Using ARC was an extreme oversight and terrible idea for a video trying to show people PC is a better alternative to console. Will you sometimes run into the crashing/issues shown in this video? Yes on rare occasion, not every game you try playing like in this video.

It's not like the fancy vibration tech is supported on PC anyway, that's actually a plus for the Playstation, if you give a shit, which, yeah, most people don't, because keyboard and mouse is still better, and not even an option on PS5.

But the PS5 needs you to pay to play online and the PS Store is nowhere near as good as Steam in any respect. Plus, don't you need that theoretical PS5 that can install mods and emulators or at the very least play PS2 games? I don't think Sony has released that one yet.

Pretty much plug & play as Windows installs the drivers. Steam also has options to get any input device (wheels, flight sticks etc) to be configured. There is also the manufacturers websites to get drivers and/or software that goes with the input device

Most console ports (on steam specially) will immediately work the moment you plugin controller, even a game like days gone that is only on PlayStation (and PC) both accepts xbox controllers but also adjusts the UI to match xbox buttons.

@willwunsche6940 To be fair to windows and game devs, hdr standards and implementations on tvs and monitors are a mess. A lot of them are theoretically hdr capable, but not in a way anyone would want to use.

That’s the thing with HDR, you can’t be sold it with words, you have to own it for a bit and then try to switch back to SDR. Games with realistic graphics look like over saturated cartoons in SDR mode.

tbh I never understood what the fuzz was about. I always saw consoles as highly limited product. Sure, you'll see you occasional post that claims that "there's no point in having a PC if a console costs less" (mainly from console only players either way) - but exchanging capabilities of modding, better user experience, more games available and no subscription cost for just wanting to play online and talking on a slow peer 2 peer voice chat at basically no additional cost for the manufacturer isn't exactly something that sounds too great to me. If I ever would want a console again I'd just straight up let my PC start with Steam in Big Picture mode, hook it up to my TV and have a wireless keyboard & mouse for modding stuff and adding non-steam games to the steam library. Doesn't even matter if a PC costs 400 more.

​@@Unknown_GeniusConsoles are more about a seamless experience. Things are all plug-and-play and you never really have to deal with drivers and such, and not everyone has the time or is willing to invest in this process. That's of course without considering platform exclusives.

@@mcslender2965 Here, in Australia that is, you can pickup a 6600 for $50 cheaper then the A750. Which is only slightly less powerful then the A750. Up to the person in question of course, if you're a tinker then the A750 is a great card. But if you don't want to deal with its teething issues then the 6000 series is the way to go. Value for money is great, but the equation is not purely about performance, it's also about the experience with the card. Atleast that's my opinion!

In the US at least, the Arc A770 is cheaper than the 6700 XT (even if you go used) which matters a lot in a budget like this, but moreover I think the idea was to match (really beat) the 16gb of combined memory of the console, and the A770 is the only 16gb card cheap enough for this budget.

If you want to get creative you can also play physical copies of games as well from older systems, Or go the less legal route through emulation. And don't forget the free games you can get often enough, I haven't paid Epic a cent but have over 300 games on my epic library with a new one (not always good) every week. As a personal example I have a game save of FFVII I've been playing since around 2001 that I've just never gotten around to beating. I started playing it on an old first gen Playstation, moved it to a PS2, got the card reader back then and move that to a PC that I played on (with horrible PS emulation, with the disk even at the time) up to around level 70 on the first disk because I'm a masochist, stopped playing for a few years and managed to port that save over to the PS3. I didn't play that save for probably 12 years or more, and last year decided to finally beat the game and got my 2001 FFVII game running perfectly on my PC using the PS3 card reader to move it over... I still haven't beaten the game but thats a fully different issue.

Not to mention (I know this towards the ps5) but with game pass for 150$ a year you can have over 20+ big name games.

you can buy ps4 games for the same prices if you buy second hand physical copies (physical copies are also just cooler!) and PSN also does sales. steam sales are nice, but people vastly overestimate how much cheaper they are than console prices. imo free EGS games and pc game pass are much better value propositions compared to what you can get for a PS5.

@spongy179 if you buy solid parts a PC will last a long time and I have nothing against consoles I still have an N64 but a PC build will look and play better than any console and the PC has the benefit of using software like steam to purchase at least x100 more games that will never come to console.

