Cell phone boosters are becoming very popular in the nomadic movement. Having a cell phone booster can make the difference between hardly any signal in your skoolie or RV to having good signal. Do you need one? Will it work for you? This video talks about all those things and then we install a HiBoost Travel 4G 2.0 cell booster in our skoolie and show the results! They will surprise you!

About Us:
Hi! We're Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We built a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible. Bussy was never meant to be parked in a driveway, waiting for weekend trips or holiday getaways. After we finished the build, we packed everything we kept into the bus and drove away from our old house and into the world of off-grid living, aka boondocking, and endless travel adventures!
Since we planned to be boondocking the majority of the time, we made choices such as; a 100-gallon water tank, an Air Head composting toilet, a 1500w solar power system with 1000Ah in AGM batteries, etc. We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, from our Skoolie Build Series, to infinite buslife adventures beyond!
Mike & Kerry

Great series Mike I've been thinking a lot on how to bring the cell phone and internet reception into the coach I appreciate your detail description on your build in what works and what doesn't for you I. Very interested in hearing how you like your AIMS Inverter or don't like what you wish or could change about it etc. Thanks buddy.

Howdy Mikegyvr!! An enjoyable and informative review. Thank you. InfoVideo Requests: (1.) For walk-talkie enhancement, mount an external antenna on both bus and car. If suitable, upgrade to a mobile transceiver in both vehicles to improve performance. Match capabilities between the mobiles and handhelds.
@rexj.weinheimer2279

(2.) A directional mobile cell phone antenna could become an accessory to the booster you just installed and reviewed. Some of the remote locations you enjoy might be further enhanced with the Yagi style antenna install. I know you love to experiment! All the best de KC5AGO.

Good video, Mike. Very timely as we are considering a booster. Are there any boosters you have seen that do not have to have cable from the exterior antenna to the interior antenna? I ask because I don't want to punch any holes in our Airstream! Just curious and thanks again

Just a thought. But have you thought about Starlink ? They have been allowing roaming lately which is awesome. I have never tried Hiboost but have watched a ton of videos on boosters. Most of them are not worth it.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 2 роки тому
Hi Charles. I think if I lived in a van and was able to go places that are extremely remote then I would look into starlink. Because I live in a 40-ft school bus and have limited ability to park it is very infrequent that I'm without cell service. On top of that if you go into an area such as a forest then starlink becomes a problem because the satellites are moving and even one tree can get in the way of your signal for a while. If you are parked inside of forest you would have very spotty internet. We have really given this a lot of thought and have done a ton of research on starlink and honestly I think that cellular service is still the best option for us at this point.
@Valicyn

@@BussyMcBusface totally understand. I will hopefully soon be in my bus. But Im thinking Starlink will be for me as I stream a lot of thing. Especially you guys when you upload :D

So because of the needed 20' separation it most likely won't work out on a truck camper.?
@experimentchannel9692
@experimentchannel9692 2 роки тому
They make versions for cars, smaller indoor antenna & you put your phone in a holder next to it. IMO if ur out in the backwoods no signal they won’t do shit. Chinese boosters are the same as these hiboost sponsored ones 1/10th the price…65db gain house/RV 5 band booster is what you want & a tiny inside antenna it will get you a signal. Speed wise you want to have MIMO (multiple data signals) and signal boosters don’t offer this unless you buy two. LTE router is the way to go if you use Wi-Fi regularly, connected to MIMO antenna, you can also get inline boosters for when the antenna isn’t enough.
@BussyMcBusface
@BussyMcBusface 2 роки тому
That's when you go for the truck/car version. They have those too.

Did the ham radio channel get taken down? I see the link isn’t in the description anymore. Also, I think I saw coax when you were showing the wires going outside of the bus. Are there plans coming into effect to put an antenna on the bus that we haven’t heard about? K6DAC
