Great video, I took the phasers off my M274 engine ( same setup) but my question I could not find any pin to align the cam shaft with the VVT sprocket . So basically sprocket ( phraser) not locked I to the camshaft. Any advise? Thanks

Thank God it uses timing chain instead of the rubber timing belt. Imagine the pain of removing those screw and cable every 50k km just to replace a worn belt.

this engine looks new and wants a chain and cams . not as good as the old mercs . please bring back the douplex chains they are more reliable . bmw and mercs are going backwards with the design of their engines . did i miss something i did not see the chain being replaced ?. i have realised that this engine did not want cams or chain and just only to show you how it is done ,

A bit weird as he don't change the timing chain? used to do the V8's with a split link timing chain and just turn the engine manually and change tensioner job done. Why take the camshafts out? Also the workshop looks a bit cramped not like a typical garage workshop :-) this is not reality