@spongy179 so being realistic if you bought a 4080 GPU and a 13900k cpu that will last a minimum of 6-7+ years before any performance drop is noticeable along with that you can then over clock and get a few more years. A console, especially one built today is using already old hardware.

If someone wants to game for an hour after work and doesn’t need/ want a PC and they don’t want to deal with all the additional hassle of a PC, updates, drivers not playing nice with each other, can’t just pick up where you left off, possibly having to drape wires across a living room, etc. The convenience factor is a huge contributor to why consoles are a better fit for a lot of people.

And drivers are generally just managed by windows and if you HAVE to do updates for graphics it's like once every 3-6 months.... Drivers issues basically don't exists anymore. Why wouldn't you be able to pick up where you left off, its the same game? Wireless peripherals has been more popular than wired ones for years now on PCs.

I’m not very active in this community, I just watch some of these videos every once in awhile. I keep seeing this meme, is the joke that he had prerecorded videos from before he had a beard and now they’re catching up to present day?

Right but the bargain hunting and researching/picking all the components is half the fun of owning a PC! I get that it's not for everyone, but for people like me there's a certain satisfaction you get from building it yourself that console gaming can never provide. With my current build I spent an entire week getting my fan curves *just* right, and I enjoyed every second of it, even moreso than actually gaming on the thing. With a console you just plug it in and go. *BORING!* It's like going to a mechanic instead of working on your own car. Where's the fun in that?

Used workstation $400-500. GPU is the problem. Parts are always inflated. Anything mass produced like a gaming console is going to cost the company behind it a fraction compared to trying to buy off the shelf parts. Plus they don't make money off the consoles their business model is pay to play. It's obviously more expensive to PLAY on a console but it's cheaper upfront.

i have all three...laptop since easier for me to do work, i do have pc gaming at home and a ps5.........i'm more to editing, and office work so having a laptop and a pc gaming at home really do helps me a lot.

@@sjneow even then, when buying a laptop nowadays, buying one with gaming capability is still pretty expensive; especially if you try to match performance to a desktop, as it'll end up being more expensive. plus both have their drawbacks: laptops have difficulty with cooling, are less customizable, and usually have a TDP limit; desktops are usually not portable and tend to be less efficient with power draw i actually have an rtx 4060 laptop, and it's really convenient as a student. i'm not trying to put down consoles-i even said they're great for gaming. low price, convenience, etc. it's just that as a device, individually, computers (including laptops as well) offer much more past gaming, and obviously at a higher price than consoles if you can get away with a regular cheaper laptop for work to combo with a console, then knock yourself out. the biggest flex with these things is usually spending less💯

They also forget to mention the biggest downside for PC: there's a lot of shitty ass ports that are probably never getting fixed, usually with non stop Shader Compilation Stutter and excessive VRAM requirements (especially PS5 ports weirdly enough lol). Also, Microsoft should wake the fuck up and make Windows an option on a Xbox console.

No way does their computer run the game at 1440p60 like the console does, and it probably can't run 4k40 (because yes, the ps5 can do 40fps if you have a 120hz screen) either

Ex console user here: I left xbox because I had to factory reset my box everytime I had to use it. Granted you seem to fancy playstation more but the point is everyones milage varies Ive been on PC since 2020 never gotten any windows error messages can sit back on my couch and use my controller or use my KBM on literally any game I want point of this comment is for many PC is easily a great console replacement that "just works"

Like others have said, your opinion here, while valid, is also subjective. I was a HUGE console gamer up to and including the Xbox 360, but I honestly switched due to something like they weren't going to allow backward compatibility or something and then later rolled back on that decision. I don't remember if that is accurate, I just remember thinking that I don't have this hassle when I want to play my pc games and didn't bother picking up another console. Most of my friends followed suit, which did make the whole thing easier as well. Some counterpoints to consider: - Computers will last through multiple console generations (assuming you aren't someone who NEEDS the ultra top of the line gigachad graphics at all times) - Once you have a good computer it isn't nearly as expensive to upgrade certain parts in the future - The peripherals work perfectly from one upgrade to the next (consoles are starting to get better with this) - The Vast majority of the time pc gamers have the same gaming experience. Outside of launch day issues, I rarely, if ever am troubleshooting issues with a game. This is also the same experience with all of my friends. This was definitely an argument that used to be relevant, but we are in a significantly better place than we were even 10-15 years ago. A few other thoughts, for me personally, it is much much more expensive to get setup on a console than just forking out even $1000 upgrading my computer. After I factor in the console, the $100 controllers x 3 and the online subscription fee, I am already almost there and I don't even have any games to play. Buy a half-dozen games and I'm well above that $1000 mark and still don't have access to the hundreds upon hundreds of games I have access to on my pc. And none of that factors in all of the other things I can and do use my pc for. Please don't also misconstrue any of this as bashing consoles, that is definitely not my intention. Some of my best gaming memories were crowded around the couch playing Halo with my friends. I just want to show how for some people, especially those of us who only have the budget for one or the other, it's not as clear cut as many say.

