Please don’t cancel this, by the end of season 2 everyone will start to take notice of this beautiful shit, just like dark and many other series might I even say GOT. Give it time to marinate. Please season 2.

Agree. This is one of the best sci-fi shows ever on Netflix. Don’t listen to those who have read the book and criticise it for not being “authentic”, it is very authentic to its spirit although there are many changes to the characters.

My largest concern by far is that they won’t be allowed to continue the production. The first book is essentially a primer/ prologue for Dark Forest & Death’s End. Their choice to bring most of the Common Era characters together to enhance character development and add some nuance was a solid choice, as was incorporating the first few hundred pages of Dark Forest into the first season. It does seem all a bit of a speed run, but I don’t know how else it could have been done and still have any hope of reaching a wider audience than just the book readers & sci-fi lovers. Bringing Sophon forward as the game’s avatar was a brilliant choice. There are a lot of picks I could make, but if I wanted a nearly identical page-to-screen adaptation, I’ve got Tencent’s ~30 hours. Minus the struggle session(s), naturally. I really hope this isn’t another ‘1899’ situation, where I’m totally on board, just to have the rug pulled out.

With the show having high , high visualisations on youtube( 12 millions only for trailer 1) , probably the high views on netflix will make the the renew for secound season(The Dark forest)

Well said, we have some bad actors gatekeeping it hard. But it's fine, they don't represent the majority. The silent majority is not on the internet raging over something so trivial. A good show is a good show. I am thoroughly entertained by Nefflix's version. I stopped at ep5 of Tencent because I remember I already read the 3 books and it was really just word by word 95% of the time.

This is going to be interesting. Hard sci fi is rarely adapted to movie format because it's hard to comprehend what human eyes have never seen. I understand why they had to make the adaptations that they made. The Oxford 5 are not in the book, but they are needed to drive the plot forward and make the narrative easier to follow. They handled "Sophon" beautifully and by dipping into the 2nd book with the wallfacer program, it brings more excitment plus they just flat out beefed up the action sequences that are not in the book. If you want a more to rhe point version then watch the Tencent series but I believe they did an excellent job with this. However, the first book is child's play compared to the next 2 books. Death lines, curvature propulsion, higher dimensions, cosmic sociology, Singers race, and my personal favorite, the dual vector foil. Relativity will also play a huge role throughout. If they can pull this off it would be an absolutely epic masterpiece of cinema unlike anything we have ever seen before. I highly recommend reading the books for you to fully appreciate the magnitude of what they are about to attempt
@DressedRunner

They are probably gonna cut a lot out from the next two books, like the singers race, 4th dimensional beings, etc. They would streamline it like they did in season 1. The dual vector foil though.. would be sight to behold.
@ericsmith9461
@ericsmith9461 Місяць тому
@DressedRunner you're right because some of it is too much. How would they show the navigation of the 4th dimension? I have loved these books for years and I've always wanted people to enjoy then just as much but if they cut out key plots or adding what's unnecessary then it won't be as beautiful as it truly is. Most people get bored with reading the 1st book and stop halfway through never knowing the mind bending, reality altering, beauty of this story.

@ericsmith9461 as beautiful as it truly is .... like the imaginary forced wife bs. Some shit needs cut out. It seems like the science fiction won't be part of the cuts. They have set up everything single important plot point so far.

Consider this: Ye Wenjie was probably the single most important human to ever live. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed would all pale in comparison to the impact this single person made on the human race.

It’s weird I did not get the impression that Jin cared for Will as much as he did for her. He was definitely ‘friend zoned’ and dare I say it a nuisance to her? Almost patronising? He gave her all the signs and opportunities presented to her and she deliberately chose to ignore it. Her grief is driven by guilt - not necessarily true love when he chose to participate in the experiment. That’s just my thoughts though…..

As a long time sci fi reader. This production is ok. The narrative is familiar nothing new nor the tropes. I don’t feel anything for the Oxford five, or any other characters. I will watch to see how it evolves but I’m not expecting much. Sci fi has mined this trope deeply and widely it will be difficult to stand out and harder to bring to a show.i hope it does get better.

This adaptation was horrendous in its treatment of Ye Wenjie. She isn't the evil dragon lady that this version portrays. She sent the signal, met the man that loved her (Yang Weining) and had a child which made her regret her decisions. Making her fall in love with Evans and have a child with him was disgusting. They completely destroyed the most interesting and complex character the book.

Mannnnn You haters are really going the extra length 😂 You did not read the books and yet writing all that. Ye Wenjie was indeed an evil dragon lady lol THERE WAS 8 YEARS between the signal she sent and the TriSolareans response. During the 8 she got married etc. but she was NOT happy. And guess what she still respond to the aliens and told them to invade lol She even KILLED HER HUSBAND AND BOSS to make sure they couldn't tell about the radio signal. She only regret after she realise the aliens think she's a BUG 🐛 😂
