ZhangtheGreat Right! I remember a story by Mike Holdgrum. Saying at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii after a practice. ALL the players stood around and watched Jerry workout on the field for 30 minutes. Running sprints, routes, etc. These are the best players in the world, and even they are admiring his work ethic.

There was no social media back then so everything felt real and from the heart. Also in general life in the 90s was tougher especially for the youth. Lot more crime and problems. It also doesn’t help that the NBA and NFL is trying to take away the “machismo” in the game. That means less trash talking, less fighting, less hard fouls/hits, etc.

him plus Gary plummer ricky jackson Lee Woodall tim McDonald bryant young and let's not forget one of the biggest pieces Ken Norton Jr who was the Cowboys defensive captain. the biggest difference in 92 and 93 was the Cowboys had the best defense and the 49ers had one of the worst. in 94 that changed with the addition of those players I mentioned. the next year in 95 the 49ers whooped the Cowboys. the Cowboys had deion and the 49ers were without Steve young

Dallas really lost their swag after Jimmy left. The only time the Barry Switzer era Cowboys beat SF was in 1996 during the regular season. Jimmy's Cowboys were much more disciplined and knew how to beat the 49ers. Jerry Jones' ego ruined the Cowboys.

Growing up as a 49er fan and all, I was used to Deion Sanders on the opposing team of the Niners. I did enjoy seeing Rice line up with Sanders. I also remember being highly amused when I heard Sanders signed 1-year with SF. He came from the Atlanta Falcons who were at the time division rivals. AMAZING Cornerback but his showboating angered you. However, for 1 year, he was *OUR* AMAZING, showboating CB. He was well worth the price and I only wish the 49ers retained him longer. You had to build to beat the early-mid-90s Cowboys, and Sanders was a part of 2 of the Super Bowl Championships between the Niners and Cowboys.

The players said Jerry could run away from anyone any time he wanted to. I only wished Al would let Gruden do what he was capable of doing. Grudin proved it he took the Raiders and Tampa to the superbowl. It has not been easy being a raider fan. When the owner is fickle and uncommited it is hard to get excited.

As someone who originally is from Detroit, I became a 49ers fan after they won SB 16 in Detroit at the Silverdome.Bill Walsh was the head coach but the wide receivers on that team were Dwight Clark 87, and Freddie Solomon 88.The 1981 season was the beginning of the glory years of the 49ers.

Ricky Watters should be in the HOF.

+Daniel Kelegian Hall of Very Good. You know who is actually more deserving that NO ONE EVER mentions? Fred Taylor. Look at the numbers...more yards on fewer carries (no one with as many carries has Taylor's ypc [4.6] that isn't in the HOF) and he did it basically being stuck as a part time guy more than a few years.

+Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot That stat is amazing considering he missed 55 games out of 208 he could have played in. He was injured a lot. Also, Ricky Watters played only ten seasons. His numbers are phenomenal for a ten year career.

Daniel Kelegian 4.1 yards per carry and never rushed for over 1.500 yards in a season. He was good. But not one of the best RB's in history.

Sanders was a superior athlete where everything came so easy to him. He was just phenomenally gifted. Guys like him don't need to lift or run. Rice was also a superior athlete but he believed it was a sin to not nurture his talent with incredibly hard work. I easily see the friction here.