If u get Ryzen 5 3600(more cache than CPU in PS5(Selled as Ryzen 7 4700S) and also higher clocked, so in the end that CPUs have similar performance in games) and RX 6700(U can even try with RX 6650 XT) u will have very similar performance to PS5

​@@jonathandrouin8717 Half year ago(Around September 2023) u can easily build PC with that spec for 500$ with new parts, today u probably will need to search some deals, if u don't want to buy used parts - but its still depends on yours country(in Poland where i live half year ago i builded setup for a friend with that parts i listed, but without PSU and SSDs for 2000 PLN which was around 450 USD all parts i bought was new and PS5 price was around 3000 PLN which means around 689 USD at that time) and u actually get something more than "thing" to play games, but if u need thing only to play singleplayer games for less money, then consoles will be less expensive choice at start

You can still get xfx rx580 8gbs for $139 still play’s everything in 1080 and a lot in 1440 and even quit a bit in 4k I even sold a $500 pc with a msi armor OC 4gb one they still go crazy I sell all my $500 PCs with a 580 and a 1tb m.2 but I also use fb marketplace everyday only stuff I always buy new is the case the mobo and m.2 all depends on the CPUs I can find got a ryzen 1600 for $10 got a 2600 for $23 fun side hustle as well you should try it might have to sit on things for a bit

Honetly harddrives are getting pretty obselete considering how cheap ssds are these days. You could store files on the harddrive and older games sure, but a lot of more modern games are requiring an SSD to work properly otherwise you'll have insane load times and things may break, and this is getting more and more common so a harddrive isn't very future proof.

$250 for a backpack sounds insane. I guess I did spend nearly that much on a nice motorcycle backpack with back, chest, shoulder protection, waterproofing, lots of specific pockets and straps, and more. $250 for a backpack with just a big pocket still sounds absurd though

Make sure that your ram is installed in the 2nd and 4th slots (1 being the closest to the CPU, 4 being the furthest) If it's unstable then, you can maybe RMA the ram/motherboard If you can't/don't want to bother, increase the voltage on the ram (up to 1.4v is very safe, up to 1.45 is generally recognized as a safe limit)

@@CanadianBenchmarks this also depends on the motherboard itself, some motherboards require DIMM 0 and DIMM 2 to be used rather than DIMM 1 and 3. it depends from mobo to mobo, manual usually shows the correct placement

AMD seems to be the only one that can run SAM or Rebar in PCIe 3 because of how Ryzen 3000/5000 is built, Intel may be the only one that can't run it on their chipsets for PCIe 3 and would only be speaking for an Intel platform, if you run AMD then don't run WHQL drivers (unchecked that box).

In terms of video gaming right now yeah, the PS5 is arguably better. But consider that it only has one use: gaming. It can't be used for any of the other things you use a PC for. additionally, a PC can be upgraded and can run games and software from any year. It is far less constrained than a console and when the time comes for the next generation of games you don't need to buy a whole new product.

Not to mention having to find THE exact prices and stuff second hand to match it PS5 is such a better deal for 500. If you gonna PC game go all out or just buy a console XD

I’d argue that the PC is better. Sure there’s no warranty, but you don’t really want a warranty on a custom PC anyways. The biggest upside of PC is its modularity. A PC like this isn’t the finish line; it’s a starting point that you can iterate upon for the foreseeable future. Only change I’d make is I’d get the B650 motherboard, as they’re a bit more involved to upgrade than other components.

