This Solar Power era just holds a special place in my heart. Altough media and so many called "fans" don't agree with it, i think Solar Power just marks a transition for a Lorde that is so much self-aware and mature. Sure, "Pure Heroine" and "Melodrama" are classics but they were all from a point of view of a teenager. "Solar Power" describes so much the sad, happy, confused and melancholical times that we go through in our 20's.

I suppose true fans would still appreciate her effort and support her art, so it seems people who don't like the album are not fake but really just a fan of her art instead of hers... If that makes sense. Anyway, it's all subjective so your opinion is just as valid

@@garimasharma4812 I still think you can be a fan of her as a person and not like her art though… it’s like saying you love Beyoncé but you don’t like the song 1+1, but you literally know every lyric to all her other songs and then someone says you can’t be a fan because you don’t like 1+1… In the same way I can love Pure Heroine and Melodrama, but Solar Power doesn’t resonate with me as much, but I still appreciate that’s the art that she wanted to make and respect her for putting out music that she wanted to put out. It doesn’t mean I can’t still be a Lorde fan…

I'm a grown adult and Pure heroine was more relatable than Solar Power by far. I hate when people mention age as if Lorde isnt mature. Pure Heroine spoke to me as an adult, jsut bc she made it when she was a teen doesnt means everyone takes it in as teen. it was mature even if the the subjects were about her younger years. Pure Heroine will always be my favorite album. discovered it at 21 and i could relate to it more than solar power or even melodrama.

I still do not understand the hate this album is getting. Were people really expecting Melodrama 2, and not willing to accept Solar Power for the masterpiece it is? I think both albums can exist in peace and most importantly, both albums can reflect where Lorde is in her life.

yes!! also personally i prefer melodrama but just because i relate to it more, as where i am in life now. and maybe some time in the future i will be able to relate to solar power (really hope so ahahah) + this album as magnificent songs without any doubt

For sure. But saying that the album isn't really enjoyable (subjectively ofc) doesn’t equate "hating on it". I like to think that Lorde fans are smart enough to not meddle with that line. 4/10.

Solar Power is objectively a bland sounding album and it gets kinda repetitive midway through. Lorde's artistic expression? Go gurl. Some people being able to enjoy it? Go gurl. But it's still objectively one dimensional.

The tight knitted cohesion of this album really makes it feel like a sunshine filled pocket dimension in Lorde’s discography. That 1965 Fender Jaguar is f*cking mystical. This album is one that needs time to fill your mind with its colors, and it’s one you have to lose yourself in to see the bigger picture. It’s a perfect ephemera of early 2000s pop and 60s sun-kissed psychedelic folk. 🌞

As a former solar power hater, I can tell you that the hate for this album stems from people not willing to listen to it with an open mind. And that’s a shame because growing into music is a beautiful thing. Lorde knew what she was doing, and her penmanship is sharper than ever. I will die on this hill

She’s just got *This Power* about her. She’s art and beauty and knows how to radiate her emotions and feeling so well in a song or record. I kinda like the fact that she writes her albums based on how she feels about certain things. Melodrama will forever be my favorite and Pure Heroine will always hold a special place because I fell in love with her music when I first heard Royals and Tennis Court and Team. But I do appreciate and enjoy how she expanded her sound to more of an early 2000s pop and acoustic, folk like album. I love how she can express herself so well in a song she is a true lyrical musical genius and I definitely look up to her so much shes mastered her Talent so well.
