When this came out it was considered a big drop off from all the Bangerz classics, but in 2023 it's clearly one of Miley's greatest songs. She is consistently underrated from all quarters, but she always delivers. And I think she always will ♥️

When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - Heart Of A City Boy” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. I remember when this song came out, I was in the happiest stage of my life, together with my then-boyfriend-turned-fiance-now-ex. Then she got married, and I was so happy and excited, telling all my friends and fiance "omg we can believe in love now!".... All for that to come crashing down shortly after... After hearing she and Liam divorced, I was so confused and upset lmao like does love even exist anymore. Why does no celebrity relationship ever seem to work out. And atlas, about 2 years later, my own relationship crashed. We broke off everything and cancelled all long term plans (house, car, etc). Now it's 2 years from then and I can still think fondly of this song. And it reminds me of the good times. Can't say I've completely healed from the breakup but I've moved on. Flowers came at the perfect time when I was healing and finding myself again. Now it feels like I'm exploring and loving myself on the same timeline as Miley. I hope to see the day we all attain absolute happiness. (I guess she kinda did, she looked so happy with her Grammys! 🥺) Waiting on my turn hehe 😆😆

years later, time has change but the feeling this song brings to me stays the same.

I definitely remember this song coming out. She mentioned that it was the first song she wrote sober. I can definitely understand why the album was called "Younger Now". The shy smiles, goofy acts- with the balloons and the dance. It's like that classic, as a kid, she was a mini adult (The job, earning for the family, early sexualisation, substances etc), the engagement at 19, and subsequent break ups, exploring her sexuality...but fame is a form of trauma. And sometimes despite the self destruction, familiarity is easier than starting out living a life so different to that of her formative years. It's almost like she has to go through another childhood WITHOUT THE HARMFUL ADULT BEHAVIOUR, (therapy), and learning how to go about that in a completely new and healthy way, nevermind the om and off again relationship...this is inner child work, usually covered in shadow work. The way she looks in the 2 piece white outfit with pigtails, (with the waterfall behind her), again- seems to symbolise that (white= innocence and purity, the hair, very youthful...and that image is almost ethereal- like a water spirit, (technically a nymph), or a dryad, (tree or sapling spirit). Heartbreaking knowing now what was going to happen. But one thing I do like about Miley- is her honesty and authenticity. She very rarely apologises for herself and behaviour but does have her tamer seasons, like this one. Writing this in 2023- she's really coming into her own. Great new music, love her outfits but her voice and unique sound, and her peaceful state with her new guy, and some self deprecating humour, (least favourite song to perform- wrecking ball, and specifically licking the hammer and overt sexual nature of the video), I wish her well in the future. X

I have a really special memory of this song. Strongest man I've ever known; my father, blind since birth, but that never really stopped him, he could cook, play musical instruments, he completed his graduation and was top of his class, got a job, made a beautiful family. Everyone had nothing but respect for him. . . At 58, when he got sick, he couldn't walk or talk properly and wouldn't remember our own house sometimes. . . It was a big shock when doctors concluded that it is Parkinsons + Alzheimer's both at the same time and there is no cure for either. After that it got really worse, he got depressed, wouldn't even remember the loved ones, sometimes he couldn't tell left from right, day from night. He would take showers at 3 AM thinking it is 10 in the morning. It broke me, seeing him like this. I would cry for hours... thinking about what he must be going through. He started losing interest even in the stuff that he liked, he was a music person but he had stopped listening to his favorite songs as well. I tried helping him, made a playlist of his favorite songs, told my mom and sister to read books out loud to keep him motivated and engaged, but nothing helped at the time he had lost all the vitality. All I could do at the time was, sit beside him, let him know that someone is there for him if he ever needed something. . . . Two days before he passed away I was sitting beside him working on my laptop and autoplay started this song he didn't react at first but as soon as this song finished he called me by my name and told me to play it again, and again. We repeated this song, I guess at least 20 times till he fell asleep with a smile on his face. He didn't know about Miley, he didn't even understand what she was singing but for some reason, he was happy. After all this time he was happy, I was happy, for a while I really thought he'll get better. . . . Next day we did this again, he smiled, we talked after a long time which was due and I made really bad puns (they were also due) that made him laugh. The next day, when he passed away all I did was listen to this song. Just to remember that at least for a while he got really happy. . . . I still miss him so much. Thank you, Miley, for making him happy.
