The fact that the narrators throw out little details and then immediately wave them away is a) very endearing in a 'drunk friend telling you a story' sort of way and b) an incredible way of making the world feel lived-in without dumping a whole load of exposition on you. I love it.

@@sinbycosvi9 It's just extremely odd to me for CR to market this as "a new narrative experience" (verbatim what Marisha called it) when it's both an old format and an old show (it having run back in 2020) and then to put that behind a paywall to listen to the "new", old episode ahead of time and then to also remove the old version from every streaming platform. It comes off very monetarily predatory for a company who is already earning hand over fist.
@sinbycosvi9
@sinbycosvi9 Рік тому
@@SinSokolov I get what you mean. I don't know what Marisha said exactly, but she could be talking from CR's point of view. It is definitely a new frontier for them. I would agree about the "predatory pricing" if they were just re-releasing them without any additional changes/content, but they are incurring costs to remaster the audio and make these videos with brand new artwork. And it's not like you *have* to pay. Similar to other CR stuff, it'll be available for free eventually. But if you're an existing fan, I can understand your frustration. There's gonna be some growing pains here unfortunately.

I LOVE EVERYTHING about this. Very glad Sam and Marisha put this on my radar, and so glad you lovely people put the whole thing together as a show in the first place. Such a way with words in the narration, the way the characters talk, the way the narrators play off of each other or even their own prior statements...And there's like a half-transparency but something's always missing. It feels perfectly told for the way my brain works. I'm so happy to hear Mr. Weepe is one of our "main protagonists," something about him just...gets me. Especially the way he and Saskia play off of each other. I love them both so much.

Besides the world being interesting and the characters being fascinating already, the BEST part of this has to be the two narrators and the way they are talking. It's amazing and SO MUCH fun. It feels like just two actual people telling a story, but without having talked about really how they want it told in detail. It feels... more real like this. Though, also again, the illustrations that go with the story are AMAZING too. Just add to the charm. 'We will not tell you whom' 'It was Lark' 'We will tell you whom. Now you know' This is golden. Also I love the line 'Light simply does not know what to do with him' for describing someone. Brilliant. I do REALLY like Weepe I think. He's FUN.

This show is... so incredibly different to any other kind of storytelling I've seen, even from Actual Plays, and I can't seem to decide what I think about it. It certainly draws you in, not really something you can just throw on in the background while doing something else, but also not a 100% attention kind of show? Idk. I have no real clue about the plot yet (except that appearantly the moon is gonna fall at some point), and usually when that's the case it's the characters of a show that draw me in. And while the characters we've met so far are certainly intriguing, since I don't really have any frame of reference for how the main characters relate to one another it's more the worldbuilding and the unusual narration style that's capturing my attention here. I don't know. That was very stream-of-conciousness. But I'm definitely gonna keep watching.

Although one suggestion I would make is when 2 characters are having an open dialogue I think it would be better to just stick with the initial narrator that started the voice of the character till that discussion is over, having multiple people voicing the same character sometimes changing in the middle of the conversation felt very confusing and I had to rewind a few times to get a grip of what was actually being said by each character. But maybe it's just me that struggles with it! Other than that, everything is perfect so far! Keep up the good work, really excited for more episodes.

I really enjoy the way the show uses elements of lovecraftian type horror with all the "unknowable, indescribable, unsettling, not quite right" but then also plays with it by taking it a bit too far like with the whale thing or hanging a lampshade on it like with the Lark joke. Asides can often get overdone and annoying but they strike a balance really well, it's an intriguing story so far but also just a very enjoyable way of having one told. Great fun, looking forward to more One thing though, I wish the brackets for asides in the subtitles were rounded not square brackets - could just be me but I'm used to square brackets being used to indicate things like sound effects, eg [music plays] doesn't mean someone's saying "music plays".
