Thanks Jocko. I lost my wife at the end of 2019. We were married over 38 years. My head went straight up my ass and stayed there. I really needed this video. Disability prevents me from working, but it doesn't prevent me from living. I Think it's time to stop existing and it's time to start living again. Thanks again.

This is a road I have walked, Michal, and it sounds as if you are at that point in the evolution of grief when the fog starts to clear a little. When you begin to be able to tell yourself that it is time to stop just existing and to try and start living again, that is a definite turning point. There will still be times when that grief comes hammering back in and knocks you off your feet for a while but the best advice I ever got after I lost my wife was, when you are able, to expand your life so that your grief is not the only thing in it.

I am 37, married with 2 kids, run my own company, train almost every day at home and go to bjj 2 times a week. Yesterday I got the news that I have a tumor in my testicle. I said, ok that's the next problem I have to solve, but damn the thought of possibly not seeing my kids again scares the shit out of me. I will beat this.

Good advice for the gym as well, the days you don't feel like doing anything, just go. No plan, just go. When you get there just lift something, get on a bench and do what you can do. Jump on the treadmill for a few minutes, etc. After about 10-15 minutes you'll usually find that groove and get into a full on workout and feel 100% better. All about staying in motion and focusing on something.

When surrounded by darkeness look for the light, even if it is a glimmer. Find it reignite and hold on. Repeat as necessary.
@nieczerwony
@nieczerwony 2 місяці тому
You have to be your very best at the darkest moment. if you can't see the light, you must be the light. It's like the ocean. Everyone love colorful reef with warm water, plenty of life and amazing creatures. You can dive and there is still plenty of sunlight, so you can admire everything. But if you are thrown in the middle of deep ocean, under the water, where there is no light, pressure is so high that you can't breathe, and you can't see shit, that is scary. But still this is the place which is most unknow to mankind. Has so many amazing creatures and things to be found. It's clod, dark, wet, and scary but what you find there will stay with you for the rest of your life and only few will understand what you mean. With coral reef, yeah it's warm, colorful, bright and amazing, but many people have videos to remind themself how it was back then.

My advice to anyone who feels lost... Frist, don't panic. Ask, what problem is the critical one? All other problems just can wait. Work around that problem and the solution for many other problems will just show up. Akways keep moving, one problem at a time and suddently you realize things all worked out. I have 2 diseases and got really sick last year. I was hospitalized over 30 times. I haven’t been able to work since October. My wife of 14 years lost all respect for me. We have two kids together. I helped her get to where she’s at in life and now that she’s successful she has turned her back on me. Talking to other men behind my back, going out getting drunk at a bar every other night. She wants a divorce. This past month has been my best month yet and I’m starting to feel better physically. I go back to work in two days. Gotta dig myself out of this hole. Thanks for the advice I’m going to try to keep moving forward and focus on getting better.

Im at the lifetime low. Wife of 15 years blindsided me for a year and filed for divorce. When she finally said those words "I want a divorce" whole world imploded on me. I was like zombie for two months reflecring on how good my life was but then i realised that life is gone and I literally had nothing else but bag of worn out clothes, phone, car and wallet. Then i started to think really hard with what i ended up with after 15 years of hard work and what are my options. Thank god i have decent job. By american standards i have low 6 figure income. I fought for shared custody and won. I bought 3 room condo and now starting to shape things arround me to reflect what/who i want to be in next 2 years. my dad lost his job at the local paper mill after 25 years of loyalty. this was the bread and butter of our family and so many other families like us. just came in to work one day and the news had hit. lots of families moved. our once booming town saw a substantial decline in jobs and revenue and a significant increase in crime. i can’t imagine what was going through his mind at this time. i was a young child so i didnt quite understand what an impact this would have on our family at the time. our life was built upon his low six figure forklift driving salary, chock full of shift work and overtime. the vehicles, the house, the boats, everything depended on that paper mill pay check. my mother was a self employed hair dresser who only worked 3 days per week so she could raise the kids and keep the house on her days off. long story short, i probably only knew of him getting upset one time, if that, and it definitely was not in front of us. he got up, dusted himself off and thankfully got a job at a shipyard about an hour and 15 minutes from our house. he slaved away at that job for 10 years, having taken a substantial pay decrease. i can honestly say he took it to the chin and kept on going. i, and my siblings, never had to feel the impact of what had truly happened because of his willingness to keep walking. to not sit and wonder what direction to walk in. today he works at the same shipyard, in a much higher position than where he started, and gets to work from home 2-3 days per week, saving him the hour + drive + traffic everyday. i know what you’re experiencing has to be a lot. it has to weigh heavily on you mentally. but trust there’s a greater plan and you will see it through. just keep on keeping on, can’t allow yourself to get stuck or start feeling sorry for yourself! be blessed, brother.

In racing we call that target fixation. If there’s a crash developing in front of you, you look for a path through. If you’re looking at the crash you’re going to end up inside that crash. If you look at the wall, you’re gonna hit that wall. You gotta find the open lane. It’s a moving target, sometime it closes on you and you crash. But other times it opens up and you fly right through

There are also those who do play the system….like someone in my previous leadership….. which is BS

Thanks for this. I'm in a slump right now. A business idea I had didn't work out, I hate my job, been feeling sick lately and I've been letting my surroundings fall apart around me. I spent two days sitting around feeling bad. Today I got up, cleaned the house, did some errands and immediately feel better. There's something to be said for just moving around and staying active. Don't surrender to the urge to stay still and feel bad. Keep moving.

6 years ago I was in the middle of a break up from a toxic relationship that ended in betrayal. Emotionally devastating doesn't do it justice. I would wake up in the middle of the night with tears. I didn't even know that was possible. Suicide was contemplated regularly. Jockos video "Good" which I believe may have been produced by Echo, saved my life. It gave me the motivation/awareness to move and to crawl my way out of the whole I fell in. The extreme ownership mentality helped me realize that I was in fact the one responsible for my circumstances not the victim. Had I not ignored the flags that were hitting me in the face, I would have avoided it all. Taking responsibility is a release valve. Being that you are the only thing you can control it allows you make sense of things and to accept the situation and eventually forgive yourself. But only if you do the work. Do not avoid the pain. Allow yourself to feel it and process it... Create your own pain by pushing yourself mentally and physically... 3 years later I found a better relationship. And after 3 years together I'm back in a similar situation without the toxicity. It sucks almost as bad as what I remember, but this time I have a head start. I know what to do. Get up, accept responsibility, embrace the suffering, recalibrate, reengage and go out on the attack.

I was a rock bottom 4 years ago. It wasn't until I decided to get help at the VA for things that ate away at me for 20 years. Turned out to be severe PTSD among other things. It wasn't the 2 years in and out of the hospital, but the small journey of that couple years that made the changes inside me. Now I tell myself that I'm flawed maybe more than others, so I work to fix myself daily. I'm not up at 4:00 AM (Jocko), but 5:30 and to the gym. So I can assess each day before it happens. One day at a time now, it's a way of life for me.
