Hard agree. Stylized games stand the test of time much better than anything else. For example, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Okami. All of these games have heavily stylized visuals that still stand the test of time for their unique style, and they all released during the 6th gen Era (PS2, Xbox and GameCube).

Lol I think it's pretty reasonable to say they were trying to make it look at least partially realistic, is not completely cartoony, in my opinion at least. In other words, it manages to look like an actual cat even though it has exaggerated facial expression. Notably complex society, language, economy, etc. Although that's interesting too, I've lived that way for over 20 years now, and I wanna have some other experiences of what animal life is like, particularly that which is free from social obligations, regulations, and human physical limits. Basically I agree with you, but humans live in a very particular way that other animals don't. They don't get to have the same amount of freedom I think. Didn't mean to go off on a tangent lol sorry

We are our own species, we have organs, behaviors, instincts, etc. So when you said you'd like to be an animal, I meant to say you already are, as humans also are animals! But indeed, it'd be interesting to see what would be like to be *another* species, like a cat in this case. Free of obligations, societal rules and norms, being able to do whatever you wanted without "human" consequences and the like, etc. 😂

Good to know and makes sense. When I saw the thumbnail I thought it might be trying to cash in on the Stray hype but as I watched the video I realized it has a lot of charm of its own.

Stray also didn’t try very hard to actually give you the feeling of playing as a cat. Weirdly proactive narrative and adventure that didn’t make much use of its premise

Stray's _start_ was brilliant, but then you got a Magic Bag Of Holding and a chatty robot buddy and at that point you might as well been a human, not a cat. This looks like it gets catness way better.

stray was even a bit hard for people who really likes cats: the noise the cat makes when being attacked before dying is just too close. among other things

Yeah, Stray was really enjoyable, but this game is closer to what I wanted Stray to be/imagined it to be when I first saw the initial announcement trailer. Stray is very linear and a bit short. And it obviously has its post-apocalyptic cyberpunk theme. This definitely looks more like just go have fun as a cat and I absolutely cannot wait for it!

If playing as a cat is fun, I can't help wondering what playing as a lizard might be like.

This game looks really fun, but I love story-driven games too. I want games where you can run around as an animal or animal-like being, with at least 20 hours of gameplay and plenty of content to last for days and days. The only game that I know of that does this well is Okami. Outside of the stories and the battles, there are also a bunch of side stuff and minigames and achievements. There's so much to see, so much to do. Even if you're not a completionist, the game is still 30+ hours long. When I first saw the trailer for Stray, I thought about getting it, but when I found out that the game isn't even ten hours long (I think it can be beaten in two hours), I quickly changed my mind. I wonder if I'll ever see another game like Okami again...

@@IllusionQueen4Evaid still suggest getting stray, it’s really good. Also it only gets beaten in 2 hours if you’re literally speed running the game. I’m not an achievement seeker that wants to 100% the game, but I like taking my time and enjoying/exploring the game. I ended up beating the game in 10 hours. I still come back to the game to replay it every once in a while. The whole experience playing as a cat, and going through the very detailed, amazing city, is really great. However, it is a bit much for $40 so it’d probably be better to wait for it to go on sale for perhaps $20 or something a lot less.

@@Ollieve131 10 hours is still too short for my tastes, and I've already seen someone else play through the main story so I don't really see the point of playing it myself. There are already way too many things in my backlog, I don't need to add another game to it, and even play it more than once no less. I would like to finish everything in my backlog sometime this century :'D

@@tinahoefs1455 Yep, the classic "Stardew but cats", excited for the sequel when it eventually drops. Cattails fills the Warriors hole from my childhood, but this seems like the game I've been dreaming of. Cat in a city scape, where you have no real objective, you aren't magical or have abnormal abilities, you are just a regular cat with regular cat skills doing regular cat things. My dream version of this game is a massive city area, similar in size to an actual city, where you can just sneak into any building or place and explore it to your little kitty heart's content. There's videos of gopros on stray cats that essentially show what I want to be the gameplay.

@@doubt2022 Hm yeah, but it's a super different vibe. I love Untitled Goose Game but it's more the cutesy indie game like the Shelter series for example, and not what I meant here. Not that they are bad, but I'm just waitong for someone to make animal sims along the lines of Maneater or honestly Animalia, which an online survival game in development. A good, realistic animal survival game would be one of my biggest dreams since childhood come true.

I think ancestors: the humankind odyssey is a good animal game but its more about evolution tho

That's certainly how I feel. I remember being so excited when Stray was announced, and then so disappointed when it turns out you wear robotic backpack companion for most of the game.

@@EmeralBookwise Did you even play Stray? Stray wasn't supposed to be like that, and if you saw the initial trailers you would know. They intended it to be a more intense game with incredible story-building set in a cyberpunk world. This game looks like you're just playing as a cat doing normal cat things, whilst in Stray while you can still do normal cat things, there's a whole storyline where you get trapped underground and save a civilization trapped underground. Plus the graphics are infinitely better.