I didn't have to configure my PCs ever, I think this is a side effect of using an Intel Arc GPU because motherboard manufacturers are not yet taking them into consideration

Linux just isn't as friendly as windows for the casual user. Especially someone who may be trying to move onto pc gaming from a console. Also you just don't need to pay for windows. You lose out on some customization settings and you get a watermark on the bottom right of your screen but to be really honest... I haven't had an active copy of windows in like 3 years and it just doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Barely even noticed the little watermark. Plus you can buy a windows key on a key site for a massive discount later on anyway (They're like $20 on g2a). Also that's a perfectly valid question to ask Edit: Said more things

Ehh, physical games are overrated. 2 generations ago I would agree with you but with most games being broken messes or completely unplayable without the day one patch disks are just fancy download codes. The only upside is being able to resell and lend physical media.

@@Evilfonics the problem with disks for consoles and PC is... frankly? the gaming and hard-work/real-work program creators of the PC and console industries themselves. gamers and PC owners did NOT want disks to become obsolete. hard copies of ANY durable and reusable data is preferrable to clouds or even SSD drives... let alone external/support MDD. of which i have had TWO fail utterly and entirely in my lifetime owning PCs since the 1990's. yep, both EXT HD i've ever purchased failed on me within 3 years of owning each. i lost every bit of data on those two drives i didn't have backed up on personal CDs and DVDs. in the past, owning a physical copy of a game or program on disk gave you quite a 'chokehold' on program purchasing for both sides of the industry (play and work). why buy an upgraded 'work' program if the old one on-disk worked just fine? if your PC had a problem, just uninstall the 'broken' program and reinstall it for free off your disk. then there were the piracy issues. some were fake news drummed up by Public Relations campaigns by the work and play program creation companies themselves. others were real issues. VHS tapes got copied. cassette tapes for music got copied. CDs for music get ripped/burned by owners all the time. movie DVDs and BR disks get cracked and uploaded online even today. lots n lots of pirated media are sold n traded or free either digitally online or physical disks sold worldwide. so, both sides of the fence decided to try and install or buy 'read/write protection' for their CDs and DVDs... which often failed or required the end users to BUY access to a game/work item they already purchased from the original supplier. then there are the ownership rights and licensing rights for those physical disks as well. finally, both industries said, 'we are moving to digital downloaded programs!' it is much easier to write code in for: anti-copy, one machine only, piracy prevention measures INTO a bunch of files you DL onto your 'device'. i myself wrote multiple emails to Ubisoft asking them to stop digital-only copies of their PC games. because, until last year... when my internet supplier discontinued the service... i was on DSL. now i'm on fiber... but on DSL? my PC took FOUR DAYS to download Assassin's Creed: Odyssey... and that was JUST the main game, no DLC, no 'day one patches'... none of that content... FOUR DAYS to DL one game, and my internet on that one device... entirely useless... that one game took up my entire bandwidth... my cellphone on my home Wi-Fi was nearly useless for those four days. since Odyssey... even on fiber... i haven't bought a single new PC game yet. i want to... but my old PC with specs that would play a game well? died in 2020. so for four years i've been working and streaming YT vids on a 15-year-old 'backup tower'... that was in a kitchen trash bag and squirreled away in the back of a clothes closet JIC my 'normal PC died'... which it did. right now? i can't afford a reconditioned laptop or a used PC or the components to build one. heck, i've ZERO technical knowledge on how to build a tower. i can't even afford a pawn-shop priced gaming console either... hah! a new console? it'll never be within my financial grasp... unless i get a new job or a second job atop the one i have now.

Pcpartpicker for part compatibility and prices and a quick google search on what gpu and cpu is needed for 120hz at whatever your target resolution is…4k is where the consoles looking nice 😂 even tho most games don’t even get close to 120 on ps5 or series x but I was playing r6 siege and apex in 4k with a rx580 8gb capped at 60FPS and it hardly dropped frames so what you play matters too esports and f2p titles you should be good cheaping out but decent for all games in 4k would be around $350 minimum on just a gpu but when I started I got a used 290x 4gb gpu in 2019 and honestly it still bangs at 1080p

Built my second pc in 10 years a few months ago. Got a ryzen 7 5800x in a b450 motherboard, Noctua nh-d15 cooler, 1TB samsung 970, 32gb corsair vengence ram, gigabyte 6700xt with a corsair 850w power supply. Im only using a 1080p monitor but i get 100+fps in every game on high settings. If i were to build again I would’ve bought a 5800x3d and a 1440p monitor. Very happy with the performance though it’s still a beast

its such a drag and one thing that I 100pct DONT miss about consoles
