Does Mercedes have a bulletin number for this defect? Did they replace your head free of charge?
@nelynel8312 днів тому
You have to take it to the Mercedes-Benz dealer and they will diagnose the vehicle and if they verify that this is your issue. They will give you an estimate if your car is out of warranty, but if it's still under 5 years or 40,000 miles or additional CPO warranty they will repair at no charge.

Did the new head come with the new valves installed or did you have to install them?

This one came with the valves. The only thing you have to swapped are the rocker arms.

I have a GLB 250 (2021 model and 22k km). The engine check light has turned on. Service said it is because of fuel system. But no exact reason. Then I made them turned the check light off 3 days later it came back on Then 1 week after it turned off by itself. I used the for 200km and full the tank. After 2 weeks light came back again. The average consumption is 17liter / 100 km. Isn’t it too much? What could be the issue?
@nelynel83Місяць тому
Hello, and yeah it could be related to the valves but without knowing codes and actual values it's hard to say exactly

What is the bolt tightening sequence on the m260? I’m in the middle of doing the head on my a35. I’ve seen alot of diagrams online for 4 cyls that show to start from middle of head and work your way outwards. Is this correct for this engine?? Thanks

Also is timing tool needed?
@nelynel832 місяці тому
Yes, start from the middle and work your way towards the outside left and right

No timing tool needed. Just set the crank to OT and take cam sensors out to see that intake has a the timing mark facing up, the exhaust will have mark looking like a U

My brother has a 2021 GLB 250 4Matic ... does this car have this type of issue? If so, how many miles will it take to start showing this problem? Will this issue be still under warranty? Thanks.
@nelynel836 місяців тому
Yes, this vehicle will eventually have this problem. As long as the car is under the warranty, which is 4 years, 50,000 miles, which ever comes 1st. It will be 100% cover.
@path20496 місяців тому
@@nelynel83 Believe it or not, he has only 10K miles on it. One more year for the factory warranty. When will this type of issue start happening? Please advise. Some comments below say the warranty is extended to 15 years/150k miles to cover this issue. True?

New cylinder head include Head Gasket ?
@nelynel835 місяців тому
Yes, the new cylinder head comes with the gasket inside the box.
@kroligoffkroligoff13105 місяців тому
@@nelynel83 only gasket or include other parts ?
@nelynel835 місяців тому
Well, sometimes the cylinder head comes with the intake, exhaust valves and valve stem seals in it and head gasket. But sometimes the cylinder head comes naked just the block. I guess it depends on the model. Ask before you order it.

Hey boss, great job. I have a 2021 GLB 250, 31k. Check engine light, took it to the dealership. Burned valve. Asked me for proof of receipts that I changed oil. I am assuming this is the same issue? This is what the dealership will need to do?
@nelynel833 місяці тому
Yes most likely, with 31,000 miles. That's crazy right.
@Daiiisssy3 місяці тому
@@nelynel83 crazy indeed, made me very disappointed in MB. I purchased this make because of their durability especially with engines. I read that you said once it is changed it is all good, so that’s a relief. What causes this problem? Which part is defective? Also, y r the GLB so jerky when stopping and driving? Thanks mate!
@nelynel833 місяці тому
Mainly the valves, intake /exhaust valves. But meecedes so far is changing the complete cylinder head. And about the jerking, if you're talking about while braking, that would be the brake rotors been warped/ burn causes pulsation. If your talking about talking off and while driving that could be the rear differential, we been changing them for this issue also.
@Daiiisssy3 місяці тому
@@nelynel83 Nope not while breaking. Like when coming to a slow "almost" stop and then pressing on gas, it like jerks instead of a smooth acceleration. Is that rear differentials as well?
@nelynel833 місяці тому
@Daiiisssy yes sounds like rear differential, you will hear a thunp as it gets worse,

Did Mercedes correct this problem for the 2023 model year vehicles?
@jaguilar17996 місяців тому
No
@user-ws2mo3iy6b3 місяці тому
In Korea, they do not replace the cylinder head but only the gasket and other small parts. In the beginning, they used to replace everything, including the head, but they have changed their approach, possibly for cost-saving reasons. However, this may shift future problems and risks onto the customer. =Update= It seems there was a little misunderstanding on my part. In some of the job estimate documents, there was a notation for "cylinder head parts," while in other job estimates, it was simply listed as "cylinder head." This led me to believe that the entire cylinder head was not being replaced. However, the estimates varied from 3 million to 7 million Korean Won (USD 3,000~USD7,000), and I still wonder why there is such a difference in the cost.
@nelynel833 місяці тому
Oh really! The issues are the valves. So if the valves are replaced and sealing properly on the cylinder head I think it should be good. Thanks for the info!
@user-ws2mo3iy6b3 місяці тому
But still, regarding the Mercedes-Benz TSB LI01.30-P-072328 addressing the issue, it states, 'Check engine light illuminated. Engine runs rough. Poor shifting or jerking when accelerating. Fault codes stored related to mixture formation or injector quantity adjustment. Misfire faults may also be present. Leaking valve seat in the cylinder head. Perform a cylinder leakage check as noted in WIS group 01.00. If excessive leakage is found, determine if the leak is from intake or exhaust valves. If leakage is found from intake or exhaust valves, remove the cylinder head and inspect valve seats. The complete cylinder head must be replaced if valve seat damage is found. The valve seats cannot be reworked.' So, I guess the proper way to fix this is by changing the cylinder head.@@nelynel83

@nelynel8310 місяців тому
Yeah I hear you. This happen mostly within 10k miles to 40k miles which would still be cover under the warranty. Once is done you don't have to worry about it. They made the parts better. This is why you don't buy the 1st or 2nd year of that model. Wait at least for the 3rd year.
