I learned from all these encounters is the overwhelming amount of people who call 9-11 on “assumptions”. On the day I was almost shot by the police officer (who would end up stalking me for a month) I learned that someone called the police because they said I had a “large duffle bag and was cutting in front of traffic repeatedly” and “was wearing riot gear”. Absolutely none of this was true and I almost lost my life because of it. The lesson to take from all of this I guess is to not make assumptions for everything in life that you don’t have the context too because you may be dancing with someone else’s life. Thanks for reading if you did. :)

@@rasmuslarsen1867 Not shoot someone 5 times at point blank range. That cop could’ve just as easily used a taser. Shooting him was not what he should have done.

This video really helped me understand what people meant by saying “let’s defund the police,” I now know that when someone says that they aren’t trying to put bad on people they are just trying to put that money to better causes. Thank you for making this video I think it really helped a lot of people (including me) understand the seriousness of this problem and god bless everyone who had to go though that or feel like that. Everyone deserves peace and respect especially right now so let’s all show that by opening the door for someone, wearing a mask in public, having manners (thank you, excuse me) and think before commenting something (think about if it’s gonna hurt someone if so don’t send it or revise it so it’s uplifting criticism). Let’s all be kind and happy today so just spread love. Have a great day! 😊😇
